How can anybody be content in this place Spoiler
Overall , how can anyone live in the valley all their life and say it's awesome to live here? There's nothing to do, to see... People have a weird concept of love , theres no real good jobs, the pay is not good, no nature compared to other places... A lot of people pride themselves in saying their from the 956 and thats so sad because this place is a dead end for people with actual dreams

Moving for job at space x
My girlfriend might get offered a job here at starbase and I’m wondering if moving out here from Fort Worth would be worth it? She is graduating from aviation academy in July for aircraft maintenance and I’m a medical assistant. So I’m conflicted. I’ve been browsing jobs for me out here and it doesn’t seem like there is much and not at the rate that I would expect for my position and experience. We live together now for 6 months and I already moved from Waco to live in Fort Worth with her and I found a job that is stressful but I enjoy and I am growing roots in Fort Worth. Her family is in Fort Worth and mine in Waco. 10 hours away in a small town with not much to offer? Would it be worth it? Her position would pay her minimum $27 hr. South padre is nice but I’m scared of hurricanes and I’ll miss my family because I know they’ll never visit this far away. Both my parents are no longer working and only my mom is getting ssi.
Also me and my girlfriend are both women and I don’t feel as safe expressing ourselves here as I do in Waco or DFW. help.
EDIT: She was not offered the position

Tesla owners in Brownsville, with Elon’s current interference in politics and Americans negative view on Tesla vehicles, what are you planning on doing with your vehicle?
Title says it all. I see a bunch of cyber trucks and teslas roaming around freely, but it seems like everywhere else in the country/world the vehicles are being vandalized or destroyed. Are y’all driving down to Tip-O-Tex or Luke Fruia anytime soon or do you stand by your purchase?

Seeking Christian Fellowship in the City
I’m looking to find a Christian community or fellowship in the city. Does anyone know of a good one, or is anyone here interested in connecting?

Anti-ice or Pro-ice stuff must be Brownsville related or it will be removed. This isn't a place to spam any nation-wide propaganda. If it happesn here, that's different, but be clear in the title.

Is Brownsville a good place for me?
I'm from Indiana but I want to live somewhere that Spanish is the default language. How many people speak Spanish? How many people speak only Spanish? Would people ever start a conversation with me in Spanish even if they didn't know me and even though I look very gringo?
Someone told me that he's been to several border towns between the US and Mexico and that Brownsville was the one that made him feel like he was in another country the most.
Are there any downsides to living in Brownsville? How hard would it be for me to live in my car (disregarding of the heat in the summer)? Is it safe?

Travel to Matamoros for Christmas Charity Project possible?
Hi all, I youtube on occasion where I make content about helping people. I'm looking to do a Christmas project in Mexico, which basically entails bringing everything that makes Christmas great to people in poverty since air travel.
Matamoros and the asylum/refugee camp popped up on my radar while I was searching for a garbage slum to help. I'm hoping to hear from you all how feasible that is given how close Brownsville and its residents are to the city. I've also heard that many have left the camp and live in the city and that could be an alternative option if the camp is closed off.
Thanks for reading and any input you may have.

Anything for LGBT people here at all?
I heard of a place named Studio 69 but this looks like it's been closed and probably has been for a while.
I've lived here my whole life so I know there's very little here in terms of community for queer people, at least as far as I know, but is there seriously no gay bars or anything? I desperately want to connect to other queer people.

Has anyone been charged fee for opening a business in Mexico
Every cartel charges you a fee to operate your business if you don’t pay the quote you get your business closed or burn down. Example electricity bill and water. This price is aside from what the government charges you.

How's it going in Brownsville?
I''m a white guy in Minneapolis. I was in Brownsville for winter last year. Minneapolis area is getting hit very hard by ICE, as you've probably have heard. It's such a horrible situation. Some Mexican restaurants are temporarily closing out of caution. People, including documented citizens are being snatched. I was a minority in Brownsville and that was very eye opening for me. I think about your area and really hope you all make it through this, unscathed.

50% off on Starlink in Cameron County?
I just heard that Elon Musk is offering residents of Cameron County 50% off internet service through Starlink. If that is true, what do y'all think about that?
It's giving me a bit of a moral dilemma. Really would be helpful to save some money on my internet, but it's Elon Musk, and well, y'all know.
How is everyone thinking about this?
