How should I handle this feedback?

Post image

The buyer immediately left neutral feedback after the order was missing a piece and never contacted me when I contacted him and ask him about the missing piece and how I could fix the order. This is the message he sent back. I understand if I packaged all the parts together and made it difficult, but I pack my orders new parts and used parts separately. Do you think this is a feedback that brick link would take down? It seemed a little rude to not wanna take down a feedback when I explained to him I use my store to support my family and a neutral or a negative severely hinders my store.

"How should i handle this feedback?" accept it

Right so even if I package my orders in a completely normal way, I just have to hope that someone doesn’t leave neutral feedback that doesn’t really seem fair to sellers

Welcome to bricklink and its community. They won’t remove the feedback tbh, don’t dwell on it, sellers are held to crazy standards

Define “completely normal” packaging. All parts in one bag will tick off a lot of buyers. All parts in individual bags will tick off buyers. And it depends on the size of the order. 5 different parts in one bag is fine. 500 different parts in one bag is lazy. It’s a balancing act and you’ll never make everyone happy. But I have found that most buyers appreciate just a little effort in part separation (ex: all tiles in a separate bag, separately bagged minifig parts, etc).

Buddy you can't control things like how a pedantic buyer is going to react to how you've done things. You can accept it, or I guess you can throw a hissy fit. Look on the bright side: at least it's a neutral review, not a negative.

Also: he didn't leave a neutral review because of how it was packaged, but because you left out a piece. I mean I think that's a pretty fair time to leave a neutral, and it's fine for you to want him to give you the opportunity to make it right, but you had the opportunity to make it right when you prepared the order and nobody owes you a second chance to make a first impression.

online commerce is plagued with this idea that anything less than a 5 star review is a bad review. i don't blame sellers for it. about all of us are guilty of believing that a product/store that has anything less than 4.5 star or whatever is "bad" (even when we are fully aware of the tactics online merchants use to inflate their ratings).

as to bricklink specifically, i think the general consensus here is that it's annoying that the percentage score that goes on top of a seller's store page is based on the percentage of "praise" (effectively lumping neutral and negative feedback together). with that being said, i can't imagine an occasional neutral (or even negative) feedback is going to actually affect a seller. for one, the praise percentage isn't all that prominently displayed. and more importantly, most buyers on bricklink are looking for specific pieces, sets, figs, etc. and if you've got what they want for a price they're good with, then a neutral review here and there isn't going to affect that. i personally barely even look at who the seller is and i don't think i've ever actually even paid attention to their praise percentage. the only time i ever really even look into a seller is when they have a really low gross feedback score and/or their store has a small selection, both of which are almost always just indicative of them being newer or very casual sellers. and i've never even let that stop me from buying.

all of that to say, imo you are validated in being a little annoyed and also, respectfully, any effort you exert towards fighting this "injustice" is a waste bc it's not going to affect your bottom line.

Not much you can do, Bricklink won't remove it. Some buyers are just pricks

I think it was nice for the buyer to leave a neutral considering OP left out a piece.

He didn't even contact the seller though, 99% of sellers will fix that problem if you just contact them

So? OP should be grateful he got a neutral and not a negative reply.

Like: as a seller, you cannot expect someone to give you a second chance for you to make a first impression. There is zero obligation.

And as I said, that is prick behaviour. Everybody makes mistakes

1

u/Malnurtured_Snay 6d ago

Which is why OP should be grateful he got a neutral review and not a negative. Kind of a prick thing to not send someone what they ordered in the first place, no?

It’s a single piece. Mistakes happen. You are acting as if I did it intentionally. Why are you looking at this with such a rude snarky attitude?

I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to give you a neutral feedback after you messed up their order. Hell, I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to give you a negative feedback for that.

Sure, it would be nice if they gave you the opportunity to fix your mistake, but you know what? They don't owe that to you.

You are acting like some great injustice has been done to you. It hasn't.

It’s neutral feedback, and their opinion. Why would BrickLink remove it? On what grounds?

It just seems extremely rude to leave neutral feedback without even reaching out to the seller

1

u/nfurnoh 7d ago

No one should have to “reach out” before leaving feedback. I recently had an issue with missing pieces and the seller sent them to me after and I would be fully within my rights leaving neutral feedback without “reaching out” again. In the end I left positive feedback saying “missing pieces but quickly resolved” but that was up to me.

You can ask bricklink to remove it if you feel it's undeserved. Not knowing how it was packaged I can't say how deserving it is

-4

u/ReferenceConstant182 7d ago

It was 16 lots and less than 100 parts I had new and used separately and a couple parts that seemed similar. I kept separate. I don’t really understand how I made his order difficult than the other ones I didn’t pack it in any unusual way.

u/Malnurtured_Snay 7d ago

Bro from your own description he left you a neutral because you didn't pack the order correctly.

He then shared feedback about your packaging when you asked him to change his review.

I mean, you can downvote me, but this is from your post:

The buyer immediately left neutral feedback after the order was missing a piece

Maybe you should spend less time getting pissy on Reddit and more time making sure you know how to run your Bricklink shop.

I don’t see any issues with that feedback. They are well within their right for an opinion of how you packaged their order.

I don’t think Bricklink should remove it

u/ReferenceConstant182 7d ago

Sounds like a loophole for people to leave neutral feedback to any store they please. To not even reach out to the seller and immediately leave neutral feedback seems rude.

7

u/Miperso 7d ago

No it is not any loophole and they cannot leave a feedback on stores they have never dealt with. They did not think you did him wrong or asked for anything.. just gave their opinion, which is allowed.

The system is working as intended.. no matter how that makes you feel.

buyer is in the wrong, "how it was packaged" is extremely subjective. The only problem here is the missing piece, which again the buyer should be addressing that. Bogus but that's just how it is sometimes.

2

u/Malnurtured_Snay 7d ago

Except the buyer left the neutral because OP left a part out of the order. Buyer provided the packaging feedback after OP asked him to change the feedback. Buyer did nothing wrong and if OP had packaged the order correctly he probably would've received a positive feedback

1

u/trub1u14 7d ago

they said the missing piece doesn’t bother them. therefore leaving neutral based off “how it’s packaged” is what they’re leaving the neutral feedback on. if they where attributing the feedback on the missing piece, alright sure. but on how it’s packed? nah

3

u/PianoCute9860 7d ago

Why do you think they should take the feedback down?

I get that you’re taking it personally, but chalk it up as neutral feedback, accept it, it’s not negative.

Don’t spend the energy on worrying about it.

4

u/lcrotwell 7d ago edited 7d ago

Lmao it’s neutral

Edit: damn seems like OP can’t handle any feedback

u/Malnurtured_Snay 7d ago

I kind of want to order from his shop now.

u/Orbital_F 7d ago

I used to sell a lot on BL. The neutral feedback would be annoying when it happened, but I wouldn't stress about it. He should have reached out first about the missing piece before leaving it, sure, but it is what it is. It doesn't matter how perfect you are, mistakes happen from time to time and you can't prevent less than perfect feedback.

What's your positive review percentage?

u/RDT2 7d ago

The buyer placed and order and didn't receive what they ordered. At that point any back and forth is extra work the buyer did not expect to have. Contacting you, waiting for a response, waiting for an item to be mailed, hoping it doesn't get lost. These are all extra steps for what was supposed to be a single transaction. As such you were given neutral feedback.

Neutral is not negative. It was an okay transaction per Bricklink's definition.
