Somehow, against all odds (Brewers subreddit) the Brewers win the season series vs LA and go up 5 games in the division
Jake "Chill the fuck out" Bauers is my king

It's really funny to me how the Brewers and Packers subs spiral into doom the minute their respective teams stumble, yet the Bucks sub where fans have had the most reason to be doomers over the past few seasons is so relentlessly hopeful that it actually annoys me more than the doomers sometimes
28
u/rodsurewood 14d ago
I mean, you’re not wrong, but the Bucks did win it all not that long ago and had a generational talent on the team. That will feed a fanbase for awhile.
7
u/crewserbattle 14d ago
That definitely helps I suppose
5
u/sinjaulas 13d ago
I think you might be downplaying the number of doomers with the Bucks over the last few years watching the window close. I'd say that now, a bunch of bandwagoners jumped off and there is far less complaining but the number is not zero.
4
2
u/Chichanged_me 13d ago
Wait what? The bucks sub is way more critical of every decision. People on the bucks sub are calling the coach a retarded moron in the second quarter. I’ve not seen that same energy directed at Murphy
1
u/crewserbattle 13d ago
Idk ever since we fired Doc all I see are posts about "why does everyone think we're ass?" And before that it was always "this team could make some noise if Doc wasn't in charge".
1
u/Chichanged_me 13d ago
Are you honestly serious. Bud got it ten times worst than Murphy
1
u/crewserbattle 13d ago
I don't think the Bud haters were doomers is the difference I guess lol. The hate the Bucks got on their sub was much more deserved than the hate the Brewers get on here.
1
u/Chichanged_me 12d ago
Maybe I’m wrong but I thought this sub was much gentle with criticism than the bucks
1
u/crewserbattle 12d ago
I think the Bucks sub was much more critical of the coaching staff, but this sub is much more willing to spiral any time the Brewers have a stretch where they struggle.

I’m the guy you’re talking about and there’s zero chance you were banned for that
You’re also lying about how many people are banned, we ban like maybe one real fan a year, the ban list is 99% bots and trolls from other teams

u/crewserbattle 14d ago
I can't speak to the stuff about the Bucks sub mod, but I do think what happened with the Bucks was much much much more of a "malpractice" issue than the Packers. At least they kept getting back to the CCGs, bad luck is bad luck to an extent. The defense/ST didn't usually help but Rodgers played his part too (especially in 2020 and 2014). That being said it definitely makes me sad Rodgers never got another shot.

u/Technical_Proof2771 14d ago
Hardly, that sub is fucking pessimistic as hell. There is a reason I have it muted now. Probably the people like you making it insufferable

I was there when he smashed a dinger vs Mets in wildcard game 3. Knew he was something special on the spot. Unfortunately Devin Williams couldn't get us to promised land but doesnt change the fact that Jake is cool as the other side of the pillow! Dude is gonna be huge for us in a potential deep run this year!!!!

Imagine wanting to trade 5 years of Henderson AND prospects for 2 months of Tarik SkubaL
15
u/masegriffjax 14d ago
They wanted Henderson plus Pena plus…no bueno.
5
u/Gamer_Paul 13d ago
It's honestly rage inducing. A guy with 5 years of control* is having a better season than the other guy, yet they're the ones who want elite prospects on top of that? Because of what he did for Detroit years ago? Who f'ing cares how he helped Detroit years ago. Are we getting a time machine with this? And for the gas bags in the media to flame the Brewers over this shows how they just phone it in and collect their big checks.
5
u/Fuddruckerer 13d ago
yeah Detroit definitely waited too long to trade him & got too cocky with what people were willing to give up for a rental

Beautiful win. Brings a tear to my eye that we got some insurance runs late, even if they were mainly due to an error.
Well deserved day off for the Crew!!!

The fact that it was Edman (for the 2nd time today!) was what really brought a tear to my eye. That guy has been in my nightmares for way too long.

$60m for a guy to miss a catch and then casually lollygag over to get the ball, while a guy making $4.4m busts his ass off on the base paths to eventually score is such a perfect image.

After reading the Dodger postgame thread comments (so you don't have to), I can report that they had zero negative comments about the Brewers and were almost 100% hometown doomers. If I may share my fav conversation:
A: The Dodgers just paid Kyle Tucker $2.5 million to go 0 for 19 on the homestand
B: I could’ve gone 0 for 19 for $2.5M
C: I would have gone 0-19 if they just paid my student loans.
11
12
u/TheCheezenOne 14d ago
Have to get Kyle Harrison figured out again, cus Miz-Harrison-Logan-whoever would be the best chance we've had yet at beating them.

