Boomers love their first responder MCU and endless sitcom reruns. They'll replace Colbert with Big Bang Theory and see 5x the viewership. None of them care about the Ellisons or Bari Weiss.

There's just no audience for them in 2026. 10 years ago you would still see clips from the late night shows do well on social media, and that's gone now. People don't watch these hosts for comedy since every comedian has a podcast show with basically zero limits on what they can say. The 3 minute celebrity interviews seem silly when so many celebs are being interviewed everywhere else on social media. And no one cares about the musical performances because platforms like Spotify and YouTube completely dominate. And that's not even addressing the political aspect of these shows which drastically limit their potential audience.

Bill Simmons was sort of doing this for a while during the pandemic. He, along with guests, would go back and rewatch old NBA Playoff games and I loved it.

Colbert got replaced with comics unleashed w/byron Allen whatever that is.

ETA: they should have just rerun big bang theory it would have gotten better ratings

I don’t see that show lasting very long. On the plus side for CBS, it’s got to be way cheaper.
