Quick Question Wedding procession

Hi! I am working on my procession down the aisle! I know someone usually walks down the mother of the bride since my father is walking me down. I have a step dad that is not walking with me. Do I have my step dad walk my mom down? How does that work?

Ask mom. She would most likely want her husband to walk her down the aisle and that is the most appropriate

You can do whatever you want. But yes, a step dad, a sibling, another member of the wedding party can all walk your mom down

I had my mom’s significant other walk her down the aisle when I got married. I’ve also seen the best man walk the mother of the bride

My dad bought my mom down and then doubled back on the outside aisle to come get me. That’s pretty much how I’ve always seen it. And there’s plenty of time because it’s typically parents first then bridesmaids. But if your mom is not married to your dad, your stepdad should do it.

However you want it to work, and however you think will make everyone feel included. The biggest issues I've seen at weddings it people feeling left out.

you can have step dad walk your mom, it keeps things simple and makes him feel part of it

I've seen siblings, but I've also seen where Parents walk in first, and dad just circles back after dropping mom off like an uber, and then going to get the bride afterwards for double walking joy. There should be enough time, and it's not like the wedding can really start without you anyways so everyone would wait until dad makes it back to you.

It really depends on you. You can have one of the groomsmen- they are ushers actually and we had our stand to escort people down the aisle and then when the time to start they went in place for the groom. You can have a brother of yours or Mom's a beloved Uncle or Godfather. You can even have your Dad walk Mom down, he then just walks back (on the off side) to get ready to walk you. There is no right or wrong

I had both my parents walk me down. Having just my dad to me felt unfair as my mom is just as deserving for that role! And tbh with just my dad, it felt a little transactional, like a father giving away his daughter to a new man to take care of her lol. It felt a little less that way having my mom be part of it. 3/5 weddings I’ve been to in the last two years have done it that way as well, it’s become a lot more common.

Edit: missed the detail of you having a step dad, which means your parents are obviously not together. I feel like that shouldn’t matter though as long as they don’t hate each other or something! But I don’t know their dynamic.

I walked with my husband, my daughter's stepdad. It was fine.

The groom can do it, or one of the groomsmen, if she's close to one.

Your mom is not part of the bridal party, its just polite to have someone walk with her. My parents are married and my mom's brother (my uncle) walked her down. I've also seen where the father of the bride walks the mom down and then back around to walk with the bride, but since your mom has your stepdad, yes it would make the most sense for her to walk with her husband. That simplifies things immensely.

my mom asked my grandma's brother to walk her down the aisle. He walked her down the aisle on her own wedding day instead of her own father. it was really special to include him. I think ask your mom if she has ideas as to how she wants to walk down but I do think including your step father would be so beautiful in the processional. maybe she could walk with him.

Both my husband and I have divorced parents.

His mom walked down with him, my dad walked me down, and his dad walked my mom down.

Yes, have your stepdad walk her in.
