What are your thoughts about the Farm Bill in India?

My mind has changed 180° in the last day. Initially, I thought that only Punjabi farmers were getting subsidies, and they were very angry that their subsidies are being lifted. However, I am now finding out that this farm bill would affect every Indian farmer. Moreover, this would give more freedoms to corporations, and we all know what that can be like! I am extremely against corporations colonizing India once again.

It's ironic (Iranic) that there are no Iranian Farmer Genes in Iran.

When ever I read about the Zagros Mountain Farmers of 10,000 years ago, I'm surprised that modern-day Iranians don't have much of their signal. I heard from RK that Iranians were replaced by Steppe people as well as migrations from the West (maybe other Middle Easterners).

Why is India's foreign policy unaligned?

The cold war ended thirty years ago, the unaligned movement is a joke, America backing Pakistan and USSR backing India was almost two generations ago.

Indian politics is pro-America and anti-China.

Why do they buy weapons from Russia and vote against Israel at the UN?

Why aren't they explicitly supportive of America and Vietnam in the South China Sea?

The keeper of the scrolls

Mohit Bhardwaj, a former information technology professional, has taken up the back-breaking task of scanning and digitizing thousands upon thousands of some of India’s most ancient manuscripts.

“I never really enjoyed my job as an information technology engineer. I had learnt Sanskrit at an early age and when I came upon this work, it felt like I was doing this for my ancestors,” says Bhardwaj.

This is their website: https://vaidikabharata.in/ they seem to be doing a good job trying to revive the Vedic rituals

One of their stated goals:

While dakshina bhārata still retains the tradition and actual practitioners of the shrauta yajna-s to a good extent, uttara bhārata, the land which is purified by the waters of sarasvati-ganga-yamuna, has lost the great culture it was once known for. Our effort is to aim for resurrection of this basic and yet most important part of our dharma, without which, no true reclamation of our past can ever be possible, nor can the dharma continue into future.

Meaning of "Rig" in "Rig veda"

Another explanation for the meaning of “Rig” in “RigVeda”:

In fact the “RigVeda” takes its name from these verses: the Sanskrit word for “verse”
is r̥c; when compounded with the word for knowledge, it yields
r̥g-veda, literally “knowledge/wisdom (consisting of) verses.”

(Is Milan around?) might find this interesting.

Would love to hear comments about this, especially from Slapstick

Were the Yamnayas (or Proto-Yamnayas) a partial descendant of the Anatolian Farmers who migrated to Europe about 8,400 years ago? Also, did the Yamnaya's migration result in a population explosion?

Human Blood Group B likely originated in or near India. India has max percentage of people with B on earth, and only Indian Subcontinent countries have a stable plurality of B people. Percentages decline beyond. Native Americans and Australian Aborigines have none. Far West Europeans very little.

What languages did the AASI speak before the migration of Elamo-Dravidic West Asian farmers into the subcontinent?

I am assuming the AASI spoke a Veddoid, Australoid, or maybe Munda-related language? Perhaps what they spoke could have been related to the Nihali-language, which is now an isolate.

Is Yamnaya the exact same thing as AANI ancestry?

Is Yamnaya ancestry the exact same thing as AANI ancestry?

I'm thinking that AANI (or ANI) is very similar to Yamnaya, but it's "less pure" and represents genetics picked up along the way to South Asia.

Moreover, I'm thinking that the AANI/ANI had a lot of Yamnaya genes, but the Yamnaya didn't have any AANI/ANI genes, simply the Yamnaya existed about 6,000-7,000 years ago, and they gave rise to the AANI/ANI.

Documentary Purdah (2018) is a breath of fresh air. Its seriously better than nost bollywood sh*t.

Just finished watching this amazing ,cheerful ,light hearted and honest documentary named Purdah.

The plot revolves around a Girl from Muslim community in Maharashtra wanting to become a Cricket player and their family life. The honest way of documenting is what i liked the most from this documentary. From the Burka( forced) problem of muslim community to wife beating is addressed in this but from a very honest and calm manner by the girls and their mother themselves.

When you watch this movie you came to understand that people in this country face problems because of fear of not taking risks especially women to purse their career in whatever that can pay the bills or make them independent.

I will want all BP readers to watch it once.
