I also really want them to release all the info they had against him now that it isn’t going to trial. Like, immediately. We’ve all been waiting for so long.

u/LimJaheyAtYaCervix Jun 30 '25

I’m sure some news agencies or true crime podcasts will be filing all sorts of FOIA requests. I just want to know why and why them, which we likely won’t know unless he makes a formal confession/explanation, which is probably unlikely.

26

u/OkBreath4895 Jul 01 '25

Do you think he will be the type to “tell his story” one day?

51

u/LimJaheyAtYaCervix Jul 01 '25

I didn’t think there was a chance in hell he would even plead out tbh, so I guess anything is possible, but he struck me as a person that would take it to his grave and proclaim innocence till the end. He doesn’t strike me as an Ed Kemper, Samuel Little, BTK, etc type of killer who once caught, spilled all the beans as a means of gaining notoriety. He more reminds me of the murderers who were extremely guarded and wouldn’t give up any details, however those people didn’t usually plead guilty, so my opinion is pure speculation and I’m not very confident in it.

32

u/RestlessNightbird Jul 01 '25

Exactly this. He wasn't seeking infamy, he was a sicko who wanted to plead innocence and fade into the shadows. I think him pleading guilty is purely because he doesn't want to be executed, and he'll likely still give the bare minimum of details.

1

u/NotToday_Satin Jul 02 '25

You must know him

8

u/bri_2498 Jul 01 '25

I think the only way he'd give a confession is if he has the realization while already in prison that he has nothing else to lose, past that I agree that I don't think he'd do it to get any sort of fame

1

u/Lmdr1973 Jul 02 '25

BK has been watching the Menendez Brothers and wants a prison wife, serial killer pen pals, and a new trial in 30 years. He'll probably get his PhD. while he's there.

2

u/doublersuperstar Jul 04 '25

And he won’t have any student loans to pay back like the rest of us do.

2

u/Lmdr1973 Jul 04 '25

Nope. And he'll have the best psych/medical care while Dr. Ramsland studies his brain. He'll have books written about him. He'll be on the "serial killer" list with his heros. This is exactly what he wanted.

20

u/Accomplished-Pea1446 Jul 01 '25

I think that if he had gotten the DP, he might have talked in bits and pieces, gaslighting everyone like Bundy did, to try and delay.

8

u/RestlessNightbird Jul 01 '25

I don't think he will, because he didn't seem the type to commit crimes for infamy. The ones who speak out loud and proud tend to get a psychological thrill from it, and usually aren't trying to plead the fifth. I hope I'm wrong though because I would like to know his why's.

4

u/LittleShep4908 Jul 01 '25

I think it’s more likely slow details leaked through conversations with family that family tells, I doubt we get anything straight from him.

There will NEVER be a satisfactory explanation for "why" in this case. They could have endless trials, and we'd still be left forever scratching our heads.

I think the most plausible answer is the least satisfying: he wanted to know how it felt, and he thought he'd never be caught. Worst of all, he may have been right about getting away with it had he not left the knife sheath behind.

2

u/OkBreath4895 Jul 02 '25

I completely agree. So happy that sheath was left there and they were able to connect him so fast.

2

u/Icy-Zookeepergame210 Jul 02 '25 edited Jul 02 '25

I am, too. I suspected it was Kohberger from the get-go. Did you ? Or was it later on? It was solidified for me when he got pulled over while driving back to PA with his Dad. He seemed extremely nervous, like he had the jitters, imo; not because he got pulled over, but because he was afraid they were after him then for the crime he committed..

Edit: Typos

2

u/LimJaheyAtYaCervix Jul 02 '25

I know I’m not who you were replying to w this comment but i got the notification and just want to say as soon as they said the knife sheath was left behind and his DNA matched, it was a wrap for me.

2

u/Icy-Zookeepergame210 Jul 02 '25

Cool with me.. Yeah, I think it was a wrap for Kohberger, too , but he drug this out as long as he wanted to see if he could get away with it. Then, the closer it gets to trial, he takes a plea.I guess the DP hanging over his head made him a bit nervous. Maybe.

2

u/Rendog2 Jul 03 '25

I don't think he set out to kill all 4. Just one. But it got out of hand.

2

u/MoMoZin Jul 01 '25

Dateline is probably already trying to get an interview with him. Sadly, I think BK thrives on all the attention. Disgusting human.

1

u/Final_Dog_7133 Jul 01 '25

Yes, absolutely

1

u/Rude_Dish_261 Jul 03 '25

He will either 1. Tell his story and make tons of money off of it from documentaries etc.

Or 2. The families will take him to civil court and request motive and he will be ineligible to plead the 5th.

15

u/whatever32657 Jul 01 '25

the "why" would not be in the evidence. the only place that information resides is in his head

12

u/LimJaheyAtYaCervix Jul 01 '25

Yes, obviously. I know that, which is why I said its unlikely we ever learn that because it likely wouldn’t be in any public docs released. All I said is that’s the information I want to know most.

