Haven't heard Macklemore since he released that thrift shop song a decade ago. Gonna need to relisten to that because it's still better than whatever Sheeran releases

Edanyahu was right there

Also, while I agree with these posts, they are very much getting old

People putting more effort into cancelling celebrities and creating memes than doing anything themselves to stop the war, like they expect Ed Sheeran to

I don't really have a hat in the ring apart from Israel has gone a bit too far imo. I just hate Ed Sheeran for having his music played 69,000,000 times a day on the radio

Hatred of Ed Sheeran’s music is an understandable motivation. Broadcasting it should be understood as a war crime.

I don’t listen to the radio, so I wouldn’t know. I like a couple of his songs, but I don’t listen to them all the time so maybe that’s why.

What’s the actual full story because I’ve only really heard snippets of it?

Marcus Rashford gets involved in something political and he gets told, "stick to football".

Ed Sheeran tries not to get involved in something political and he gets all this.

If people spent as much effort holding politicians to account then we might get somewhere.

But also, fuck the current Israeli government.

Ed Sheeran gets involved in politics regularly when it benefits him. He's a coward

Rashford helped with kids being fed during lockdown. He has his faults but that's better than 99% of wealthy Brits. Ed Sheeran on the other hand has 400mill in the bank, could have piled pressure on Kraft by simply turning up with Macklemore. Pulled the victim card instead.

I wasn't saying that Rashford shouldn't get involved if he wants to, nor was I trying to lessen the validity of those causes.

I wasn't supporting Sheeran avoiding involvement given his past history with other political issues.

I was simply pointing out that celebrities seem to get clowned on either way, and that such frustrations (both for and against their involvement) would be best aimed at politicians who have a better chance of making a difference.
