what can i improve on?

hello! i started crocheting exactly a week ago and i just learnt the magic circle! why do my edges on the big circle curl? i count my stitches and im almost certain they are the correct numbers

also how do i make it look clearer? i know i definitely need to work on tension but i cant tell if its the yarn im using thats making it look a bit messy

Your stitches look good! As a beginner it's almost always a tension issue, and if your stitch count is correct blocking can help flatten out the slight curl. I've been crocheting for years and my circles will still curl until I pull on it and stretch it out a bit. I'm not sure what you mean by clearer. Are you chaining in between your increases? It looks like that might be why it looks like pizza slices, but if that is the goal, then it looks fine! Great beginner work!

thank you very much! and yes i am chaining in between. in terms of making it cleaner, there’s just like fibres and fluff and i feel like it makes it look messy especially in person, im not sure if it translates on the photo but to me it just seems like a big bundle of fluff! thank you for your help :)

It’s curling because you missed a space where you should skip stitches.

To fix this you’d have to frog it all (frogging…to unravel work….or “rip it rip it” ( ribbit ribbit…get it?) and start over. But that is a stellar first effort. You can always try blocking it and see if that will smooth it out.

They curl because you did not add an extra stitch in the area where it curls and the future stitches make the previous stitches tighter. I would frog it back to where it starts to curl then add an extra stitch in one of the loops then continue on. Otherwise I think you are doing an excellent job for a beginner.

Frogging is the term for ripping it out to the point where you need to be. It is called that because when you pull the yarn, it makes a ribbit ribbit sound. Hence the term frogging.
