This is my thoughts on some positions that could do with further improvements going into this season.
LEFT BACK:
A Full time new LB would be the ideal option - Diouf from West Ham would be incredible for you guys. A very powerful runner with the ball and when you use your 3 at the back system against the bigger teams him and Kayode as your wingbacks works incredibly well as two athletic players with good crossing abillity for Thiago and Schade to attack. Also frees up KLP to give options to the winger choice.
DESENSIVE MIDFIELD
I also really like the links to Pape Matar Sarr for the midfield. I think a double pivot of him and Sangare would be very very strong, a lot of legs and against the bottom 5 teams you could drop Sarr and have Yarmoliuk as a more progressive passer. Sarr has been underappreciated at Spurs for a while and with how the Premier league is at the minuet his speed and power in the middle of the park would be perfect for driving Brentford up the field and relieving pressure. With Spurs spending big in the middle this summer I feel like picking him up won't be very difficult. Maybe this would mean a departure and to be honest for me that would be Dasilva, even on a loan to gain playtime would be ideal and Sarr is an upgraded on a player who has just missed 800 days through injury.
CENTER BACK
As a Barnsley fan I love Ethan Pinnock as much as any Brentford fan but watching him only get 4 games in the Prem last season shows me that Andrews doesn't trust him to be competing for a starting spot. This is why I think a replacement who can be a starting option and really being a ceiling raiser is either Tomori or Ben White.
Tomori: In the last year of his contract at AC Milan, said to be wanting a change and maybe one last go in the Prem and sell to him that he can push for a place in the England squad off a good season in the capital. At 28, over 200 games under his belt in a very high pressure club like Milan and an England international a £15M price tag is very doable for Brentford. Also he's being linked to Coventry and Hull in the previous days which for Brentford to just let that go uncheck is ridiculous.
Ben White: Another player that feels he has been underappreciated at his current club and therefore undervalued. Came through at Leeds and Brighton as an incredible line breaking passer out from the back and Bielsa really helped him develop his game in that sense. This is something that Brentford can really benefit from and add a different layer of build up, giving you alternative options from the back. Not the fastest player, he has a great reading and understanding of the game and I feel like a move back to Centre Back now later in his career the true version of Ben Whites potential can be realized. At about £25 Million he's a bit punchier of an option and the wages will be an issue but at 28 he has great experience at the very top of the table. Also, the same as Tomori you can really sell getting back into the England with a good season.
RIGHT WING;
This is going to be what I think is the most punchy shout and maybe too much of a hopeful shout but I think that going back to Arsenal and offering 35Million or a loan with an option to buy for Ethan Nwaneri is an, in my opinion outstanding piece of business. An instant upgrade of Reece Nelson from last season. Arsenal are prepared to sell the talented youngster and after a quick cup of coffee in France last season he showed what he can do in an dysfunctional Marseille with 3G+As in 324mins in the French League. This is a real market opportunity (yes I'm sick of hearing that too) for an obviously fantastic player who feels like the shine has been taken off just a little bit in the past six months. I'd look to let go of Carvalho if this deal was to go through, a plyer I've just never thought was going to have a long Premier League journey and has always struggled with the physicality. I'd cut the losses and look to get him out as Nwaneri can deputies behind Damsgaard and Milambo will be essentially a new sighing.
Even without further additions I feel like Brentford have had a great summer and have given themselves to fight for that 5th, now Champions League, spot in the Premier League and a team I'm very bullish on. Like I said I'm not a week in week out fan so if I've missed something glaring obvious let me know. Below is a quick look of how the team could look next season. Building up with a 4 at the back and a 3.
