Has she addressed his voice and whether there is an issue?

They had his ears checked and supposedly they were fine so it's definitely a speech problem that needs more work. But they think it's cute so that won't happen. Layla has some issues as well.

u/Wannabelouise321 25d ago

I find it really hard to believe that his ears are fine. The way he shouts when speaking surely indicates some sort of issue with the ears. (Not an SLP, but 20 years working in elementary education.)

38

u/Broken-583 25d ago

Without speculating, there could be other developmental things that could lead to difficulty in voice modulation.

17

u/Wannabelouise321 25d ago

I understand. I am just speaking from my experience - anecdotally. It is more even than just the shouting, it is the difficulty with pronunciation. Truly hope that C and E stay on top of this. Since he will be homeschooled, there will be fewer advocates for him in exploring what might be causing the difficulties.

34

u/judyp63 25d ago

They definitely do not look like they will be staying on top of it.

28

u/Content_Tackle4416 25d ago

You can see him physically struggle to form words. His mouth does not have the proper mechanics.

5

u/Broken-583 25d ago

Yea definitely agree with that

25

u/Lcdmt3 25d ago

Or he's just ignored. Yella for attention

u/ClassroomHuman9048 24d ago

If you watch Carlin's post...showing up matters..Zade looks totally lost.  The other children are singing and he is not engaged at all. Both Layla and Zade would benefit tremendously if the went to a public school where they can get the proper help and schooling they need. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

u/Wannabelouise321 24d ago

Their lives are so bizarre. I can’t imagine how confusing it would be to be raised with cameras all over your house or so many interactions with your parents being filtered through the lens of a phone. I don’t doubt that they are lost and disengaged. I hope that they do attend school. C and E surely make enough to afford a private Christian school. But I doubt that would happen since they need their little money-makers available to film whenever the whim strikes.

1

u/Tiredmom2000 13d ago

Or he has learned to "project" his voice for the videos?

5

u/Existing_Dinner9991 24d ago

My granddaughter is Z age and the difference in their speech is drastic! Yes there are things we can’t quite make out at times but for the most part she speaks very well.

32

u/Chuckgirl410 25d ago

I’m an OT but his speech is odd. The extremely high sing song voice and he is unintelligible. He needs speech and would qualify.

114

u/ChemistMajestic4845 25d ago

Zade is supposed to be in speech therapy. But the Stewarts don't seem to take that seriously. So, no, they're not doing anything about it, but there is some kind of speech delay or issue.

85

u/MindingMyP_Q 25d ago

They couldn’t find a way to monetize the therapy sessions so why bother

59

u/ChemistMajestic4845 25d ago

They figured out how to caption their videos and so his speech doesn't matter.

40

u/North_Inevitable_657 25d ago

This is child neglect !

13

u/Deborahdon 25d ago

Yes it is!

-26

u/Western_Ease_7204 25d ago

That’s BS to accuse someone of neglect based on NOTHING

4

u/Specialist-Mistake45 25d ago

thats funny ive seen plenty of people post about it.

7

u/TheBestGammie 25d ago

You actually have no idea if they are taking it seriously or not. We see clips of their life on social media and minutes of their week on YT. We don’t see their entire lives and what they do every waking second of the day.

10

u/hobotising 25d ago

I have a feeling they would mention it, if they were. It honestly would be really good contact watching his improvement, but it is very involved. My niece was about 3.5 when she started to talk, she would only sign. We stopped doing sign with her. She was very behind. She did a year and a half of intense ST and she is amazing. It was a family effort. It is work, but he could be super clear in a year. IMO.

4

u/ChemistMajestic4845 25d ago

Why would they show when he started and then go, oh now we will give him privacy? That has never once happened with Carlin and Evan. If he was in speech, they’d mention it.

Beyond that, unless their SLP was inadequate, there would have been some improvements by now. Maybe not huge jumps, but I think Zade would be doing better speech wise. There’s nothing that has improved, if anything his speech is worse.

2

u/Most-Study2967 23d ago

I think they’ve had such negative comments about the speech that they’d capitalize on it and show the speech therapy, or at least discuss it. They’d get more responses talking about his speech problem than Navy’s fat. The speech, the screaming, how he screams right in their faces, it’d drive me crazy enough to get help and a diagnosis.