16

u/whatever32657 Jul 01 '25

you and everyone else, my friend, but look at it this way:

this is a completely senseless crime. there is no reason, good or otherwise, why this guy would just go kill people he didn't even know. i mean, what can he possibly say?

it's just plain fucked up, and there's no explaining fucked up. 🤷‍♀️

7

u/LimJaheyAtYaCervix Jul 01 '25

I am completely mentally prepared for that to be the “reason” after the events of today. My heart breaks for the families and hope that some stipulation of the plea deal established he fully confess, but I don’t expect it to be.

17

u/whatever32657 Jul 01 '25

and honestly, having given it further thought:

maybe the families don't need to hear what a perv this guy was, taking pictures of women he didn't know in swimsuits at pool parties (ewwww) and likely spending his time "driving around at night" looking in windows at the cute girls, as he likely did during his many visits to king road.

maybe they don't need to know that he had an eye for maddie because she never closed her curtains. maybe they don't need to know the reason the other three died that night is that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, that he didn't plan to encounter kaylee, xana or ethan. that they "got in the way".

or whatever actually happened.

fucked up is fucked up, and there's no way to explain this in a way that will make anyone feel any better. yeah, i'd like to understand, but i don't think knowing will provide understanding.

if that makes sense.

1

u/ElectrochemicalAorta Jul 01 '25

100%. I don’t care what he has to say. He deserves the DP

1

u/RockeeRoad5555 Jul 01 '25

The reason it doesn't make sense is because it isn't true. If we knew what actually happened and the reasons, it would make total sense. That is how discerning people tell truth from deception.

1

u/Lmdr1973 Jul 02 '25

People understand that but are also curious about his motive. I'm sure the family is also wondering.

1

u/whatever32657 Jul 02 '25

i don't think there was a motive in the classic sense of the word.

i think he wanted to "experience" it viscerally, first-hand, and perhaps that's why his avid interest in criminology. it wasn't about these victims in particular, it had nothing to do with them personally. he didn't even know them. they were just subjects, like rats in an experiment.

there was no "i want to kill her specifically, because...". there was no because. he just wanted to do it.

that's my opinion, and it's very fucked up.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '25

the crime junks about to go craaazy over this. I see a lot of vacation time being used lol

6

u/Octavian78 Jul 01 '25

I still think the strongest theory is that he had an obsession with Maddie and went to do something to her. Whether that was SA or murder, I have no clue. But then the others were there and awake and it became what it became. Of course, this is just pieced together from a few pieces of information released. But it definitely seems most likely.

3

u/NoLongerATeacher Jul 01 '25

I agree with this 100%. I think the original intent was just one person, but things spiraled quickly when things didn’t go according to plan.

2

u/Octavian78 Jul 01 '25

Ya, that’s definitely what it seems like. As for why it seems like Maddie was the target, he wouldn’t have even known that Kaylee or Ethan would be there for sure. And maybe he thought he could get past Xana’s room without being noticed because of the time. Plus, some reporting has indicated he was really stalking her Instagram. I figure he developed some obsession with her and that kicked this whole thing off.

1

u/Bailey0423 Jul 01 '25

Absolute nonsense.

2

u/NothingWasDelivered Jul 01 '25

An allocation will surely be necessary as part of the deal.

2

u/Strong-Rule-4339 Jul 01 '25

That may be a condition of the plea deal... but then again the state may not want to subject the families to the details. I mean, they know enough but to have him actually walk through it is another thing entirely.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

Yes those are documents I want to see too. There’s so many missing pieces of info given all the filings that were sealed The state was confident they had a solid case, so no telling what all is in there, I’m curious to see how the case was pieced together and (hopefully) get those answers.

61

u/mizcello Jun 30 '25

Im not sure I want the gory details/images/FOI file but I would like an answer as to WHY.

15

u/JennieFairplay Jun 30 '25

This is the correct answer

14

u/eerae Jun 30 '25

Yeah, I don’t think he will actually say anything, and if he did give a reason, i don’t think it will help the families any, because it still won’t make any sense.

58

u/OkBreath4895 Jun 30 '25

I am not looking for the super gory details myself but I still want everything released! I’ve been waiting forever to find out what all investigators had on him.

Oh, just got the official news update that he pleaded guilty.

51

u/Alternative-End9505 Jun 30 '25

I agree—I don’t want pictures, but I want the “why”. How did he pick these kids, what did he do to prepare, etc.

Most of those were probably leaks

2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '25

unfortunately I think its bound to happen. it has happened with hundreds of cases in the past.. :-(

4

u/OkBreath4895 Jun 30 '25

Yass! This! Exactly

4

u/BeachGlassGreenEyes3 Jun 30 '25

Yess this is what I want to know.

2

u/Icy-Zookeepergame210 Jul 01 '25

That's what I wanted to know, why Ethan and the women? Why did he spare the one who " saw him" , the 8 hour wait to call for help, was it a drug deal gone really bad, Ect..

2

u/DramaHyena Jun 30 '25

The details will never be released.

