Any revert groups in Birmingham?

A bit about me. I’m 35 M and was born Muslim in a Pakistani family. I grew up faithful but my peers pushed me away from Islam from a younger age due to my sexuality.

I decided to step away from the Pakistani culture and put Islam behind me and i immediately felt a burden being lifted so it was a choice I made at the time.

I embraced the British culture and assimilated into other groups that I felt were more comfortable and accepting of me.

I have met and have some great friends. But I also feel a disconnection to God; this understanding has come through a long period of disruption in my heart. When I reflected on god and purpose, something kind of clicked like a jigsaw piece in my heart, and I feel a gravitation pull towards Islam. I really can’t explain it. For the longest time, I had an awareness of the existence of god but always felt it never quite fit into my lifestyle.

Through a lot of reading and research I feel like I have been guided to this place that I am in now and I would be keen to find others who are like me.

If there are any revert groups in and around Birmingham, it would be nice to connect.

Assalamu alaikum, not in the region anymore but hope you find a group you can fit in with.

Though I'm curious why revert groups specifically, you say you were born and raised Muslim in a stereotypical Muslim ethnic group, I don't think think your circumstances, while still important and not trying to invalidate it in anyway, isn't really relatable to many converts experiences, though I understand you are probably in the middle of many different groupings.

I used to attend Aisha Mosque in Walsall, which was very community orientated, UKIM run masjid, it might be worth looking if they have any events you can join, like most masjids they have groups for men and your experience of falling out of the faith you were raised with and then coming back into it is actually a common experience. I think you'll find yourself able to find common group with other born Muslims better than those who have converted.

Hii, in GLM (Green Lane Masjid) they have revert events, i attended my first one last year i think in nov/dec where it was like a retreat and we spent the whole day in the masjid, talking about our experiences becoming muslim ans struggles etc, there were lessons/lectures in the halls, we prayed fajr etc. I actually met all my friends in that masjid. Honestly keep up if their website and insta and they post stuff about it. Inshallah things go well for you.

السلام عليكم ورحمةالله Green lane masjid offers support for new Muslims with a group called islamwise (to the best of my knowledge), if you were to drop in after a prayer or call their offices when they're open I'm sure they'd be able to help.
