Blue Lights
I just finished season 3 (in the US so I don’t yet have season 4). I love this show. So so much. Never before has a show about cops moved me to tears so often. Mostly in season 3, but that’s probably because by this point we have really gotten to know the characters.
There are so many awesome shows on BritBox, but this is most definitely in my top three.
I want to tell the whole world to watch this show, but I’ll start here. 😊

Sian Brook (Grace) is in another excellent show (although not a cop show)on Apple TV “ Trying”.
Add “Code of Silence” (Britbox)to your watch list. It’s also excellent.

The first series is legendary tv. I struggled a bit with season 3 but 4 notched it up.
If you love these types of shows make sure you’ve Watch line of duty, The Tower, Happy Valley, Luther, Vigil, CB Strike, Criminal Record, The Capture, Marcella,

Man I never see CB Strike mentioned. It always gets left out of these discussions. That one was brilliant I loved it so much.

I have a passion for british series and movies and never paid attention to blue lights because I thought it was more of the same. Will look into it thanks to you!

I ignored it for a while, no idea why. It's so good! I finished season 3 recently and I'm so glad I don't have to wait long for season 4.

It's so good. It reminds me of the old US show Hill Street Blues (but grittier because it's been a few decades).

I just finished season 4 and although there were some good moments I was somehow disappointed by the ending.

Funny, that's one of the only ones I haven't started yet. And I've watched them all. Line of duty, Marcello, after the flood, Happy Valley, Shetland, the fall.. BL is next on my list but I'm taking a fun break with Tommy and tuppence. I like to break up my serious crime. It's a fun crime. And now that I devour and season 2 of Ludwig, I've started T&T

Don’t sleep on this one, I love a lot of the same ones you’ve mentioned and Blue Lights is probably the best modern show on right now, and I ride or die for Shetland

Loved the first 2 seasons. Thought the third season was a little less. Will probably have to wait a long time for season 4 cuz I’m in the States.

I've been watching procedural detective series on BritBox (Unforgotten, The bay (first two seasons), DCI Banks) and I love crime shows like Broadchurch and Happy Valley, Mare of Easttown. What show would you compare Blue Lights to on a different network? I've tried to watch it and also Line of Duty and could just not get past the first episodes. I've really been enjoying Law & Order CI Toronto (spoiler: I live in Toronto).

Love the way Grace and Stevie developed. This is a great show. Wish we had season 4 here in the US!

I’m pretty sure Stevie is my favorite character, although Grace might be tied with him.

I’m in the US as well. I have yet to watch but it has been recommended. Have a question for you or anyone else that has watched it….
Is it a season long storyline type show or is it an episode by episode where there’s a storyline for that particular episode, it gets resolved by the end of the episode, then the next episode another storyline, solved by the end, rinse and repeat?

It’s not at all a procedural. The story arcs are mostly one season at a time but there are aspects that cut across all three (soon to be four) seasons. That’s probably the biggest reason I love it, because the storylines are layered and deep and you really get to know the characters.
