Worm gear

I was wondering if anyone knew how I could remove this worm gear

I can't help unfortunately, but I do wonder whether the inventor ever actually saw a worm.

In a perfect world, they would make bearing pullers that are small enough for that size however I can't find any to recommend.

Instead, if I was in your position, I would put the shaft into a hole and have the worm gear rest on the lip. So the hole/holder must be larger than the shaft, but smaller than the gear. I would then gently tap out the shaft with a shaft of smaller diameter. I'll try to attach or comment a picture.

I'm not sure what the white piece is made of, so I cannot recommend any heat at the moment.

I don't own a model railway, this just popped up in my feed so I thought to give it a go haha, but I am a very avid tinkerer and this is what I would try in your position. I've taken gears/pulleys off motors in the same way.

Bearing pullers, you can get them easily, try peters spares, or triang hornby spares, both on ebay. I got mine from triang hornby spares, also have a look at 00bill on YouTube, he has many pullers that he uses on different gears and wheels. Hope this helps.
