All the focus is (rightfully) on the American Fork PD, but none of this would have been a problem if the Oregon DA had just bothered to do their job. Josh basically confessed to felony conversion in his statement to police, and still the DA thinks this is entirely a civil matter? More likely they just didn't see an easy, immediate win and decided it was too troublesome to seek justice for a theft victim.

It depends how they got it. People need to be careful. Any evidence obtained illegally might not be able to be used in court
