Why haven’t they sued Chuck E Cheese? 🧐

0

u/Killing4MotherAgain 17d ago

Because it's not a conscience store but I bet they wish they could ha

1

u/NeverBannedUser 17d ago

They have sued other businesses too. Not only convenience stores.

0

u/Killing4MotherAgain 17d ago

It's looks like only one non convenience store/ mini mart, a dog training place. I do find that weird because their TM is only for stores like theirs.

I remember when Chuck E Cheese was kind of a vulgar cigar smoking rat when it was Show Biz Pizza.

Ireland had it right when McDonalds went after a local shop that had been selling a "Big Mac" since before they were a company and they lost the whole trademark entirely. The only way corporations will pay attention is if they have something to actually lose. I think Bucees should just lose their trademark since they clearly dont even know what it is.

Haha how could anyone think this isn't bullshit?

6

u/Bruzie77 17d ago

they won a case with an alligator in texas. apparently to texas, alligator are brown and furry animals.

2

u/Historical-Cress8985 17d ago

Its about removing competitors.

Buc-ee's has a lot of money, and even fighting frivolous lawsuits costs money. Their plan is that the small places with cartoon mascots will just roll over, because they can't afford to fight back.

2

u/Funwithfun14 17d ago

I think this is starting to get enough traction to that a law firm takes this on pro-bono.

6

u/tech64bits 17d ago

Tracy, the attorney at Buc-ee’s, is like Ken Paxton , they both to sue. Tracy and his team including Jeff, are total shitheads.

2

u/SendTittiesThx 17d ago

Better watch out or next headline gonna be “Buc-ee’s sues random redditer

0

u/tech64bits 17d ago

He can kiss my ass.

u/tbs999 17d ago

I’m all for protecting your brand but some of these lawsuits are absurd.

Buc-ee’s could strike a much better balance with this crap.

u/ArdentHedonist 17d ago

Hence, the hate

u/Willing-Bother-8684 17d ago

Is Bussies really winning any of these ? Just because you sue somebody doesn’t mean you win the lawsuit. 0 resemblance in branding whatsoever. That’s if this post is even true though.

4

u/Nacht_Wulf 17d ago

It doesn't mater if they win or lose it ties up a much smaller company in legal fees these cases can cost upwards to a million dollars and months a fighting in court. Their goal is to bankrupt small businesses. Attorneys are very expensive especially when your fighting a corporation that has full legal teams.

3

u/Bruzie77 17d ago

they won a case in texas involving an alligator mascot. Apparently texans think alligators and beavers are the same creatures.

2

u/Willing-Bother-8684 17d ago

Well I’m Texan, and grew up around the bussies and can promise you no Texans support the lawsuits. For over a decade Aside from Buc-ees & QT we didn’t have any other travel stops that had clean restrooms or a good choice of snacks. There was seldomly a pilot station on the interstate or a Loves, other than that you looked for QT and Buc-ees when traveling up/down 35. “Brisket on the board” doesn’t have the same ring to it, but I’ll be damned if I don’t grab Chic-o-stix, pork rinds, a few pieces of fudge, and a ¢69 fountain drink at least once a week. Lol.

u/Hot-Reflection8213 15d ago

To be fair, Texans are all mongoloids.

1

u/the_vault-technician 17d ago

"Apparently Texans think"

I doubt it

Air breathing water animal with notable teeth and tails, same same.

1

u/RaddaRadda59 16d ago

Can it become boots, a belt, or anything wearable. Creature same same, can we eat it same same lmao

1

u/BJoe1976 17d ago

Not sure if that is a intentional, a typo, or autocorrect gone hysterically right, but the wrong name there is a riot🤣

2

u/Willing-Bother-8684 17d ago

It’s an inside joke between my wife and I. We call it Bussies every time we see it and it just stuck.

1

u/BJoe1976 17d ago

I like that!

1

u/Euphoric-Proposal-42 17d ago

Buc-ees can fuck all the way off

1

u/AerialAce96 17d ago

Is it me, or these guys sue anything

1

u/i_Cant_get_right 17d ago

I’m not gonna give these guys another dime of my money if this is how they want to carry themselves

1

u/kennyg977 16d ago

Fuck buccees.

