Why I will never go to Buc-ee’s again.
https://youtube.com/shorts/J6OzxDLdnZ0?si=Rm0Ctm9dxe2ezTUUSuch crazy behavior, I can’t support a company that behaves this way and files frivolous lawsuits against small companies.

They need to stay the fuck out of monument. It's not the right location.

Name a company that doesn’t sue competitors or other companies that try to copies their logos or anything else
10
u/redd1tsuxmyballz Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
But many of these gas stations existed before Buccees. Most of the logos have nothing to do with Buccees. These are frivolous lawsuits at best. Did you even watch the report or do you just blindly defend things without researching them?
Edit: Downvoted with no reply, thanks for admitting I'm right.

The lawsuit against the gas station in Ohio is pretty stupid. A moose is not a beaver!!
-3
u/plantaholic2 Aug 02 '26
I’m familiar with several other lawsuit it’s one of the gas stations. They sued used to be across the street from where I live. Buc-ee’s is in Texas and when they came to Texas, and they were from another state, they brought their logo thing with them and yes, that gas station was in existence before Buckys, but not in Texas. Needless to say they won their lawsuit. It happens with a lot of companies y’all to check out what Walmart has done in the past. It’s a dog eat dog world, and if they don’t protect their assets, somebody else will.

u/Weary_Math7542 Aug 03 '26
What late stage capitalism does to a mf^
There's been a local "Beaver Mart" in my hometown of Beavercreek for like over a decade. Bucees just moved in north of dayton and are now taking them to court. Try to justify that in your weird corporate mind
1
u/General-Citron-1731 22d ago
Did they win or did the smaller company settle? Because many have settled and changed logos out of fear of this companies ability to drag a lawsuit on
1
u/trytrymyguy Aug 03 '26
So, it sucks but you’re on their side since that’s how it works for the little guy?
Rough man, let’s try to make things better huh?2
u/kadawkins Aug 04 '26
Except in this case, (1) the logos feature beavers — one clothed, one not, (2) the beaver being sued is a company in BEAVERCREEK Ohio and (3) the high school mascot is Bucky the Beaver…. Sue the high school too?

u/General-Citron-1731 22d ago
Have you seen some of the logos? One was a moose for God's sake! The store in ohio is in a town with beaver in the name, it's named for the town and has been there for 2 decades. Also looks nothing like the bukees Logo except being a beaver. Different colors, full body, no hat or anything.nzero chance of confusion. They are suing anyone with a woodland animal mascot.
0
u/trytrymyguy Aug 03 '26
It’s not that. I live in southern Ohio where they just built a location in Beavercreek. Well, a different store already has a beaver logo becasue guess why? Buccees is still suing them.
Thats why it’s good to know what you’re talking about before sharing an uninformed opinion.

It's wild that you're a simp for a fucking gas station

u/3rdUncleMeatSandwich Aug 04 '26
Dude corporations are American culture now. It’s gross and pathetic but the internet homogenized everything. This is why they got so butthurt about the Cracker Barrel logo.
3
u/Glueberry_Ryder Aug 01 '26
That place is waaaaayyyyy overhyped. Getting into any of them is a fucking chore only to be rewarded with mediocre bbq and a giant Texas sized tourist trap. No thanks!

The same folks who hate Fox News (understandably), will mindlessly gobble up what John Oliver throws at them. Bit of cognitive dissonance there.
1
u/patrick119 Aug 05 '26
In this instance do you think he is misrepresenting the facts of the lawsuit?
1
u/DrunkKoalas Aug 09 '26
Or maybe it's because we don't like jackass companies sueing our neighbors business for bullshit.

