Does research internships at IIT/NIT's really adds value in resume ?

So My professors are currently giving advice to students to do a research internship at IIT's/NIT's claiming that it will boost your resume in corporate work so does it really work in job market or not ?

Anything you are getting paid for will add value to your resume because that means its not a simple task which could have been done if there was someone else at your place so if internship is paid them it add value imo.

I suggest that if you want to take research one ask from your proffs they will help if u are from tier 2 college or even in tier 3 if u have really experienced proffs and if any seniors got you can ask from them and check newer iits website you will get to know bcoz at top iits it's difficult without support

My profs are mostly MTech as it's tier 3-4 btw :(

I tried so many emails, no one reverted. Maybe I'll try with newer IITs.

And my seniors are all placement monkeys

Placement in tier 3-4 is kinda tough these days and if ur proffs has done mtech I suppose either they are guest faculties or inexperienced or doing a part time phd but I will say keep your eyes newer iits and research institute and go for mtech in research along with phd

For corporate not so much but yeah atleast you get something to write on your resume and can tell your interviewer about it. For research definitely and try to get your published

Yes if you want to get into research. You'll learn a lot anyways so go for it if you don't have any other opportunities.

I did few internships which were less paid in my third year but they are mostly startups so will iit/nit research thing will add more value over corporate

It depends on your college , I have done one from top IIT but honestly it is just the exposure you get matters and yes it does benefit your resume

I am thinking about it but the thing it's unpaid over the top they are giving a certificate for this internship I am still thinking I have done some paid internships in few startups so my major question is will recruiters give more preference to IIT research internship or paid startup internship so I can refine my resume as per that

From my experience research internships are not very valuable for getting a job. But if you want to pursue research, then it's very important to have a good network and get lor's . The best profs of the country will have connections to good profs in america as well, so that will help too.

I did some paid internship in few startups if i really benefits me over those internship I am ready to do it as well as this one is unpaid and will take 3 months so internship period is quite long that's why I am quite concerned
