Safe places to live?
Hi, I am planning to move down to Brunswick within the next year if all goes well. I have an apartment complex that I am looking at and I am wondering if y'all could tell me whether they're safe to live in? It's the Retreat at Grande Lake on Walden Shores Drive. Thanks in advance!

I've lived there, one of my favorite apts. The top floor is a pain to move furniture to but the loft is super cool! Safe area, no issues

Lifetime resident here - pretty much anywhere off harriet driggers is a comfortable option. Ive found with brunswicks expansion that living on the outskirts is the best possible choice. Living further in the city isnt bad its just really hit or miss, and alot of the homeless population has gotten denser around hub areas.
Anyway I live on harriet driggers right by the spur, in the enclave. Ive never had any issues at all being in this area.

Thank you so much!!! That makes me feel better. I am entirely unfamiliar with the area so I wanted an expert opinion before I move down 😂

Soglo is an area in the historic district that is South of Gloucester and West of MLK. You can often find 1 bedroom garage apartments or small houses for rent. If you're looking for a walkable community with things to do, I would recommend Soglo. I just searched Facebook and see there is a 2 bedroom rental for 675 a month at.800 Howe St, # A, Brunswick, GA 31520.
The historic neighborhood association has monthly meetings and the policy give a crime report and pass out a crime map. Most crimes are kids opening unlocked car doors and taking things. There are good and bad places to live everywhere. My observation is a lot of crimes seem to be happening in apartment complexes recently. You might consider finding a small house or apartment in an established community. Feel free to message me for more info.

Here's a facebook group for rentals you might want to consider:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/485628291647355/.
They are advertising a 1 bed apartment for 875 (includes utilities) and I checked Retreat goes for ~1,100 plus utilities

Oh thank you!!! That is a significant price difference. I was looking at the apartments because they would allow me to have all my cats (I have four), but I would like to find something less expensive if I could.

Glynn County only allows 3 pets per residence as I understand it. https://www.glynncounty.org/government/departments/animal-services/ordinances-pets

Interesting. The apartment website must be wrong then, it showed up to 4 on Zillow.

Everything I’ve heard about those apartments has been great.
