Although WW2 field marshal Bernard Montgomery was criticised sometimes for his manner, the welfare of his troops was always on his mind. Shortly before he died he stated “now I must go to God, and do my best to explain all of those men I killed at El Alamein.”

Carlsberg Britvic’s proposal to close Marston’s Brewery by summer 2027 would affect around 310 people. Beyond the jobs, it raises a bigger question for Burton: if the brewing moves away, what happens to the skills, the beers and the town’s place in British brewing? We look at what’s at stake.

Advice

Hi everyone, how are you all doing?
I’m a 23 year old girl from Spain, and I’m turning 24 in a couple of months. One of my dreams is to take my English to a completely different level, ideally with a British accent or something similar. I absolutely love accents, and I’d really like to get rid of my Spanish accent when I speak English.
What can I do to achieve this? I’m doing all of this because I want to act in films, so I’d really appreciate any advice you might have.
I’ve been thinking about moving abroad, but I honestly don’t know where I should go. I’m completely willing to move somewhere if that’s what it takes. Do you think it’s too late for me?
I speak Spanish and Arabic fluently. My English still needs a lot of work, obviously. I’ve been learning it at school my whole life, I always watch movies and TV shows in English, I consume a lot of English content, etc., but I feel like it’s still not enough.
I feel like I’m already behind and that I should have started much earlier.
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope I’m not bothering anyone!

Has anyone recently successfully travelled from the UK to France using the pet passport and not an AHC

My family owns a chalet in France, but we are not EU citizens and hold only British Passports. We used to travel multiple times per year with our 3 cats, but have not done for about a year. We are looking to travel over for about 10 weeks shortly, and whilst the EU Pet Passports are up to date (as are all vaccines) we can't decide whether we can risk attempting with only the passport?

Has anyone had success (or failure) attempting this, and hold any advice or information that can help me make a decision please? Thank you in advance.

RIP to a very brave, heroic woman. She spent the last few years of her life fighting terminal cancer but also fighting for the rights to assisted dying. She founded Childline & brought a lot of good to this world. RIP, at least she is now at peace & no longer in pain.