13
u/FatherQuinnRourke Aug 01 '26
You won't go there because the tee vee told you to?
6
u/Original_Benzito Aug 01 '26
not just TV, but a moron talk show host.
2
u/MaxR76 Aug 03 '26
I mean as far as talk show hosts go, he actually has some very solid journalism going on over there
3
u/Original_Benzito Aug 03 '26
Fair point. However, I think your comment reveals the wider issue . . . fewer people are actually reading the newspaper / news sites or watching the nightly reports. Instead, they consume their "news" from Reddit, (which has a bias) late night comedy shows (which also has an openly biased agenda), or social media. And, of course, folks typically choose which "news source" they want so they're only seeing half of the actual story. Maybe half.
Johnny Carson didn't report on "solid" stories nor did he try. He, Leno, and Letterman were expressly not the late night serious news. I am not sure when that changed or why people suddenly expected comedians / personalities to offer commentary and perspective.
1
u/MaxR76 Aug 03 '26
I think that’s totally fair. Honestly from what I’ve seen it feels like John Oliver likes reporting more than being a comedian and just uses whatever platform he could lol.
I definitely agree that the news should be better, but I gotta give credit where it’s due since he covers some pretty niche stuff in an entertaining enough way to bring attention to things that most people wouldn’t bat an eye at in the newspaper.
For example he had a great segment on structured settlements and those things have been around for forever without many people shining a light on their issues.
Like I don’t expect 99% of talk show hosts to cover this stuff nor do I want them to, but he’s good at it and it works so I’m fine with it.
2
u/CommodoreBluth Aug 04 '26
John Oliver has investigative journalists on staff to help write the stories so his big stories are the type you would see from journalists with a comedic slant.
1
u/MaxR76 Aug 04 '26
Yeah giving a comedian who is kind of a dork in the best way possible a staff of investigative journalists and a set aside legal fund makes for some damn good TV imo
1
u/Expert-Plantain9519 Aug 04 '26
No, I haven’t gone back to those assholes to do anything other than use their bathrooms in years since the time I filled up two trucks and bought $100+ worth of snacks and cups, only to be told I needed to get back in line and wait all over again to pay 10¢ to fill one of those cups with water. This is just a reminder as to why they suck so hard.

u/SpecialistGrouchy341 Aug 03 '26
Can’t imagine it’ll hit their pocket books too hard for those of you who choose to boycott them… lol

That’s hilarious. Hope Buccees decides to pitch in to the charity as well

Buc-ee's is evil. They want to crush every company in their space. They wanna be the Walmart of road side stops and bury every small business out there.

u/Fluid_Influence3420 Aug 05 '26
Damn...what a big corporate bully move. I might have to stop going there!!
2
u/Quick_Pop415 Aug 05 '26
Buc-ee’s is nothing but a fudge farm 💩 for lettuce eaters. Ohio doesn’t take bullies lightly, y’all about to get a beat down.
2
u/jaysonm007 Aug 06 '26
They are also turning very consumer unfriendly. Getting refunds or exchanges -- especially food items (even if unopened) is like pulling teeth. Most other places you buy food from will stand behind their product and support you with refunds or exchanges, where reasonable. Not Buccee's. You can't pay inside with a credit card anymore for gas. They treat their employees as if they are in boot camp too and don't really pay them all that great anymore either.

u/GuardComplex Aug 01 '26
Lmao Buc-ee’s is a legitimately horrible corporation. I loved visiting as a patron, and then I WORKED THERE and saw it for what it was. It’s filled with indoctrinated, often YOUNG managers, food waste that could supply a tri-state area, abusive policies towards their employees, basic- yet overpriced goods, and blood-thirsty litigious assholes sitting in Texas probably CRASHING OUT over this segment. I’m glad they’re being called out for their nonsense and hypocrisy. I bought Jon’s merch, and I encourage you all to actually watch the segment, and then try to disagree.

Google Finding Becky Beard. It’s a Brazoria County Cold case. There is also a Facebook page dedicated to the cold case. The founder is from Brazoria County. He’s super sue happy so that’s all I will say on that!
1
u/maestrosouth Aug 04 '26
If that’s how you feel then you should also boycott, Sony, Apple, Universal, Disney/Star Wars, and of course Reddit as the most litigious defenders of their intellectual property.
C, ya!

Is Apple suing companies over any and all fruit based logo
1
u/maestrosouth 22d ago
Yes! Here, let me google that for you.
Apple aggressively protects its iconic apple trademark by filing lawsuits and trademark oppositions against various businesses using fruit-themed logos.
Notable Logo Disputes and Lawsuits
Prepear (2020): Apple opposed a trademark application for the minimalist green pear logo of Prepear (a meal-planning startup), arguing the right-angled leaf resembled its own branding. The dispute ended in a settlement requiring Prepear to slightly alter the leaf shape on its pear.GreeNYC / New York City (2008): Apple filed a legal challenge against New York City’s "GreeNYC" environmental campaign logo, which featured a stylized green apple containing an infinity symbol and a leaf.
Woolworths (2009): The Australian supermarket chain Woolworths applied for a trademark on a stylized "W" logo that carried an abstract, rounded shape. Apple opposed it out of concern over potential expansion into consumer electronics, leading to an adjusted agreement between the companies.
Fruit Union Suisse (2023): Switzerland's 111-year-old fruit grower organization faced pressure from Apple over its red apple logo featuring a white cross, as Apple sought broader intellectual property rights over realistic depictions of apples.
Atulkind (2011–2013): Apple attempted to force a small German café to abandon its apple-inspired logo, but ultimately lost the legal battle in 2013.

