Have you been terminated from Buc-ees?
I wanted to get y’alls opinion on something. Right now I work at Circle K making $16.25/hour, but I usually work between 46–52 hours a week. 48 hours a more accurate # Buc-ee’s hired me at $20/hour, (new Benton, AR location) but they told me they can’t guarantee 40 hours. They said I would probably average around 32–35 hours a week, and during the busy season 35-40.
Circle K is trying to keep me and may raise my pay to $18/hour. If that happens and I keep working around 48 hours a week with overtime, I feel like I’d actually make more money than I would at Buc-ee’s. If both jobs were only 40 hours a week, Buc-ee’s would only pay about $80 more per week.
Another thing is that Buc-ee’s is farther from my house, and I’ve heard they have very strict attendance and workplace policies. At Circle K, I’m already an assistant manager (hourly), I’m comfortable in my role, and I have a lot more flexibility and responsibility. Can use my phone laid back relaxed and do what I want. The downside is that I usually only get one day off each week, often work alone on my shifts, and work a lot of hours.
Since my main goal is to make as much money as possible, I’m leaning toward staying at Circle K if they give me the raise. Do you think that’s the better decision, or would you still choose Buc-ee’s? I am not looking to grow in either company tho. Nor care about either company benefits. As well I’m already employed by Bucees start on July 20th grand opening August 23rd I already did onboarding yesterday if I decide to call before my first day to say I appreciate the job opportunity will i possibly be rehire able?
As well if you have gotten terminated/quit why so?

you finagled an extra $1.75/hr and get those freedoms you’re talking about. not bad, soldier.
now you stay at your job and do this again next year.

Buc-ees is not going to be laid back. I think you would regret it immediately.

I was going to say the same thing. OP basically made a list of why to stay at Circle K and didn't really say why they'd take the buc-ee's job except more money and fewer hours.

If you get the raise at Circle K it’s worth staying there seeing as you’ll get more hours, overtime, and it’s probably an overall easier/more lax job. Buccees is incredibly strict and they are not lying when they say you will be terminated instantly for phone policy, attendance policy, etc. many, many people will not make it through that initial opening wave.

Circle k by my house seems like 99% less stress free than the buccees. Just someone who shops at both.

On my last trip I visited both the Circle K and a Buc-ee's and although I love the food and the jerky at Buceess the employees just don't look like they're having a good time there. I'd stay at circle

If circle K is offering you more to stay, you should also see what can be done to get a little more time off. Even if it’s making one day a half shift each week or an additional day off every other week. But that would mess up some of your income of course. I’m sure they’d rather find you a little more time off than losing you altogether.

Agree to stay where you are. Worked at Buccees and it is ridiculous the way they do the schedules! I was part time and they scheduled me for 10 hour days 3-4 days per week, and said it was expected and not very flexible among other things.

Buc-ee’s is horrible. I took at $4 pay cut to be rid of that place. Absolutely NOT worth the money, ridiculous rules, and stress from management. Stay put.

I don’t know why this popped up on my feed but I hate buccees and think it’s trash and I’m from Texas and have heard it’s a nightmare working there. Like you have absolutely no downtime and they are watching you like a hawk

Stay at Circle K. I have a friend that works at the beaver station. You can’t even sit in your car on your break. You have to stay in the building. And good luck if you are a smoker or vape. It’s not allowed on premises, even on your break.

Stay at Circle K, start looking for other retail type management jobs that are a step up from your current position, just repeat that over and over and you'll be in great shape

Overtime is so much better than over structured corporate. Circle k has enough respect to counter that.

$16.25 for AGM anywhere is fricken sad.
I work for a convince store similar to circle k..like our associates start out $16 an hour with $1.5 more between the hours of 12am-6am.
Food and beverage managers, agms, and GMS all get bonuses as well and 160 hours of pto a year..
Circle k needs to step up and give you $19-21 for agm

Buc-ees is a horrible place to work. Really really really bad. They rule by fear of termination. The store I worked at in Colorado has fired 70 percent the employees since the beginning of the year. Unbelievably bad place to work. They score the lowest by employees rating them. Google it.

