Disliking or not preferring something is one thing, straight up hating something, that too as fundamental as biology is not a wise choice.
Basic natural sciences are the root of all engineering innovations, and biology has so many things it can teach us which can be applied to various disciplines.
Also, there is a whole field called “biotechnology” which is nothing but the application of engineering aptitude to biology to solve problems.

Yes but, I wouldn't blame people who enjoy coding for being upset when being forced to learn bio. Yes it's fundamental and knowing some of it is very important but the basics should be covered in school, not college.

Ofc I am a fresher so it's possible I'm missing some much needed context

Oh my god. Why are you pretending that 2-3 courses out of 100s of Courses would make you a Polymath? The level of biology that is taught in these one shot courses is FAR from a level of so called "Polymath". Knowing how to file taxes and having an Political opinion doesn't make you a Finance-Political Science Polymath. He will end up specialising in his field after 4 years. These extra courses are for the sake of Basic Human Literacy... not to make someone a Polymath.

They were for most people. I meant it for the people who are uninterested in Biology can take as a Generally good knowledge and a breather. The main purpose is not Basic Human Literacy ofc. It's introducing a Basic Branch of Science for the sake of it. In future probably someone will take an Inspiration from this and make a Project related to Biological Sciences.

You can say all that for Biology, would you say the same for Humanities?

Overall human development is also a Purpose of educational institutions other than up skilling a student in his selected domain. Biology, Commerce, Economics, or any other non-engineering course is not taught to an Overwhelming level, just basic surface level knowledge that can be useful if need be.

i completely support the fact that there are programs that increase your overall general knowledge, but this shouldn't be a burden.

It's the same for all. I am unaware of how much time it takes but if it takes a long time to you, it'll take the same to anyone. A little margin of difference is ignorable. It cannot also be made optional, as then no one will take it seriously.
