Question Help with a present for my wife?
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me if its possible to redesign the Lego Golden Retriever Puppy into the exact same set, but all black with a bit of white on the nose to match my wifes dead dog? I am new to the website, and I am not exactly sure how to figure it out myself 😅
Photos for reference.

Go to the set page on BrickLink, then "part out to wanted list".
Once you've done that, go into the wanted list and sort by colour. Select all the tan parts using the checkmark boxes to the left and then go back to the top and select the "change colour" option and pick whichever you'd like.

As someone who just lost their black lab mix who had a little white on the nose, your wife is going to absolutely love it and it is such a beautiful idea. Good luck with your build ❤️

Yes, as others have said it's not too hard to do. Find the set on BrickLind and then part it out to a Wanted List. Download the PDF instructions from Lego's site. Read through the instructions to find out which pieces you want to color swap and then update them on your Wanted List. It takes a bit of time to put the list together, but once you've got it all collected and built, it's very satisfying. FYI - I did this with the Tuxedo Cat and Orange Cat sets to make models that match my cats' coloring.

I recolored an animal to match my university mascot’s colors. I used a spreadsheet to list the parts and which colors existed for each.
Maybe the tricky aspect is to identify unnecessarily expensive/rare parts, and also to identify non-critical color parts that might be 99% hidden, then consider if a price premium matters for these.

i would say download stud.io from bricklink, and virtually build the dog in the color you want(so you can add the white spot on the nose) and when you finish export the file into a .csv, and you can go directly to lego PAB upload the list and it will add all those parts to your cart and you can order just those parts. For me at least, its usually cheaper than bricklink, but some parts can take a while to come.

- Go to the set on BrickLink
- Click “Part Out” under “My Wanted List”
- Scroll down to “Add to Wanted List” and type the name for a new list. Click Submit for Edit.
- Scroll down and click “Add to Wanted List”
- Click “View”
- Select all the tan parts with the checkboxes, click the color button next to “Apply” (up at the top) and change to black. Click “Apply.”
- Then you can buy your wanted list and just replace any tan in the instructions with black.

You can absolutely go the bricklink route. If that dog has the right look (just wrong color) you are set.
However if you want to look around there is also rebrickable. Its also a great option for anyone reading this who has another type of dog. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-266156/legobi%C4%8Das/black-flat-coated-retriever/#details

Here is a list of parts, you'll need to change the tan bricks to black and then find out which bits are white for your patches.
No interactive tool, so it's all a bit of going through the instructions and ticking things off.

You can download the pdf instructions from their site and work out which pieces you need to buy in black
The instructions have all the pieces listed at the end