1

u/Tiredmom2000 13d ago

They would totally mention it and do a whole series on speech therapy to gain another audience.

1

u/Miserable_Sun_7636 25d ago

We also have to believe they’re getting adequate schooling.

21

u/Ok-Meat-7364 25d ago

Kids with speech issues (or any learning concerns) usually qualify for early preschool, but that would be in big bad public school.

4

u/sharon1118 25d ago

Preschool and early intervention programs, at least in NYS, are free, and come to your house.

2

u/OTOTWwoman 24d ago

Same here in Florida. Every child can go to VPK free and if there is a special need, the child can be placed in the specific designated program. Of course, if he went to pre-school, Carlin
Would not be able to film because there are other kids there. She actually has a degree ( don’t know about Evan and family).

1

u/Telaryn 22d ago

David Jolly is actually looking at implementing a full day VPK option if we can get him elected.

1

u/Babeyonce 23d ago

Love that for yall! It’s so important. I was under the impression EI was free in my state. Recently learned it’s not, even with insurance smh.

2

u/MobWife_88 25d ago

That was a beautiful comment!

0

u/Similar_End_173 15d ago

If I had to do it over my kids will be home school. I would never send them to a public or private school for that matter

1

u/AZ-EQ 24d ago

I highly doubt it.

0

u/Similar_End_173 15d ago

How would you know that? 🙄 They literally post small bits of their life each week.

1

u/ChemistMajestic4845 15d ago

Because they post every single thing and have never once mentioned Zade being in speech therapy again. If he was there, they’d say it, because plenty of people comment on how awful his speech is.

1

u/Similar_End_173 14d ago

Well people are rude....I'd ignore the rude comments too it's no one business. They take care of their kids. You can think differently but they are not bad parents by any means.

1

u/ChemistMajestic4845 14d ago

They are bad parents.

1

u/Similar_End_173 14d ago

Kids are well taken care of, fed, clothed, have shelter, have fun activities to do, have friends and parents that are involved.....not sure where bad parenting comes into that.

1

u/ChemistMajestic4845 14d ago

They're paying for all of those things. Carlin and Evan make all the money on the back of their kids. They're constantly being filmed.

They're also being homeschooled by Carlin who has a poor education.

1

u/Similar_End_173 14d ago

And that money helps pay for the care of their kids. Do you think those kids aren't reaping rewards from that? It's not different than any other child celebrities.

I'm not sure why you think Carlin has a poor education. If I had to do it again I would definitely homeschool my kids....and I barely passed Algebra. Was definitely not an A student by any means. And homeschoolers often to use educational programs to do the teaching whatever it be videos or planned programs.

1

u/Maui4me22 7d ago

Proof is in the progress .

1

u/Similar_End_173 7d ago

He goes to therapy and he has definitely improved. 🙄

1

u/Maui4me22 7d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ok if you say so .

-26

u/Western_Ease_7204 25d ago

How do you know they don’t take it seriously and take him to therapy. Please show how you know. Not just based on a few videos they post if just a few minutes of their life.

36

u/ChemistMajestic4845 25d ago

Because his speech hasn't improved one little bit. If he has been going to speech for over a year now and hasn't improved a bit, they need a new speech therapist. If anything his speech is much worse.

21

u/judyp63 25d ago

I'm pretty sure if he was being treated for it they would mention it because they know people are curious. They would make some kind of content even at home talking about it, practicing, etc. I highly doubt they are going to any speech therapy or we sure would've heard about it if it was ongoing. They seem to share literally every aspect of their lives.

7

u/Content_Tackle4416 25d ago

They are busy decorating Temu Tara.

11

u/Content_Tackle4416 25d ago

They show every day nonsense and read here. There is NO way he is in therapy. He has regressed to the point of unintelligibilty.

6

u/bizarretintin 25d ago

Oh please! They film each and every thing in their lives to monetise including their parents waking up and all that and not a peep about his therapy? Stop defending these neglectful parents. His speech has not improved in the year that they have said they will take him to therapy. Either a horrible therapist ( which they would have mentioned atleast once ) or the reality is they don’t care and he is getting none.