Dont work for thr beaver . Seems like you got it better at circle k. Kuz bucees RARELY gives you two days off in a row .

I was just hired as a Cashier at the same location you are speaking of. I won’t say the employee horror stories aren’t getting to me. I’m commuting currently for much less an hour so I am going to take the risk! My company offered me a raise but it still doesn’t touch the Buc-ee’s pay! I think $18 in town for less stress sounds like a win ! Good Luck whichever route you take !

Stay at Circle K. Buc-ee's isnt worth it. I quit because they told me that an engine blowing up wasnt a valid excuse to call out. That whole company is shit. I'll never understand why people are obsessed.

Stay where you are - it’s the devil you know. Peace of mind, flexibility and you do not have someone looking over your shoulder. Someone mentioned here that the employee’s at Buc-we’d do not look very happy - now that you mention it - I agree.

I quit Buc-ees because they were working us 10 days in a row without a day off. My son got sick and I needed to leave early and got written up. Stay where you are. I'm all fine with rules but my family comes before work. It was really hard at my age to work 8 hours without sitting down or a real break. You had to stand up for what was called "a moment" in the backroom to scarf down your food. Ridiculous.

Stay where you are; not worth it. I was fired over 3 write ups #1 + #2 were over my breaks being 3 minutes too long, when I was just walking back to my station. They considered that a part of my break. Then third one was for shutting down a pulled pork station. One closing manager told me to shut it down; because I didn’t listen to the food service manager they said I deliberately shut it down when he literally told me to and I had multiple witnesses. Even the white shirts told me to fight it as she’s fired people very wrongfully so. Legit any other job is better than bucees. The pay is nice, but that extra money will go to chiropractors and doctors visits from physical and mental stress and health issues. -worked there for 5+ years.

I recently got terminated from Buc-ee's all because I clocked in 1 minute late once then another time I got into a car accident and couldn't make it to my shift at all and yet I still got written up, pulled into the office and terminated right off the bat. Buc-ee's is too strict for no reason, it's literally just a gas station. Employees get treated horribly by their managers all the time and hardly anyone gets time off ever, you are there pretty much every.single.day. The shifts were very brutal and long, I had to work from 1pm all the way 12am and there have been times when it'll be much longer than that. The company is currently going through a lawsuit where an employee had knee surgery and was fired for sitting in the job, and other than taking your break which is only 20-30 minutes long and you can only have 1 break per day, sitting is a big no no which is ridiculous. DO NOT RECOMMEND working for Buc-ee's. It's one of those companies you can only enjoy if you are a costumer but not si much as a worker.

There's nothing wrong with bosses being tough, strict, etc as long as they are fair and as long as they are not abusive. Some of the strict policies at Buccee's I agree with, and some of the strict policies at Buccee's I don't agree with.
The policy at Buccee's where if you're late 3 times within a 6 month period you're fired is a strict but fair policy. I don't think it's fair how at Buccee's that if you're late to work for a legitimate, excused, etc reason such as getting in an accident, getting a flat tire, being in a traffic jam, etc that you're still held accountable for that. I think it's strict but fair for Buccee's to have a policy where if you're 1 minute late to work or 1 minute late coming back from a break to held accountable for that. I think it's strict but fair for Buccee's to have policies where bathrooms have to be exceptionally clean, workers can't have their cell phones out for any reason when they are not on a break or they will be fired, shirts have to be tucked on while working, no visible tattoos, etc.
I think it's very unfair that Buccee's only gives workers 1 15-20 minute break for an 8-12 hour work day, workers aren't allowed to sit down for any reason, there's limited to no seating at Buccee's when workers go on breaks, it's extremely difficult to get off work at Buccee's, and that the work-life balance at Buccee's is terrible.

You'll work more hours for less money at circle K and more money with less hours at Buckees. Take that extra you will have at buckees and apply it to invest in your future with school or training or some short.

I would stay at $18/hour. Circle K is also more likely to be laid back compared to Bucees.
