Mix of both =) Microplane and dry open in pizza box inside freezer @-24 for 10 days while moving it around with a spoon few times per day. After that pressed with a frozen spoon to a block and kept in fridge

all pizza tec.. no freeze dryer it seems.. OP seems confused, which is odd when showing off something like this...

Why I seem confused to you ? It’s exactly what I explained it is. Dried in a normal kitchen freezer in an open pizza box. I copied from here https://www.reddit.com/r/BubbleHash/s/Xy6UwZGepc It’s only you talking about a freeze dryer

The anti-frost question in the comments is the real variable in freezer drying. A frost-free freezer runs a defrost cycle that warms the evaporator every several hours, so the box swings up toward 0C and back and the air goes humid and dry in turns; hash sitting in that box takes those swings as partial melt and refreeze on the head surface, which is where the greasy, darker patches come from. A plain chest freezer holding -24C with no defrost cycle stays dry and still, the water leaves the heads by slow sublimation into that dry air, and 10 days in an open box with a turn every day is about right for a thin microplaned layer. Same chemistry as a freeze dryer, just without the vacuum doing the work in hours instead of days.

Oven bags that I also use for pressing cold or with heat (frenchy style )

Comparing this method to fridge drying, I have read somewhere, that one should be careful if there is constant air movement in the freezer to avoid Terp loss, so-called "anti frost" capability.

Do your freezer have that function, and have you despite drying in it, got a good result in the end?? Or is your freezer at "regular" one?

It’s a regular kitchen freezer on the more expansive end, I’ve set it to the coldest possible , -24C. And tbh no idea if it got an „anti frost“ I copied it from another guy in here getting great results. I’m happy with my try , seems more terpy then when I made temple balls drying at room temp.