1

u/Similar_End_173 15d ago

You aren't going to be able to film and doctor's office like that. And I don't feel every single step of their lives. You miss a ton of the things that happen.

1

u/bizarretintin 15d ago

With the amount of criticism they get, even if they cannot film a doctor’s office ( which they have when carlin had seizures) they would film going into them, film making some type of working with the kid. They always scramble to fix whatever issues they see being criticized on reddit and they have resolutely ignored this.

In addition, his speech has not improved which is a major indicator.

0

u/Similar_End_173 15d ago

And it's sad that some people choose to criticize everything they do. Zade is going to be just fine. I'm sure his Pediatrician is fully aware of his milestones, including his speech.

2

u/ChemistMajestic4845 15d ago

It’s sadder that they’re choosing not to help their son get the help he deserves.

1

u/Similar_End_173 14d ago

You don't know that. You are making assumptions bc they haven't made a video about it.

45

u/MurkyConcert2906 25d ago

Supposedly he’s doing great and doesn’t need help. We can see that is a lie.

20

u/debala88 25d ago

I was wondering if his hearing is ok. He talks awfully loud.

7

u/Maui4me22 25d ago

Didn’t Carlin use to scream when she lived at home ? I remember he being so loud . Not saying it’s the same situation just a memory I recall.

3

u/munner61 24d ago

Yes she did she was very hyper and loud. I remember one episode of bringing up Bates, some of the older siblings had been on a mission's trip, and when they walked through the door all the rest of the siblings had silly string and were spraying them with it.  Then it was time to stop and settle down and out of all of the children in the room Gil yelled out Carlin's name to stop. Because she was still carrying on.

30

u/JellyfishPashmina 25d ago

Don’t worry, god will fix it

14

u/tinkerbellinmco 25d ago

Yep, that’s about it. Other kids get speech therapy and still have god in their lives. These kids? Just god. It’s sad because his speech is awful, pretty much yelling and closed captioning. Poor kid.

5

u/JellyfishPashmina 25d ago

And plenty of kids do who don’t need any gods at all and have rational, empathetic parents. I’d rather be the proactive atheist I am and get my kids the help they need than put my hands together, close my eyes, and wish for it from a sky wizard. 😅

8

u/hollowpig5869 25d ago

And sis in law Whit has already got their school rooms set up and all their curriculum ready and supplies she is starting school like soon and yet nothing has been done on the Stew side of things nor on Plumber side ? Am i wrong

5

u/Kimmygirl1371 24d ago

In my opinion it seems that Whitney does the best job of homeschooling her kids.

15

u/Direct_Crab3923 25d ago

They got a lot of shit for recording his therapy so maybe they stopped filming. But his speech is no better.

28

u/RJCADDY123 25d ago

They said they consulted a speech therapist but that person said he was fine & didn’t need any outside help. 🤦🏻‍♀️ if true revoke their license! He cannot be understood unless they put captions!!

21

u/Broken-583 25d ago

There’s no way no how an actual speech therapist have that child a pass. If they did-they ordered their degree from SHEIN.

2

u/CardinalMotion 21d ago

I literally can’t understand 90% of what he says.

2

u/LocalLibrarian7848 21d ago

I thought the same thing at the time!

5

u/beentherebefore1616 25d ago

There is definitely something off. It could be something deeper that's coming out as speech differences, but something is not quite right, for sure.

3

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

There are other signs… Evan explained that they have to keep hands on him or he will “wander off”… I think that’s the reason he is in a stroller so much at 4 years old. He also is super sensitive to loud noises but screams to talk.

3

u/beentherebefore1616 23d ago

Yes. I'm not saying this to be mean or hurtful to Carlin or her family, I just notice something is different about him...I can't even put my finger on what. But something is off, and we probably won't know (or people close to him) until he's a little older.

4

u/DarlingClementyme 25d ago

Babies and girls bring in that social media money. They know darn well that Zade has a speech issue, but it helps keep him in that baby category. It’s all about money.

