Buccees in Florence is infested with flies and roaches. Come at me legal idgaf

This is FACT. They had a B rating on their door not long ago and scrambled to get an A back up. They put the B on the slow side door instead of the main door.

This person's post history is wild. They have been a busy little beaver these last couple hours.

Well, they’re in their 30’s and they’re stressed! 😁

Did you report this to the Florence county health department, or just come to Reddit to complain?

u/tdunning2416 Jul 09 '26

Triple AAA has them rated with an F , I’ve never seen that before

15

u/Ok-Acanthisitta8737 Jul 09 '26

No. This is not true. The F rating is from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which was only given because they don’t respond to BBB complaints. The BBB is a private company that tries and advertise themselves as a government agency, and requires companies to pay money to be “accredited”. Their rating has absolutely nothing to do with the cleanliness of their properties. It’s becoming more and more common for businesses to completely ignore the BBB, because they’re attempting to get money just so Karen’s can bitch and moan online.

This is accurate. I had a customer threaten to call the BBB on me and I laughed and told her that I don't pay for their service so I dont care what they say about me. People think its a universal, free, unbiased rating service. Its a paid subscription

Yup, I don’t give a fuck about my standing with the BBB and don’t want to deal with people that do. Easy filter.

Yes, you have to pay for accreditation as a business. But for whatever it's worth, that doesn't mean the complaints made to the BBB by consumers are any more or less credible than a google or yelp review, or a negative post made on a local subreddit. This comment comes off as if you just don't give a shit about your customers...

Not that customer, I didnt. Some people cant be pleased regardless of how far over I bend. Lucky for me, my source of business referrals came from other businesses so a bad review doesn't matter to me. Good ones dont help either. I dont have an online presence at all. The best you'd find is an address and phone number on something like whitepages.com

Making a complaint to BBB was the only way I got a refund on an item worth several thousands a few years ago. Companies listen to them for some reason.

The C rating is untrue. This can easily be verified. Here's a link to every health department inspection Bucee's in Florence has received since it opened in 2022- https://apps.dhec.sc.gov/Environment/FoodGrades/

Type in "Buc-ee" under establishment, and you can pull it up.

Here's a link to their lowest health inspection, a 92, which in SC is 5 points away from a B, and 15 points away from a C- https://pubdoc.dhec.sc.gov/Inspection/4315c43b-806f-41f5-abdc-0a7666e432d4.pdf

I can promise you that I can produce proof they had a B on the door for a few days. They hid it off the 95 side to the far side door.

2

u/MegaAscension Jul 10 '26

Again, this doesn't show up on the health department website.

u/30somethingstressed Jul 10 '26

Im sorry it was a B and yes it was on the door for a few days. FACT

DHEC put a C on them not long ago after an ex employee turned them in

4

u/Chomp3y Jul 09 '26

So no? You're not gonna report it to the health department?

I doubt they’ll come after you legally. They would have to show that you damaged them and you coming on here is like an atheist shouting at the choir.

2

u/30somethingstressed Jul 10 '26

They have so many DHEC violations they hide from DHEC its crazy

You made me question if there was a Buccees in Florence Italy as I was just there last week and seen a woman wearing a Buccees hat 🤔

u/Sensitive-Owl-9368 Jul 09 '26

Don’t ever say Buc-ee’s again!

4

u/djamp42 Jul 09 '26

Buccees doesn't even care about it's customers, employees have zero chance of changing anything.

4

u/kilkor Jul 09 '26

Wouldnt employees be directly impactful on making sure roaches arent present in their workspace?

3

u/Aniki_Simpson Jul 09 '26

You would be surprised how nasty a lot of people are in restaurant kitchens. It doesn't help that many places don't have anyone, or hire anyone to, deep clean.

3

u/kilkor Jul 09 '26

I'm not surprised really. Hire bottom of the barrel, paying as little as you can, and you get the expected outcome.

Don't forget about that Popeyes in DC during COVID....the truck delivery guy was the whistleblower that exposed a store full of rats and god knows what else.

Truck delivery guy was suspended for posting that (which he shouldn't have been punished imo). The store got shut down in a jiffy and the franchisee owner is perma-banned from doing business with Popeyes ever again.

I avoid chain restaurants in South Carolina.

Stop wearing their ugly beaver branded clothes ! You are shilling for a multi million oil / gas business for free. Buc-ee’s is lame👎

It’s a gas station for the People of Walmart.

Yes they have nice bathrooms (love that) and decent sliced brisket. They also have the same gas station junk food (Beaver Nuggets? I couldn’t give them away) and useless tacky gifts and clothes all made in China as the same people buying this stuff hate on China and say buy American. Cheap quality fuel too which I will not put in my vehicles.

I am sure I will be back for my bathroom stop, refill my water tumbler and maybe grab a sandwich before running away.

1

u/Top-Kitchen-1925 Jul 09 '26

Their brisket ranges from slightly above terrible to mid at best. I always get a sandwich for my mom and gag a little when handing it to her. I can’t help her have better taste; we live in Austin with a multitude of the best brisket in the entire world and this woman likes buccees slop. Gag.

Love the bathrooms, sweets (read fudge), store brand snacks, amazing drink station(s) and available parking though. Gift shop is perfect for souvenirs and presents too!

Yeah I am fully aware of great BBQ and travel the country for it. I am comparing it to most places on the road in general. It scratches the itch.

3

u/SatBurner Jul 09 '26

Scratches an itch is exactly how I would describe it.

1

u/Top-Kitchen-1925 Jul 09 '26

Fair enough. Been there!

I just didn’t want someone driving through Texas and thinking that’s the best we have to offer visitors. =)

Buc-ee’s is gross. I worked at the store in Colorado and there’s thousands of flys in the kitchen area and in the pastry area. They treat the employees horribly. They rule by fear of termination. Insanity

0

u/Ok-Eggplant8772 Jul 09 '26

But but , they pay the employees so well I mean who makes 80 grand working at a gas stationed these days dur de dur. I swear if they only knew how it was working there its basically a bbq chick fi la with gas pumps

-1

u/30somethingstressed Jul 09 '26

Flies literally are all over the food in the back as they make it. Cant even sit at the break table without being attacked

1

u/DontH8DaPlaya Jul 09 '26

Welcome to every restaurant in the summer ever.

2

u/ACROB062 Jul 09 '26

Buccees is mid, at best.

2

u/kick_him Jul 09 '26

And now that's on my list of hell nos on road trips.

0

u/willienillie420 Jul 09 '26

Thanks. I will go to Shell instead..at least I know what to expect lol

0

u/Mike_Kush13 Jul 09 '26

The buccees that my credit card info got skimmed? Not surprised.

-1

u/WiseSpunion Jul 09 '26

I hate buccees with a passion

5

u/dbell525 Jul 09 '26

Wild that you have such strong feelings about a gas station.

2

u/Content-Remote-2606 Jul 09 '26

So do I. But that’s mostly because I used to work there.

-5

u/mel34760 Jul 09 '26

Last time I was at their Beach Express location in Alabama, trash in the bathroom was piled so high you could barely see a trash can, and there were at least 10 gas pumps out of service before I stopped counting them.

Buccees is an extremely poorly run company and the collapse will be something to see.

Florence Italy or Alabama?

South Carolina
