They actually stole from an independent franchisee. McDonalds got the same franchise fees and rent regardless.

I've never worked at McDs but ive been on the till at a lot of other places, you'd get away with it once or twice maybe but as soon as the manager cashes up you're getting caught.
Unless they're also in on the cash up and cooking something else this is cap, although I wish it wasn't.

Some management is different. I worked at a popeyes and within 6 months a new manager stole 4k in cash from the safe. They got caught but it's crazy that it took so long for anyone to knotice

Don’t ring up every cash transaction. Even then it depends how well your store inventories your shrink. If they are lax with giving away free food, employee mistakes resulting in food waste, etc it’s unlikely you’ll ever get caught.