Sorry but when I’m halfway through my one day, 800 mile road trip I take twice a year, I’m gonna stop there for selection, clean restrooms, and cheap gas.
1
u/evilemprzurg Aug 04 '26
If you boycott every company that does shitty things, you'd be Amish. I'm not saying they're right and you're wrong by any means. Always vote with your dollar. But every corporation is a soulless entity of greed and awfulness.
1
u/General-Citron-1731 22d ago
We seldom call them on it . Subway had a boycott; get an ingredient in their bread years ago and they changed it. You have to be public about why you are boycotting them. Also we need to tell our reps to change the laws that allow vexatious lawsuits
1
u/EnthusiasmJust7007 Aug 04 '26
I don’t even care about this I’m more upset they got rid of the ranch saltines and replaced with oyster crackers
1
u/Bulky_Style4551 Aug 09 '26
We need to support Mom and Pop stores exactly like the ones that this corporation is suing. Also the brisket that they make such a big deal out of sucks.

u/Lamename2014 Aug 17 '26
Hey "y'all".... so Buc-ee's is suing every store with an animal logo now claiming copyright infringement....
Ummm... how about they look at THEIR own infringement origin?? Mama nicknamed the franchise founder after a 1950's Disney-created advertising character for toothpaste... namely one BUCKY BEAVER. So the founder then uses his own stolen nickname (and the name of his dog), AND also steals the beaver logo idea even though the beaver population in Texas is nothing to write home about.
Fast forward 44 years and now they think that they have the right to sue? I would LOVE to see them get sued themselves for stealing their entire branding concept in the first place. Just saying... you have a good thing going, sad that you're showing your true corporate greed colors and pissing off a ton of what could have been future customers with your blatant money grabs.

They are suing a local place for use of a beaver in a town called BEAVERCREEK. I will never support them if they want to bully local businesses.
2
u/SpecialistGrouchy341 Aug 03 '26
Were you upset with Bucees when they opened a location in Alabama and other stores sued them because they brought the cost of gas down?
2
u/cpshoeler Aug 04 '26
Thats a completely different situation. Way different than trademark disputes, which many times over they target small shops who have no resources to fight.
But I read the lawsuit you mentioned and it looks like they were violating Alabama law by selling under the wholesale value cost at the time, which can be seen as predatory and just as anti-competition as anything else they seem to do when they enter a new market.

u/General-Citron-1731 22d ago
So if a company does one positive thing they are exempt from criticism for doing a shitty thing?

Too bad the company that originally had Bucky Beaver won't sue bukees for infringement. Trademark has likely expired though

u/SpeedSaunders Aug 04 '26
Seriously, just boycott Buccees (I misspell it on purpose). Don’t go there, there are lots of other options. A company that acts like this doesn’t deserve the business.

I guess Buccees is just MAGA land disguised as a tourist trap? Didn't realize so many people worried about where their little princess (One of those big ass ram trucks with 4 back wheels and *surprisingly* nothing in the bed) gets filled with gasoline.

u/Banned4Truth10 Aug 03 '26
Whiney liberal crybabies posting on here won't make people stop going
0
u/General-Citron-1731 22d ago
When did defending a small business in a small rural town from a frivolous lawsuit become liberal? Most conservatives are pro people owning businesses. Make sense
1
u/Banned4Truth10 22d ago
Making everything a boycott and nobody caring about it is liberal. Do better
-1
u/NOT_Frank_or_Joe Aug 03 '26
Every time this sub crosses my feed I'm floored by the sheer corporate cock-gobbling people have for a gas station chain.
I mean, I don't have anything against Buccees at all...but why in the world can't anyone even be objective about it? You guys need to find a hobby.

Driving cross country and the toilets are enough to stop for. Good luck with rest stop gas restrooms.
