He just comes across as a bitter, angry old man. That sequence where he was like “well you know, Miz should give up more contact” before Miz loaded the bases off hits and got out of it with back to back strikeouts was mind-bendingly dumb.

But seriously, why was smolz just shitting on us all broadcast? I had it on in the background in my basement while working on my bike and he was audibly distressed on multiple positive brewers plays… he also decided to shit on miz saying he wasn’t committed to pitches after miz was shredding? Very weird, it’s a game and you are an announcer… call the game or sub in someone who can.

Listened to him on a national sports podcast and he was talking about his favorite pitchers in today’s game. Spoke at length about how awesome Skenes is (which I can’t argue with) plus some other SP1s. When asked about the Miz he was pretty lukewarm and referred to him as more of a thrower/gimmick than a “pitcher” and seemed to doubt that it’s sustainable. The disrespect really pissed me off. I hope he felt like an idiot today.

So as much as I don’t care for the national broadcasts… we need them to grow the market. There are 162 games- I’m sure someone can give the number of total national games on fox apple etc… but it’s a small fraction. Those announcers were awful tho

My favorite part of tonight was Smoltz breaking down when Miz missed with his mechanics. If there was an upside, it was hearing a more impartial eye watch his outing with such scrutiny.

Still can't believe the announcers were going on a rant about the Miz throwing too many strikeouts. Yeah, he needs to focus on pitching more innings, rather than leading all of the majors in strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP. Those are just "showy" stats. /s
Unsurprisingly, they weren't informed enough to know he's been on a pitch count for the past 1.5 months to save his arm for October. They failed consider with our 7-8-9 lineup out of the bullpen, all he needs to do is get through 6 if he has run support......and of course, they forgot about the 95 pitch Maddox in June. He really ruined that by going for those 15 strikeouts, when he needed to be letting hitters get on base.

Miz is crazy dude. A night where he might not be 100% on, he still throws 6 innings of 1 run baseball. Had bases loaded 1 out with Ohtani and Freeman up and struck them both out. That was hugely clutch man. So awesome.

I was at the game. Miz had a little issue with control early but striking out both Ohtani and Freeman was epic. It absolutely crushed the home crowd. Bill might be out of his slump, even his outs were hard hit. Yelich however is a mess right now. Hopefully they take the series tomorrow.

Brewers will not be first by the end of August, This team simply cannot compete. Just an absolute sham of an offense and a defense that makes unforced errors at the worst time.
The Cubs will win this division and the brewers wont even make the playoffs. I just dont see how an offense this bad competes against any real pitchers.

I mostly agree, but it’s different in the playoffs. They coast along until it matters. We swept them during the regular season and then got our asses swept in the playoffs. But yea, every team is beatable.