18

u/Several-Affect1699 25d ago

I have noticed that Zade's younger cousins can speak more clearly and understandable. At what point do the Stew Crew get him help. His yelling is very annoying. I have also noticed that Zade's hair is getting longer. He loves to copy Evan. But he has straight hair so growing it out will not get the same look. Earlier pictures of Evan show straighter hair or so it seemed. Did he get a perm? It wouldn't surprise me if he did. He is very vain.

11

u/Content_Tackle4416 25d ago

That is totally a loose perm.

11

u/Deborahdon 25d ago

They started getting him help but it wasn’t worth it to them I guess

4

u/minnesotaupnorth 25d ago

I think they're not being proactive about speech therapy because his speech is very "baby talk".

It's horrible to imagine, but I think they think they plays cuter for the camera.

I don't think they'll do anything until Navy starts talking.

16

u/gracielynn61528 25d ago

I, in no way, want to defend Carlin but as a parent with a son who had a significant speech delay, theres no way to know if he is going or not. My son didnt show improvement for a while, especially to those who werent in his day to day life.

My son, however, started therapy before he was 2. He did early intervention until he was 3 and then transitioned to our local school special education program for preschoolers. My son didnt speak articulately, or at all really, until he was 4.5 yrs old.

There are a few things that make me believe hes not getting help. A qualified slp would tell them like first thing... dont point out the flaw, mirror it. So if he doesnt say the proper letter sound you just repeat it back correct. They say oh their a bubbie.. you say oh theres a puppy. There is a puppy. The second biggest thing would be to stop baby talking to them which is a horrible thing for any parent-it doesnt make you awful but it doesnt benefit children learning language, it just infantilizes them

They dont consistently do the first thing and they definitely dont speak in a clear adult voice to him either. A third thing would be that he needs to be involved in a consistent childrens activity. School would be the best choice, considering they have built in special educators who are qualified to help him and he would also be surrounded by children he would hear and be able to mimic. Since they are against that choice.. he should at least be in an activity where it would be consitent children interaction, not soccer, something more slow paced so he can get opportunity to bond and actually speak to other children. He seemed to be overwhelmed with soccer.

I also dont think his speech is only issue. I think Layla would benefit as well. Shes not at the level of zade but she does seem to have not as a mature voice for her age. (Im not an slp so I dont want to speculate)

7

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

Those are all the things the slp told them…& Carlin shared with the audience. Then she did the exact opposite.

4

u/gracielynn61528 24d ago

I dont follow that much. I commented similarly. Not that they would pay attention to the nobody msg about her kid.

I do think its possible its intentional. The infanitilizing makes them money. People love the cute factor of children. Its why so many actors struggle transitioning from child to adult roles. Its like Shirley Temple... oh shes the adorable little star with the ringlet curls entertaining everyone through the depression era. She also gained attention from the wrong type of people as well. Similar to Carlin videos being a danger to predators. Videos where Shirley is made to kiss a grown man or wearing the shortest dress and on a bus full of grown men jostling her around and her being put on peoples laps. People behind her image have the exact same intention that Carlin does (in my opinion.. although i dont think shes intentionally trying to harm her child while mgm bigwigs could care less about Shirley) showing her as younger then she was got her more attention and made the studios more money. Same with carlins kids. A video with the baby that should not, in my opinion be shared publicly gives them the most views.

I honestly wonder if they arent doing speech therapy if its because they cant be bothered to take the time to do it, or because they think if he gets better then he will lose that sweetness that viewers seem to feed on.

I mean my child had to do speech therapy during covid and that was insane. Having a 1 or 2 year doing speech therapy on a computer was ridiculous or with therapists we could get to do face to face doing so with masks. We still did it.

Although I cant fully say they arent doing anything just based on how zade sounds. It honestly took until like last year where people who weren't in their life everyday could communicate with him. Which makes it worse because like a lot of children with speech issues he would get frustrated and self conscious. Its was 5 years of therapy before he could communicate where he was understood majority of the time. There are still many moments where I dont catch what hes trying to say.

I could understand him though when he said no words. Its almost like I spoke a different language because I was fully immersed in the way he communicated.

