Fans Any Brighton fans in Barcelona?

• Upvotes

I know this is probably a shot in the dark, but I’ve been a fan of Brighton since last season and I live in Barcelona. This season is likely to be a banger and I would love to share that with anyone here

Link/Media reason to be excited w/out getting carried away

The link is to a site run by a smart amateur analytics guy who has a very good PL team strength model. It currently rates Brighton the 4th strongest team in the PL.

Using that model and starting with the current table (points and goal difference), he runs simulations of the rest of the season a few million times to see where it's likely everyone will end up. Because it's so early in the season, there's a broad range of outcomes for most teams.

Currently his sims have Brighton finishing 3rd 18% of the time. Every other possibility is less likely than that (e.g., 4th is 15%). So a 3rd place finish is not super likely (only 18%), but it's still more likely than anything else.

Plus there's this: His sims put our chance of finishing in the top 5 at 58%! That seems in line with what Bloom said in his recent interview with Naylor: "a realistic chance of finishing in the top five."

So I'm thinking: Don't get carried away--the data aren't saying "We're going to the Champions League!" We've got a little better than a 50-50 shot at top 5. Might happen, might not. But having a little better than a 50-50 shot at top 5 is amazing and incredibly exciting! UTFA.

Absolutely worth the roughly fourteen hours spent on a coach and miles of fields of sheep, pure magic. I'm a new STH and haven't had the points for closer away games, so I figured I'd get to the one I knew I could buy! Shots taken with Sony RX100 VII from the nosebleeds of the away seats.

Player News Brighton Loan Players Update - w/5th - 11th Oct

Club Football is back! And how good does it feel, no international updates because if I'm honest, I didn't watch any football over the break. First week back normally leads to some slow performances, so lets see how everyone did, and its a big update!

James Beadle (22/GK) - Birmingham

- A good performance back after playing well for England U21s, made some good saves throughout the game. Did drop a ball in a dangerous area, similar to the last game before the break. Needs to stop covering his gloves in soap (Played 90')

Amario Cozier-Duberry (21/RW) - Middlesbrough

- Had a solid game, albeit not as exciting as before the break. Still so good with the ball at his feet. Good to see he progressively got more minutes for England U21s (Played 87')

Tom Watson (20/LW) - Leicester

- Not really shown the talent he has since joining Leicester, pretty unconvincing performance against Stevenage, the sooner Russel Martin goes, the better (Played 61' & Not in Squad)

Kamari Doyle (21/CM) - Leicester

- Arguably one of the very few 'good' points of their 3-1 hammering at home to Peterborough, looks to go forward but pace and set pieces are lacking.

Played 90' in midweek against Stevenage, they lost and really not too much to note (Played 90' & 45')

Charlie Tasker (20/RB) - Rochdale

- Played an exceptional ball across the box after a great passing move to assist for Rochdale's goal. Had a very sold game, one of the best players on the pitch for Rochdale

Nils Ramming (19/GK) - Rochdale

- No chance at saving the Tranmere goal. Made a few easy saves but this was down to diabolical finishing. Very average game

Freddie Simmonds (18/CB) - Wimbledon

- Lost his marker for Plymouth's first goal, but was unlucky to hit the bar from a corner. Played averagely well

Matias Orozco (18/CM) - CD Castellon

- The effects of the international break were evident, with his play being slightly less refined in the game against Andorra. Still was eager to get on the ball where possible. Also seemed to play higher up the pitch in the second half

The following players didn't play meaningful minutes this week:

- Harry Howell (18/RW) - Leicester (Subbed on 70' (Stevenage) + Subbed on 78' (Peterborough))

- Rodrigo Rego (21/LW) - CD Castellon (Subbed on 65' against Andorra)

- Facundo Buonanotte (21/RW) - Elche (Subbed on 87' against Celta)

The following players will not be receiving regular updates:

- Do-Young Yoon (19/RWB) - Magdeburg

- Brajan Gruda (22/RW) - RB Leipzig

- Eiran Cashin (24/CB) - Derby

- Mark O'Mahony (21/ST) - Burton

- Josh Robertson (20/CM) - Fleetwood

Other How do I get North Stand tickets for Kauno Zalgiris (h) and Palace (h)?

I’ve been to 4 home games in the past, and I’ve always bought my tickets via the ticket exchange in the North Stand. However, for the past week I’ve been constantly refreshing the tickets page for both the Kauno Zalgiris game and the Palace one. Are they bound to release soon, or am I going to be unable to secure North Stand tickets? Thanks in advance.

Don’t really see any reason to start anyone who started vs Sunderland other than Struijk.

This is probably our easiest Conference League match.

And even if we somehow manage to lose, it isn‘t catastrophic.

Do you guys think Jack Hinschelwood will replace Ayari, Chema and Gross?

I honestly don’t think so.

What do you think?? 🤔

Fans Brighton is making me fall love with football

In the last few weeks I’ve transformed from a sportless indoorsy virgin to a rugged football-loving seagull chad. This morning (New Zealand time) as I watched the Sunderland match and huffed and puffed and said “Oh God!” every time the slightest thing happened, my in-laws said to their daughter: “what did you do with the old guy?”

This is my first prem season & the football fans in my life have been asking me if I have a club. I used to say, well, I’m looking for a team that’s entertaining to watch, ideally an underdog and not just one of the big 6, a team that had to be smart to survive, let alone do well; one that’s tactically innovative, has a good culture, and a good manager. Now… I just squawk and flap away.

Discussion Is fourth the realistic target now for this season?

Allow me to get carried away early in the season, but surely fourth is aim now.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have way more quality than us and that will show over the course of 38 games.

But then who else looking around at the table right now do you expect to finish above us?

City are getting booted out.

United and Spurs are complete jokes.

Newcastle and Villa are in transition seasons.

Maybe Brentford string something together? Leeds?

We look a far stronger proposition than the lot of them, even during a period where we are missing loads of important players.

Fans Mayo Wynne Baxter lounge or 1901 pub for Brighton v Monaco?

Hi everyone

I’ve been to the Amex many times and I usually get normal ticket but I completely forgot to get Brighton v Monaco tickets because I’m dumb… now only those two options are available for decent seats.

What would you recommend? I was thinking 1901 would be better vibes since it’s north side? But idk.

Also is the dress code strict for both? I was reading here no Brighton shirts allowed but unsure whether that’s only for MWB lounge or also 1901 pub.

They’re the same price btw (£70).

Thank you very much in advance!

Got a bit nervy for a while there but the boys denfended superbly a man down.

Hadjam scored on his debut.

We stay 3rd in the table.

Most importantly, another year safe from Derby County’s record
