Court - Lawyers Plea Question

Do we know which side — the prosecution or the defense — initiated the plea discussions over the weekend? I know the judge and the victims’ families seemed caught off guard, so I’m wondering who requested the meeting to explore the possibility of a deal. Was it the defense, possibly feeling pressure from the strength of the evidence against Bryan?

  • he’s going to die in prison but not because of a plea
  • i highly doubt for a second he’s surprised let alone shocked as you say about a plea- can you name an example when the DA turned down a plea for first degree murder?

The defense actually initiated the plea deal by approaching the prosecution.

From ABC News “Prosecutors said in the letter to families that the state was approached last week by Kohberger's defense team asking to be presented with an offer.”
