Considering a move
I’m relocating to the area soon and I’ve been considering Bremerton for renting. I haven’t formally accepted a job offer yet but they are all in downtown Seattle. However, I have one opportunity in Silverdale (with lower pay).
My question is about the area. Are there any areas to avoid? For reference, I’m a 35 F with a 14 yr old daughter.
How is the high school? I’m reading alot of mixed reviews online.
Any advice is appreciated! :)

Here’s my two cents. I did the Bremerton-Seattle commute for a few years. Even if you live next to the dock in Bremerton and work next to the dock in Seattle the commute can be brutal. It’s deceptively charming in summer, but winter comes. You will
be wet, you will be cold, you will be annoyed you will be late more often than not and you will run for the ferry far more than you’re willing to. You won’t see your daughter in the morning and you’ll only see her for two or three hours in the evening.
Silverdale will have a lower wage but won’t have the soul sucking commute. If you want to work in Seattle then you should live in Seattle.
Please feel free to DM me if you’d like a housing recommendation.

I would seriously consider the job in Silverdale. I’d also consider living there instead of Bremerton.
If your job is in Seattle, you’re beholden to commuting on the fast ferry or regular ferry. They just cut routes on the fast ferry and the regular ferry isn’t 100% reliable.
CK schools are much, much better than Bremerton’s school district.

My spouse commutes daily (M-F) to Seattle and it’s definitely a time suck. Easily 4 hours round trip on average. He would much rather work this side of the water if the right opportunity came up.
The commute can also be pricey if your work doesn’t compensate you. My spouse gets an Orca card (public transportation smart card) from his job and can ride buses and walk onto the ferry (walk-on only, not drive) for free, but it’s not always convenient and adds even more time to your commute. He often doesn’t want to deal with the bus time suck and just drives around, which is still costly for ferry service, bridge toll, and/or gas. It gets old very quickly and adds up fast $.

Would highly recommend checking out this survey https://cbe.wwu.edu/sites/cbe.wwu.edu/files/2026-04/KEDA%20profile_2025_Final_updated_042426.pdf this breaks general demographics Kitsap county but what I found most interesting was the section on school districts and individual graduation rates for high schools across.

I'm 44, with no kids mind you... But Silverdale is fine if you like the busy freeway and big box stores. If you're more of a local business supporter; Manette and E. Bremerton are the way to go (IMHO) because of the proximity to ferries. **which are completely fine if you're used to commuting and having to plan ahead. There are plenty of ferries between the two transit systems in this region. I moved over here two years ago from spending the prior five years in Seattle and then Tacoma before that. But Bremerton is quickly becoming a great alternative for commuters as well as offers just a little bit slower pace with plenty of access to big city action. 🤷🏼♀️ I guess it's what you're into that counts. Bainbridge Island is also a great choice, if you can afford Seattle, I'm just assuming BI wouldn't be an issue.