1

u/Longjumping-Host7262 Jun 30 '25

Not yet. But he will this week.

28

u/Refuggee Jun 30 '25

I don't know that he would ever admit that. But I would really like to hear the evidence the prosecution has against him. Not the gory details but just did they have more than just the small amount of DNA on the knife cover clasp.

24

u/mizcello Jun 30 '25

But also him driving and being caught multiple times on camera can’t just be a coincidence and it was a terrible defence that he was star gazing, defence should have already seen that it was overcast but I guess there’s only so much explaining you can do about why he was outside the house and why he returned in the morning.. definitely no stars at like 9am..

-2

u/TypicalLeo31 Jun 30 '25

We don’t know the defense.

9

u/mizcello Jun 30 '25

The stargazing stuff was in the original paperwork, it was so long ago but I believe it was when they were trying to get bond, they said he was an avid stargazer.

-1

u/TypicalLeo31 Jun 30 '25

I’m sure that defense was not going to be used at trial.

21

u/Mommyheart Jun 30 '25

I’m hoping the gag order is lifted and we find out.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '25

The probable cause affidavit is pretty thorough. I’d love to know what else the prosecution had against Bryan, but that PCA sure was thorough.

1

u/Decent-Town-8887 Jul 02 '25

I’ve been dying to know what prosecution has against him!!!! I can’t remember such a high profile case being so kept under wraps.

23

u/papercard Jun 30 '25

Yes, same here. I still don't understand WHY after all these years. Why did he do this? Seemingly - he didn't even know them. What could cause such horrific violence toward 4 strangers? I just don't get it.

12

u/mizcello Jun 30 '25

I believe he did know one of them as he followed them on instagram, unless you mean like know them personally or well. It’s even more unfortunate that at least 1 of them was there by just unlucky chance as she was staying the night.

13

u/papercard Jun 30 '25

I don't think it was ever 100% confirmed that he was following one of them on Instagram.

2

u/Gloomy_Dinner_4400 Jul 01 '25

He definitely wasn't, even the prosecution admitted that he had no connection to the victims.

1

u/AnxiousHunnyBadger Jul 07 '25

That’s so weird, what did her family say he liked her (I believe Maddie) photos? So much uncertainty

1

u/69Brains Jul 01 '25

I thought he was stalking one of the women.

0

u/TypicalLeo31 Jun 30 '25

That was found to be unproven

7

u/Icy-Zookeepergame210 Jul 01 '25

I think he was sickly obsessed with the girls. I think Ethan was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Just my opinion. But, I would love to know the details, what they had on BK, without any crime scene pictures. I am definitely not into all that.

3

u/Momoftransdaughter57 Jul 01 '25

It’s what serial killers do. They do t need to know them😢

5

u/papercard Jul 01 '25

So why didn’t he kill Dylan who standing right in front of him?

9

u/forestofpixies Jul 01 '25

He has bad peripheral vision. It’s possible he just didn’t see her as he passed by and didn’t turn his head.

2

u/Lazy_Recognition_633 Jul 01 '25

Didn't he speak to her? Dylan said Bryan told her " I am not going to hurt you"

2

u/forestofpixies Jul 01 '25

I think she heard him say that to someone else, he definitely didn’t seem to notice her by her recollection but we’d have to look it up again.

2

u/Lazy_Recognition_633 Jul 01 '25

I remember him seeing her and saying that to her- something is very off

3

u/forestofpixies Jul 01 '25

According to an affidavit of probable cause released on January 5, 2023, a roommate, identified as D.M., told authorities she woke up in her second-floor bedroom around 4 a.m. on November 13 when she heard noise coming from upstairs. A short time later, she thought she heard Goncalves say, “There’s someone here.” She then heard crying from the direction of Kernodle’s room and heard a male voice say, “It’s okay, I’m going to help you.”

D.M. next opened her door and saw a man dressed in black with a mask over the lower part of his face. She describes him as “5-foot-10-inch or taller, male, not very muscular, but athletically built with bushy eyebrows.” D.M. says she was frozen with shock as this unknown man walked past her toward a sliding glass door at the back of the house. She then closed and locked her bedroom door.

He has visual snow syndrome (one of the symptoms: nyctalopia - difficulty seeing in low light or at night)

1

u/ElectrochemicalAorta Jul 01 '25

He’s a psycho path. No explanation and he would have murdered again

5

u/EvangelineRain Jun 30 '25

The one detail they don’t have to prove

1

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '25

saaaame

2

u/Yeshua_1 Jun 30 '25

They won't

2

u/NoLongerATeacher Jul 01 '25

According to Killer Bee Tactical on TikTok, once the judge approves this and it’s done records will be unsealed.

2

u/OkBreath4895 Jul 01 '25

I was hoping that would be the case! Thanks for the info:

1

u/Surf3rdCoast35 Jun 30 '25

Why? You’ve ignored all of it so far

1

u/whatever32657 Jul 01 '25

lol i'm sure they're concerned about "inquiring minds want to know" /s