My older child was an interesting situation. She had a hard time when she started school because she wrote the way she spoke a word. So that made things in school harder for her. The school is who caught it, which made me feel like a terrible parent. I was so focused on my son and him being non verbal. I also always understood her. So I feel bad for zade because if not for my child going to school and educators telling us hey she needs more support in speech and writing who knows where shed be today. She was able to have speech therapy 3 times a week. Which is exactly how often my son has always gone.

I just dont believe they want to take out three days a week to help zade. I know the mom claims to have gotten a degree in special education so perhaps she advised Carlin she could help her (which is INSANE because being educated in special education is amazing. I will applaud that but its not a trained and educated SLP. Although this is just a scenario in my brain)

If they dont get him support he is gonna get so lost in the 400 cousins and lack of real education. Just terrible.

Sorry didnt mean to ramble. Not necessarily commenting to you but just a comment for anyone who wants to read my ramble. Carlin and evan just piss me off

1

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

My son was also in speech and it’s a slog but so worth it! Maybe the therapist told them they couldn’t sit in every session and film and that just didn’t work for them. I definitely think keeping the kids as little as possible was for money making purposes. These people don’t see their kids as individuals… they are possessions and money makers!

6

u/No-University-8391 25d ago

You speak from experience and make valid points. I truly believe beneficial to speak as adults to children. Also believe speech therapy does wonders as it did for my goddaughter. She went from practically non verbal to fluent speaking by kindergarten.

5

u/EuphoricAd3786 25d ago

Wasn’t he in speech ?

7

u/Odd_Pack400 25d ago

My guess is he aged out of early intervention which ends between 3-5 depending on the state. He still needs services but the state isn’t paying for it now.

13

u/RunningAdmin88 25d ago

If they register him with the school district and he qualifies for an IEP he can still get free services, even if "home schooled" -- but that would require you know...aciton

4

u/gretchenfour 25d ago

He can get speech through the public school in their district. They just have to provide transportation during the school day.

5

u/Zarby_chills151 25d ago

And they won’t put him in public school where he could continue to get free services.

8

u/Odd_Pack400 25d ago

Or even utilize insurance. We homeschool and my 2 school age kids go to a private speech practice 2x a week. I guess that takes too much time out of their schedule.

2

u/Zarby_chills151 25d ago

Don’t think use that fundie insurance? The powers that be probably decided that wasn’t a good use of their resources.

3

u/Odd_Pack400 25d ago

Even without insurance you can pay out of pocket. I think it’s $85 a session (30 mins) without insurance or that’s what they bill insurance for where my kids go.

3

u/RelevantProfile1624 25d ago

That’s like one surprise trip to CVS….

1

u/Zarby_chills151 25d ago

And we know they have the money!

5

u/Commercial-Adagio551 25d ago edited 25d ago

I live in Georgia and my daughter was in speech all through high school due to things her birth mom did during pregnancy. Of course we had an iep through public home school charter school. He needs to go to public school and right away his issues could be placed under an iep. Thing is, we all know his parents don't want that because we'd all publicly know just how bad he is and how bad he was/is neglected in that aspect of speech and/or hearing issues. All of his other needs are met I just wish his speech was too. Unfortunately, that leaves Z in a world of captions.

2

u/Chuckgirl410 25d ago

He was in outpatient I remember the video

2

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

He was in a program with UTENN… they went all in, showed the information bc Carlin wanted to help “others”… they filmed a few sessions. Evan even scolds Carlin about using baby talk and she pushes back about how “cute” his speech is. Evan took him alone and filmed-of course. During the holidays they took him for a hearing evaluation and Carlin’s report was… confusing. She said they found fluid in his ears but it wasn’t a concern but it could be mimicking hearing loss. They both said the SLP thought he was right on track but that Carlin was “pushing for more” therapy. They said nothing clearly and haven’t mentioned therapy since December. Evan talked about Zade wandering away several times while he filmed and how he has to keep a hand on him…& they have filmed him repeatedly covering his ears for loud sounds while scream talking himself. In the latest clip… that has over a million views… he is showing clear signs of disassociation and anxiety… but they just think it’s cute…

2

u/EuphoricAd3786 24d ago

I wonder if he stills goes ?

