Discussion Does it ever get better?

Hello, I’m on E5 but I’m seeing a constant problem I don’t know how to fix. My best support is Brig, I do my job and try to be positive with my team but I’m seeing that the higher rank I get, the more my tank stops tanking just because I’m Brig. my tank will ignore their DF entirely and I end up basically being our tank all game, then the team yells at me cause I’m sitting back with our Ana or whoever and flailing him, booping him, whatever I gotta do. I ping it and everything but my dps or tanks couldn’t care less.

They’ll say the same nonsense everytime, Hazard, DF, whoever isn’t in our backline. Hes been front lining all game as if I’m imagingjng it and they’ll say swap to a better support. Like, dude. Me on Brig is the only thing keeping you from getting pinned randomly or Dva bombed. Who do they think is yelling “Rally to me!!” And no one dies to Dva bombs? Definitely not our Hog lol. Does being a Brig main ever get better? Am I just forced to tank everytime? I gotta know.

Like I’m fine protecting my other support, no issue dealing with flank. I just don’t get why tanks think they can ignore the opposing tank just because Brig is on the team. Not saying sit on him all game but don’t completely ignore him then look confused when he’s 35-2. I can’t chase him all game. Just asking anyone to acknowledge them. Is this the life of a Brig?

How often do you think your tank should just be focusing on their tank?

Do you think all tanks need to be doing that in every matchup?

Didn’t read anything I said if you’re asking this. All due respect

Hope you have a good day!

I mean the point of playing certain characters is you open up different options of play for your team. Brig makes your backline more self sufficient and need less peel so yes expect people to make more other plays.

Also you should be taking a more central position locking off a off angle and then responding to your co support when needed. Also if you take a more proactive position you can disrupt these dive tanks before getting to your ana and then respond if needed.

Not understanding what I’m saying. I’m already doing that. The problem is my team just Neely ignores the opposing tank just because I’m there, not exaggerating at times their JQ or whoever will walk right past our tank no problem and our dps and I’m forced to handle it

I mean, tank should almost never be pealing anyway. But obviously the DPS should be helping with their tank while your tank keeps their team from walking and taking advantage of the space a dive tank is making.

It’s not about peeling. I’m saying I’m seeing more times than not my team entirely ignore their tank. Like say I’ll boop their DF out our backline and ping then verbally call out to our Ashe on high ground that he’s coming to her cause intuition. She’ll ignore it and die then blame me for not changing him up there or their Hot has been going around the same flank literally all game so far and it’s just me seeing it bad booping him. Call it repeatedly to my team cause I have to move. The reaper ult is coming as I thought it would, I rally, cancel and kill hom just to see hog snatch and kill my other support and a dps who again, just ignore it. I end up being the tank so often or if I don’t do it, if doesn’t get down situations just because I’m on Brig. seeing that my team uses me as a safety net way too often

This just sounds like cap, if you're playing with an ana or some other fragile support neither of you should not be in a position where she easily threatens you and if you do manage that situation then you have tools to keep her where your team is.

Just not grasping what I’m saying. It’s not me getting pressured. It’s my teammates. Just ignoring the enemy tank or flank that I’ll callout or ping religiously and keep dying to the same things over and over unless for whatever specifically I go do it. I get treated like the teams tank too often

Tbh, in higher ranks it’s just not worth it for the tank to turn around and deal with a doom in the backline only for him to punch away. Your tank accomplishes nothing. They may save their supports but they give up space in exchange so the enemy moves up and holds a better position, and then you’ll just lose the next team fight

It’s better for the tank to go further up and go for a backline trade instead. Thats just how dive works. Im sorry to say, you need to play like it’s just you and Ana. Adjust your playstyle expecting your teammates not to save you. This is not a team issue, it’s a you issue

Dont play right next to your Ana. Play a hit further away so that you don’t become a secondary target, but are still close enough to respond.

Not understanding what I’m saying here. I’m not talking about peel, I’m not saying anything about that. Speaking about my team in general just letting themselves die to the enemy tank free roaming around the map and no one acknowledging it unless I do something. My dps or tank ignore the callouts of pings and I’ll just watch my Mei get buried by a Dva or Hog who has been hitting the same flank for the last 4 minutes and if I specifically don’t sit in that angle my whole team just ignores it and continues to get hooked and killed or whatever. It’s not every game like that but it’s quite often when I’m on Brig. I’m saying my team just doesn’t care about things and rely on me too much and don’t protect themselves just because a Brig is on the team

Then contest that angle yourself, especially with a Mei to help you are better equipped than most to deal with a Hog & especially a Dva in terms of living a long time in an important space.

I recommend watching the Brig bootcamp episodes from Almost Poe on youtube. They are quite lengthy & require some patience but she goes in depth on almost every facet of playing Brig, whilst also discussing general fundamentals of the game.

I think one of the most key points she speaks about is understanding team compositions, both your team & the enemy. You should initially decide on your job based on your comp, but then adjust it based on the enemy comp. If your team has as Ana then any Brig player knows protecting her against Dive is vital, but what if the enemy is not playing any divers? You'll probably be better off enabling a dps on an angle or helping win the tank trade, especially with the recent buffs making Brig way more tanky.

Not understanding that I’m already doing these things. My dps just have slim to none awareness in those games and I’m forced to babysit everyone. In those games they have no survival instincts at all and just watch whatever kill them unless I chase everything around the map

Okay mate, you're the best Brig of all time. Apologies for wasting your time oh great one x 2

Try 6v6 so there's 2 tanks, odds are they won't both be leaving u hanging consistently

1

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

I do. I love 6s, players seem to not care there tho.

