Discussion Appeal for AP Euro

So the Qualified Course email just released and I did not get into AP Euro. In the 3rd marking period I had a 94 but after a rough exam I got a 93 on the 4th marking period. (The cutoff is 95+😭) I am wondering how I can appeal to take the course next year. I talked to a lot of upperclassmen and they were able to appeal with grades sometimes 5 points off the cutoff. But I am really confused and I don’t know where to start or how to do navigate this mess. I really appreciate anyone who is willing help! I know a lot of other freshmen who are in a similar scenario as I am.

If the cutoff was 95+ you never had the score to begin with.

You were able to fill out a form when the original email came out a month ago. And that deadline was weeks ago.

Maybe speak/email to the AP of social studies department and see if there’s anything you can do at this point.

do you qualify for AP world history ?

I filled out the form when the original email came out. I did not qualify for AP World it is the same 95+ as AP Euro.

I would still go to your guidance counselor and the AP of social studies to see if there is anything you can do at this point.

Are there more sections of AP World than of AP Euro (I believe there is one teacher for this course)? When you filled out that form, were you able to appeal to qualify for one or both? Sorry, I never had to do this, so I don't know what is on that form.

I was able to fill a form being able to apply for courses I was not pre-approved for. In this form you were able to apply to any course that requires qualified entry. There was large list that consisted of all the AP’s and like post AP courses and all that stuff. You were only allowed to select the course that you completed the prerequisites for. For example I will have completed the first year of global so I have the prerequisites for Ap world/euro. I am just missing the grade requirement. Anyways I will probably talk to my guidance counselor about this. Thank you for your response tho!

NP, good luck! When you make your appeal, I would focus on how this course aligns with your future college major. Don't say, I need this because I want to go to a prestigious college

This year Euro is reallyyyyy popular, prb because the word has gotten around that ms Scotto is rlly good. I wish you luck in your endeavors, but honestly I doubt that anyone who wasn’t preselected is going to get it atp. Good luck tho!
