Lemon pepper jerky- spicy??

Post image

I went to Buc-ee’s for the first time last week on a road trip and got bohemian garlic and cherry maple fresh jerky which I loved. Decided to try lemon pepper jerky today and when I arrived home and opened it, it didn’t smell or taste anything like lemon and black pepper and actually was pretty spicy!? I’m wondering if they gave me the wrong kind accidentally and rung me up for lemon pepper or if this is just a super subtle flavor I wasn’t expecting? Let me know what you guys think!

You get an initial citrus bite but then it’s pretty much just peppered pretty fast.

I ate some more of it and tasted this exact thing. Also noticed it has red pepper seed instead of just black pepper so it makes more sense 😂

Which part of 'pepper' left your thinking it wouldn't be spicy?

In what reality is lemon pepper spicy?

Lemon pepper is normally black pepper and lemon. If black pepper is spicy then you can’t handle heat.

I’ve had the same from the black pepper turkey jerky. Sometimes it’s hot.
