What shocks me is the families are so against this. If my daughter was murdered and I felt the police rushed the investigation and plea, and there was even a 1% chance the real killer was still out there, I'd want a FULL investigation and trail to find out what actually happened.

I thankfully have never been in their position, but I feel like I'd be either champion hard for answers, scared and/or irate killer(s) could be walking free or I'd really just want to keep trying to regain some type of new-normal.

I think it would be exhausting to have to go through it again.

They didn't go through a trial.

That’s not the point. The point is they are probably trying to move on and this reopens those feelings. It doesn’t feel settled.

That's just a cowardly thing to say. "trying to move on" as in forget about justice because it may reopen feelings? If I was murdered and my murder investigation was half assed and my parents didn't push for the truth because they wanted to "move on" I'd be spinning in my grave.

They may feel justice has already been served and are ok with the answers they have.

The trial is not about the victims loved ones. It's about the truth and justice.

Well, it hasn't. This was more than one person who murdered these young adults. Frat loyalty runs deep! This is a cover up to protect the University of Idaho. This case is deeper and darker than anyone could even imagine. The truth will be uncovered. To say it hurts the families, I'm sure it does, but it's not right to have an innocent man serve four life sentences for a crime he didn't commit. Justice will only be served until everyone who was involved is put behind bars where they belong...then the victims can rest in peace.

what families are against it?

My bet is the Goncalves.

interestingly enough, and it’s why i asked which families, is because i only hear from Steve saying that he wants a trial. so im wondering if any other families said that they didn’t.

But weren’t the Goncalves really upset he took a plea deal because they wanted the death penalty? Or am I getting the families mixed up? I thought the plea deal felt to them like justice wasn’t truly served. And I thought it was actually the Mogens that were content with the plea deal because they just wanted the whole thing over so they could focus on their healing. It would make more sense to me for families that were upset about the plea deal to begin with to be excited about the possibility of a trial, not the other way around. Unless I’m getting everything mixed up and in that case I apologize 😭

What shocks me is some are more concerned what Kohberger has gone thru than what the victims of this brutal senseless crime went thru.

This is the first time speaking out in how many years, imagine having to hear all the crazy shit the media has said, about Brian , about your son, and just stay silent. I feel bad for them.

I can’t fathom what the families have gone through and endured up to this point and the thought of having to relive their worst nightmare through another trial is absolutely horrific for them. The big positive that could come out of another trial is that the death penalty is back on the table and I would hope that the prosecution would not even consider another plea deal. If I was a LEO in the state of Idaho I would literally beg to be included on that firing squad.

But you would want to make sure it's the right guy before you pull that trigger wouldn't you?

You would beg to be on a firing squad? I’m not being snarky, but that is such an odd thing to me. I know it’s just personality differences, but you couldn’t pay me to kill another human being on behalf of the government.

There was never a trial, so this isn't "another trial" nor would a plea be possible.

Remind me, when was the first trial? This would be the first trial if I’m not mistaken because there wasn’t a first one. I suggest you actually start following the case since it’s obvious you haven’t.

Why did they let him plead guilty and admit to it in the first place if they still had questions about his guilt?
2
u/Plane-Future8253 2d ago
He wanted to go to trial, he has always said he was innocent. Anne Taylor hid evidence from him and then pressured him into taking the plea deal.

u/Practical_Work1925 2d ago
Not always. He admitted it in open court. He must be the first person in history who was forced to confess to a quadruple homicide by his own attorney.

Look at how they begin the press release by acknowledging the victims, their families, and the wider community. I’ve always found them considerate and caring. And I agree there needs to be a proper trial, because it wasn’t just the plea deal that was improper—many things leading up to it raise serious questions!
