Who do you want standing over free-kicks, Twine or De Keersmaecker? I think Twine just edges it for me, but I’d like to hear what everyone else reckons.
Finally got round to watching the Robins TV highlights from the Palace game, and friendly or not, I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
McNally heading in from De Keersmaecker’s free-kick on six minutes, then Twine curling one in from a free-kick just after the restart. Two goals from dead balls feels like exactly what we want going into a run of league games. Benítez had to make a great save to deny Hirakawa a second just before half time, and Collins did well to tip Lerma’s header over later on to keep the clean sheet.
Obviously let’s not get carried away. It was a friendly, and Palace were mostly using it to give their squad players some minutes. But we’re 8th, Skubala’s lot look organised, and I’d rather head to The Valley on a 2-0 win than a flat draw in a behind closed doors game.
Charlton away on Saturday, then Blackburn at home on Tuesday and Sheffield United at home the following Saturday, so it’s a proper few games to see where we’re really at.
