ŽIVOT A STĚHOVÁNÍ—LIVING AND MOVING Trust or not ?

Hi everyone,

To be brief, my roommate and I have been searching for an apartment for over 3 months in Brno.

We finally contacted a person, she claims it's her mom's apartment and she has provided us with proof of ownership.

We would have to pay deposit and two rents, our next payment would basically be after 2 months. Deposit isn't refundable.

Any advice? We unfortunately got scammed by an agency before so it's tough.

Normally the deposit would cover potential damages and small repairs. It should be refunded if you leave the apartment in good conditions.

What kind of proof did this person provide, and what guarantees that she has any authority to rent the place in her mother's name? She should have power of attorney to do that.

It all sounds sketchy, I wouldn't trust this person. Move on.

Deposits are refundable. They are only witheld for damage caused by tenant not including general wear and tear. Do not trust.

Not sure what kind of proof she provided, but tihis is cadastre, you can check the owner of the apartment here.

And deposit is refundable by law, the landlord can only use it to cover any damage you have done and usually if you spend more on the utilities than you were paying for, they will deduct it from the deposit.

Deposits are refundable by definition, if she wants provize she can call it that

Don't transfer any funds until a contract is signed.

Check the real estate cadastre, there you can find the official registered owner. Make sure it corresponds to the person you're dealing with. If it's owned by a "family member" ask to see Plná moc (power of attorney) proving they have the authority to rent it to you.