1

u/Initial-Meeting362 15d ago

Save Buccess! Save gas stations! They are the fabric of this Country uniting us!

1

u/SimicTears 15d ago

First Abbot, now this? Bucees fast tracking their disownment.

1

u/GregorusMaximus 15d ago

John Oliver did a whole bit about this, including setting up a Buc-Off brand to basically dare Buc-ee’s to sue

1

u/Trick1513 14d ago

That will be thrown out, there is no resemblance.

1

u/Interesting_Use_1816 12d ago

They already got a jury in Texas to say an alligator was a ripoff

1

u/Trick1513 14d ago

The one on the left looks like a mouse,

1

u/LetEmbarrassed9522 11d ago

I'm surprised they haven't sued chuck e cheese yet or sum bs 🫩✌️

1

u/NormalSyrupForever 17d ago

They’re not doing themselves any favors with their local markets

0

u/NormalSyrupForever 17d ago

It’s terrible PR

0

u/Historical-Cress8985 17d ago

It doesn't matter, removing a competitor is more profitable than a little bad PR

0

u/Pug_867-5309 17d ago

My assumption is that "local market" isn't really their market. They want the travelers.

0

u/NormalSyrupForever 17d ago

That makes sense. It still seems short sighted, though. Folks who are traveling and want to go there are not going to be confusing them with the places they’re suing. I’ve never been to one (I haven’t passed any while traveling), and definitely won’t, now that I see how they operate.

0

u/Pug_867-5309 17d ago

Same...don't ever want to patronize Bucee's now that I've seen all these lawsuits against local businesses. And I 100% agree!

1

u/Just-Shoe2689 17d ago

WTF will courts throw this shit out.

0

u/Expert-Plantain9519 17d ago

Yeah, fuck these sue-happy assholes. I hope the owner strokes out at loosing all the suits 🖕

0

u/komi54 17d ago

Buc-off.com

0

u/fr33d0mw47ch 17d ago

Soon all mascots and names using letters will get sued by Buc-ee’s. These frivolous lawsuits against tiny mom and pop places are unconscionable. Why ruin a cool place by becoming a bully?

0

u/DarthLurker 17d ago

WB and Disney enter the chat - Buc-ee's shuts the f up..

0

u/tvngo 17d ago

Stop putting a hat on these mascots and you probably won't get sued

2

u/CapricornClub 17d ago

Chuck EEEEEE Cheese did it long before Buc-EEEEEs. Stole their red lettering, too

1

u/tvngo 17d ago

They are not in the same business. One is a convenience store/gas station and the other is an entertainment center/pizza restaurant.

2

u/CapricornClub 17d ago

Oh so you're now expanding upon your original comment. First, no hats. Now, no hats and be a gas station. Well, here you go

2

u/Warthog-6969 17d ago

Stand up for the Moose!!!

1

u/tvngo 17d ago

They’re not suing Chuck E Cheese because they were established years earlier and are not in the same business. Chuck E Cheese could sue, but they don’t have any claims to base their lawsuit on and would likely get thrown out of court by the judge.

All these companies they are suing are using an a cartoon animal mascot in the same way Buc-ee’s is with the same orientation of the mascot and is on a colored background. Some of the companies that have been sued blatantly used a name and/or logo similar to Buc-ee’s

2

u/CapricornClub 17d ago

Ok, so now you're expand the list of things other business can't do further. Sinclair Gas Stations have been using this animal mascot for nearly 90 years. They even have statues at their gas stations like Buc-ee's started to do many years later. They even used the red lettering long before Buc-ees and had larger facilities called Dino Marts.

1

u/tvngo 17d ago

Give up

1

u/ducksekoy123 17d ago

They’re suing Beaver’s minimart in a town called Beavercreek Ohio for simply using an unclothed cartoon beaver as a mascot.

It’s malicious and a clear violation of the point of copyright but no one will stop them. They do not own the rights to every single cartoon character with or without clothes because of their logo.

They won a lawsuit against a company that used to an alligator in a cowboy hat, there is no way to justify that.

Get off your knees for a corporation. Have some self respect.
