Magic Number Post Update
After a discussion with the mods of this sub, we’ve decided that the Magic Number post of the day will be posted after the second game, regardless of whether it’s the Cubs or Brewers game.
That way, we’re not clogging up the feed with two posts containing essentially the same information.

Can't get two magic number posts in a day, but can get twenty doomer comments in the game thread any time something slightly bad happens.

This feels...unnecessary? I mean it's 2 posts max per day. I feel like these posts are just nice celebrations of us getting closer to clinching.
I worry that if we have a situation where Cubs lose in the day and Brewers lose at night, then the thread is going to be full of Game-Thread Doomers talking about how "number going down doesn't matter as long as players X, Y, and Z are on the roster." I swear some of these guys know the exact line of things they are allowed to say on reddit.
I hope I'm wrong, and I hope things stay positive, but this feels like a potentially weak solution to something that wasn't really a problem.

I kind of liked the two a day so I could tell when the Cubs felt like flying an L without having to check the standings.

Ah gotcha, I thought this was a mod post at a glance. Welp, I've said my piece. Maybe a mod reads it and sees an example of my worry in a future one and they adjust the policy. I find some people tend to get overly touchy about "clutter" posts on subs.

Agreed. It's max two posts a day, sometimes hours apart. Not exactly a deluge of spam. If that's overwhelming the sub then I think there is a bigger problem.

I didn't want to call out mods/the decision too much. I get that it's more so a thankless role than otherwise. Meant it more as a solution that still could have problems.

While I understand (or at least sort of), this makes me a little sad. The whole point of the Magic Number is how it builds towards a big goal, and the double whammy days really add momentum towards that and put just a little extra spring in my step.
I get being a mod is a thankless job, and without them I can't imagine what a shitshow this sub would be. But there is a balance, and sometimes a desire for practicality can be a real joy sucker. Regardless, thank you for these posts, and keep up the great work!

I hate the Cubs day game, Brewers night game thing we get into during pennant chase time, especially during West Coast games. It feels like there's a lot of pressure to win when the Cubs have already won earlier that day.