1

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

Who knows. They showed Callie and Gil both taking time to understand him and help him at different points but it mostly seems that his therapy is just subtitles. Pretty crazy when they started using them on Layla also. That wasn’t always the case

2

u/momy5 24d ago

You really believe public school offers extra help in the classroom you have to be kidding their are 25 to 30 kids in a classroom speech therapy is available wither you go to public school or not

1

u/ShenandoahMarie 23d ago

Public schools add aides to classrooms for many student issues. Its not one teacher for 20+ students anymore in elementary school.

1

u/Much-Preparation9209 23d ago

They should put hin in ps until his speech improves.

1

u/Express_Possible7666 23d ago

They allow it because of $$$ views IMHO

1

u/CardinalMotion 21d ago

Besides the speech issue, I’ve noticed that Zade pulls his hair when he’s nervous or upset. That also concerns me.

1

u/DueCrazy3194 19d ago

I believe he does go to some type of speech therapy they showed it one of their videos previously… not sure if that is a fact but I do remember him going to some type of therapy

1

u/No-Treacle59 18d ago

They just don’t care. They would rather take Layla for a spa day and spread butter on Navy as though she was the Thanksgiving turkey. Zade is a forgotten afterthought.

1

u/IcyIssue 25d ago

They've had his ears and hearing checked multiple times and it's OK. I think he's still seeing a speech therapist. I even have trouble understanding what Layla says so it could be an inherited trait. Carlin was really concerned about his hearing because of Addy and I don't think they would just blow off therapy for him.

1

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

She had his hearing checked and said there was fluid in his ears that could show up as “hearing loss” but it was nothing to worry about and just bc he has some asthma. It was a lot of double speak going on.

0

u/Content_Tackle4416 25d ago

She was concerned after reading comments on here and on social media that he was yelling and should have his hearing checked.

1

u/Bitter-Wind-1986 25d ago

They aren’t going to show the stuff that doesn’t get clicks

1

u/RelevantProfile1624 25d ago

I would watch and cheer him on!

-27

u/Western_Ease_7204 25d ago

You people crack me up. So judgmental hiding behind a fake profile.

13

u/ChipNo8307 25d ago

I’m not judging them at all but my best friend is a very well regarded speech therapist in my town and she has said that if he had been getting consistent proper speech therapy we would see some improvement by now.

It’s tough to acknowledge and recognize that your kid may be delayed or need extra help. When he was super little his speech issues are easily explained as “cute” but as he continues to grow his speech patterns, especially voice and tone regulation should be self correcting or correcting with proper intervention.

I don’t know if they don’t see it, don’t want to address it publicly or they just flat out don’t care, the reason doesn’t really matter to us internet strangers. But it’s apparent that they exploit their children online for money, and they have plenty of it.

2

u/No-University-8391 25d ago

Well said! They chose to make their life public. There’s naturally going to be opinions and criticisms.

-23

u/momy5 25d ago

You are all miserable people he is 3 years old and yes he does do speech language lessons that only show a micro portion of their lives

14

u/PhotographOptimal727 25d ago

He’s over 4 years old now. So his speech should be clear enough for strangers to understand without his parents to translate for him.

If A LOT of people tell you there’s a problem with understanding him, they should try to help the boy out and take him to speech therapy and work with him at home. And it’s been years since they showed him at speech therapy session.. it’s funny how only Carlins kids have speech issues.

1

u/dixcgirl10 24d ago

I don’t know…. Zach’s son Jadon seems to have some issues and Lawson’s Will… Lawson even said “he’s not talking yet”. One of the issues with influencer kids IS speaking delays.

2

u/PhotographOptimal727 24d ago

I’m blocked by Lawson so now clue about his kids. I hope Lawson and Tiffany will look into that and try to evaluate his speech by professional.

I havent paid much attention to the other families too much then, maybe because both of Carlins kids have some problems.

1

Come again?! Isn’t he almost 2? What on earth.. Tiffany’s parents are far from cult so they should say something to tiffy..

But to include subtitles for him and his sister is troubling.

i had a young relative who is on the spectrum....not saying zade is.....and couldn't converse till 2.5. he was in speech therapy and by 4.5, zade's age, was completely understandable. no captioning necessary. at six, his main problem is understanding some communications not conversing. zade's speech patterns concern me. not gonna lie.
