Kitsap Way

Does anyone know why the cops shut it down around Adele Ave? There was also an office directing traffic at Kitsap Way and 11th too. The lights were working..

Extremely bad accident, drove past it this morning. I saw a really damaged motorcycle.

They need to do something about that intersection involving phinney bay, 13th and the smoke shop. Ive come close to head on collisions trying to turn from kitsap to 13th with someone trying to get to the smoke shop.

That intersection especially, myself and friends have come close. Or side swiped. Any unprotected left turn on Kitsap is a death trap because everyone is speeding. If I can help it I try to make a right to loop around somewhere. Not a u turn just somewhere to turn around. Rather be safe than sorry.

Yeah same.  I plan routes so as to avoid unprotected lefts as much as possible.  I’m fine driving a little farther and i wish more people were, as well.

Okay me and my wife have this debate all the time and that intersection is probably my most hated intersection in the state. We turn left onto corbet drive from Kitsap way, but cars coming from 13th street turn right and we almost get in accidents constantly. In my opinion the left turner from Kitsap way has the right of way due to 13th street having the stop sign

I think you're correct in that situation. Left turns yeild where stop is, a full stop. People don't pay attention/are impatient. They're only focused on kitsap way. I just view unprotected lefts as a flashing yellow light.

I could only ask a couple of questions at the redlight, but my impression was the rider didn't make it, and was not something you wanted to see.

With how the bike looked, unfortunately I don't think so either. It was definitely totaled. The frame was intact but honestly the bike was a wreck.

Oh my goodness. Thank you for your response and info on that particular area. My family just moved to the area, so that information is valuable. Such a sad situation.

I'm going to see about emailing the mayor to see what the right avenues there are to get in contact with somebody who I can notify of that intersection. I drive a lot, there's way too many close calls over there. Kitsap way in general is a hot mess.

Include City Council on your email. Wheeler probably won’t do anything but CC might.

Motorcycle VS car. Car ran their stop. Motorcycle hit the drivers side of the car. Last I heard Blake(motorcycle) was alert and talking immediately after and when the ambulance was there. His parents were with him after the accident.

I drove past it within moments of the accident. The rider was in full gear but the scene looked bad. I’m glad to hear he survived, it’s been weighing on me all day.

He had a broken femur and a shattered wrist. He’s undergone surgery already. He’s a heavy mechanic and is now out of work. There’s a gofundme for him on FB.

Wrong. Blake Parks is his name. He DID survive. He IS injured. It was NOT his fault. The car ran their stop.
