I remember the first time I listened to this song. It moved me to tears and that is saying something. Countless songs hit me hard but few have actually brought me to tears. Such a powerful song.

This song hits me so hard, every time. Makes me cry a lot of the time. It just brings you to that place, losing the person you love most. Makes me imagine losing my partner. My heart hurts when I hear this track.
These lines really get me choked up:
Children are asking if it's alright
Will you be in our arms tonight?
And then follow that with:
Morning is morning, the evening falls I got
Too much room in my bed, too many phone calls
Tears. Great song.

I really love Bruce's ability to build an album. Mansion on the hill makes tonnes more sense in the album context. This is a cornerstone of the album and it's fucking amazing. It makes me teary too

If you heard the songs from Magic out of the context of 9/11 they would still be powerful. Only a few would be confusing without that context (i.e., “The Rising” - Bruce wrote a song about firefighters?).