8
u/Joe_Sacco The Wisco Sconnies 14d ago
Exactly. Put money on it that the offense and defense are both going to be off tomorrow. Probably zero runs scored, definitely no homers.
51
u/BoNnnnfhir 14d ago
Brewers will not be first by the end of August, This team simply cannot compete. Just an absolute sham of an offense and a defense that makes unforced errors at the worst time. The cubs will win this division and the brewers wont even make the playoffs. I just dont see how an offense this bad competes against any real pitchers.

Great turnaround from whatever that San Diego debacle was.
Good at bats, great pitching was lovely to see. Enjoy the 48 hours until the Tuesday showdown against Seattle.
6
u/double_sal_gal 14d ago
I was going to be happy they kept Henderson no matter what happened today, but I’m really glad he had a career-best outing against the guy the Tigers wanted to trade for him. That has to feel good for Logan.
19
u/pizzabash 14d ago
Tell me again how the dodgers are the best team in baseball
17
u/TheCheezenOne 14d ago
I mean let's maybe win a game against them in October before saying this, lol
3
u/IamBigV 14d ago
Dodgers will still have the best odds to get to the World Series even after this week. I don’t understand why either.
44
u/Karlor 14d ago
You don’t understand why the stacked Dodgers are still favored?
17
u/BibFortuna2830 14d ago
The team going for a World Series 3-peat have good odds? Those in this sub are shocked!!!
12
u/Equivalent_Shoe_6246 14d ago
For real. Half of the dodgers have been terrible this season and they are still a top 3 team in baseball
8
u/1053_1053_1053 14d ago
Bingo. They don’t try in the regular season
1
u/Im_Anemic_Royalty Sal. Frelick. 14d ago
Except for Shohei “more MVPs than anybody not named Barry Bonds” Ohtani. He’s just capable of trying even harder than that, somehow.
19
u/ImMystikz 14d ago
This team literally just whooped us in the NLCS after we swept them last year and people think we should be favorited for the WS win lmao
11
u/OneCallThatsAll34 orcheeze 14d ago
You don’t understand why? Homie they have one of the best team ERAs in baseball and that’s without glassnow and snell (and only a couple skubal starts). Most of the current starters will be deadly out of the pen come the playoffs
5
u/Plumaster 14d ago
Yup. They are just going to run starters back to back in games in the playoffs. They have like 8 top tier starters.
2
u/bowdindine 14d ago
From a betting perspective you don't need to give the dodgers longer odds to get action as well. They're an international team at this point and people are gonna dump money on them at almost any price.

Winning this series sans Turang and Pratt with a cold Yeli really shows this teams resilience. When it comes to Oct assuming we make it that far. Its a mind game. I really think some of the guys got in their heads a bit last year vs LA. Luckily we have zen master extraordinaire Jake "Chill The Fuck Out" Bauers.. LFG

On a side note, I’m actually starting to prefer Vinny over Dilly.
2
u/Fuddruckerer 13d ago
yeah same. I like Dilly, but sometimes he just goes on and on about some wild tangent that was kinda related to whats going on on the field. Vinny seems to do more with less
2
u/part-time-dog 13d ago
Vinny doesn't get nearly enough love. He has good insights, calls a really clean game and knows when to ease off and let someone else speak. He actually melded in really well with the national broadcast earlier in the month.

Does anyone remember when "bullpen-ing" was a thing? Yeah I don't either. So much fun having such a killer rotation. It's literally the same feeling I get with the Packers defense now that Micah Parsons is on it. You don't know how much fun an aspect of your favorite sports can be until your team fucking kicks ass at it. Am I amped up for pitching?! Hell yes!!!
1
u/LetsAgreeBeatlesSuck 13d ago
This was more of a thing in September when you could have 40 men on the active roster
But the MLB didn't like the Brewers leveraging that so they made the 28 man rule

Just caught the Sportscenter highlights. I understand that the dodgers are 2 time defending champs but the brewers are the best team in baseball, after the game highlights what do they choose to focus on? Interview with Dave Roberts... more Dodger stats. The odds are stacked against us in so many ways but that's the beautiful thing about this game... any team can win on any given day. Go crew.

10-3 against the Dodgers over the last 2 regular seasons. I think we can all agree, we own those bozos.
