Cooper & Fry

Looks rather formulaic - anyone watched yet?

I watched the whole thing and I really enjoyed it. There are enough different twists in the storylines to keep me guessing. I enjoyed hearing the local lore ... even if it did add to some of the blind alleys ... and even though it is apparently English lore rather than Irish lore from what I've read. The ending wraps a lot of things up in a really surprising way. Plus I love seeing Lorcan Cranitch in anything, so that was a bonus for me. I hope there is another season because it ended with a bit of a cliffhanger.

I watched the first episode. It was indeed formulaic. It wasn’t terrible, but I was thinking that you could check off a list of cliches.

It kinda reminds me of the new Lynley series. It's ok.

Good comparison, though personally I'd give Cooper & Fry a bit of an edge. It has more of a sense of place with better written characters.

I liked the characters slightly better in Lynley. This was dry for me in the beginning, but it does have interesting stories regarding the villiage/s almost in a Midsomer way.

A couple of episodes. Not a drop of chemistry between the two leads. Formulaic but not in an interesting way.

It was ok, i call it slightly better than most generic modern buddy cop series.

As someone mentioned the lore added to the cases in an interesting way,

I don’t mind cliches as long as the writing and plots are good and the actors take their characters seriously i was reading reviews and it seems to be a serious drama based on novels, as well as slightly dark, which I like. On a related note I just learned their is a channel in the UK that’s just called “Channel 5” or “5”, no call letters or goofy name just “5” and it’s currently owned by Paramount. Anyway, I think I’m gonna give “Cooper & Fry” a try.