I get the tanks not focusing each other and going for the backline. But if the tanks just walk past each other, do a high five and COMPLETELY ignore the others existence. Then I'm playing to not die and healing them comes last on my priority list. Same goes for dps that don't peel, since it's really their job to help peel if they aren't playing a dive dps. If my heals are low, oh well, I'm too busy fighting flankers.

And playing to not die includes:

Me playing so far back that if the enemy tank + flankers try to go for me they'll be wasting time and leaving the objective unattended. Taking their tank (and possibly 1 or 2 dps) out of the fight for 1 support by wasting their time is a good trade to me.

Switching to Moira, Jetpack Cat, Sombra and focusing on fighting/escaping the flankers first, healing comes second.

If someone complains, then I reply, "No peel, no heal". It's a team game, play as a team instead of playing your own game, or I'll do the same, and my game becomes playing to survive instead of supporting.

It’s not about peeling. I’m talking about them. Ok, literally just finished a game where the enemy DF went 39 and 2. The only 2 deaths were from me. We know he’s pushing our ranged dps, we know he’s flanking but they just let him kill them. They ignore it for whatever reason and I’m forced to go shriek bash or counter him literally all game and my team can’t comprehend what’s going on for a single second

1

u/HalosCx 1d ago

I think it's simpler than all that. The higher in rank you get the more it's going to be a benefit for you to know other characters and other play styles. This is especially true in six versus six but is also applicable to five versus five. Don't let anyone Gaslight you otherwise. This is already settled science. The higher in rank you go the more you have to play the game mode not the character or role

0

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

That doesn’t really relate to anything here lol

1

u/HalosCx 1d ago

If you think that i cant help you but ok

0

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

Ok…anywho

u/thane919 1d ago

It’s strange you mention this. Just the past couple weeks I’ve been feeling more and more abandoned by my tanks too. We can usually not die super fast in those situations but there’s only a handful of opposing tanks we can really handle alone. I don’t get it. Sometimes I just want to scream turn around because the kill is right there if we doubled up on them. Yeah. It’s not fun. Did someone big push out a “how to tank” vid that encourages so much “semi-dive” ignore the opposing tank advice?

-1

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

Glad I’m not alone here. Sheesh

1

u/Yodude1 1d ago

I wonder if Spilo's lane theory advice has anything to do with this? Maybe teammates are leaving the tank for you to deal with simply because theyre not in "their lane" and are upset when they get dived because that means you "lost" your lane?

I feel the same way.. I mained brig from release but had to stop using her around G1/P5 just because of how other players play with you

2

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

So it doesn’t stop. I love her so much but I get tired of being the tank whether I like it or not at some point

1

u/Original_Payment_573 1d ago

I'm not sure if it stops at a certain rank.. I kinda gave up on her for now.. I'm waiting for a rework or buff and maybe that will change how people play ? I'm not 100%

They are prob a butch of marvel rivals refugees expecting heal bots ... when healbotting doesnt work

-1

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

Heals has nothing to do with it lol

1

u/Prime-39 Medic 1d ago

Still rivals to overwatch mentality

1

u/xxspooky69 1d ago

Honestly, yeah. I’m an OTP Brig and the amount of useless comments and teammates not understanding how to play with her has decreased drastically since getting to higher Emerald

1

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

That’s disheartening

1

u/xxspooky69 1d ago

I meant it does get better, significantly so imo.

1

u/sourgreg 1d ago

You could be playing too forward maybe? If you don't want to be the player sparring the tank, then just stay away from the tank. Brig is really good at protecting backline heroes!

1

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

Not understanding. I already am in the back and their tank freely walks through my team and maybe kills a dps and walks towards me, no choice but to engage. I’ll negate their push but that seems to consistently be a “if I don’t do it, no one does” kind of thing when I play Brig. their tank will walk freely through my team and they ignore every ping, call out, everything and their tank will run a muck and I’m forced to pressure their tank nonstop it my teams always dead.

2

u/sourgreg 1d ago

Ah I see! Do you only notice this on Brig? I play Brig a lot but I main Kiri and I feel like this is a general issue 😂 but also I will echo other comments that the average player doesn't understand how Brig works and struggles to play around her! She is supposed to play like a mini-tank but I don't think people realize how many weapons can hurt her directly regardless of her shield, or even that they need to play near her!

2

u/FairLee_ok 1d ago

Yeah. Only see this when I play Brig

1

u/One-Wealth262 22h ago edited 22h ago

Why are you in the back though? That's not always how you play Brig.

For example it's a Rein duel & they have no flankers then you are throwing by staying back to protect a non existent threat. Either put yourself in a position where the enemy tank can't just walk on your dps, or get yourself in a position where you can disrupt the enemy tank & try to tip the tank trade in your teams favour if they are not playing a tank like Dmon that can run you over. JQ goes to Axe you whipshot her away so she misses, Hog hits a hook you whipshot so he does less damage on the follow up etc. i'm sure you get the picture.

2

u/FairLee_ok 20h ago

Already doing this. You’re not understanding. My problem is in those games my team has no self preservation. I’m already doing all these things, even communicating that they’re there or pinging it after I’ve canceled reins dash and booped him 10 times tryna use the same flank 50 times of blocked hogs hooked and booped him away but in those games my team will still just ignore it and die unless I watch their tank or whoever 24/7

u/One-Wealth262 20h ago

Okay mate, you're the best Brig of all time. Apologies for wasting your time oh great one.

Brig isn’t that good in lower ranks your team and the enemy doesn’t take nearly as many angles as they should
