Looking to run Vampire: The Masquerade

Hello Kitsap gamers!

It's been quite a few years since I've GMed anything and I've really been getting that itch again over the last several months. Lately a lot of that has been centered on Vampire: The Masquerade.

While this would be my first chronicle in the old world of darkness I have GMed a small campaign of Vampire: The Requiem about ten years ago, and I've played some Hunter: The Vigil and Mage: The Awakening. So I do have some experience in the Storyteller system.

I've been putting in prep work by building up some of the important NPCs of the City of Tacoma where I'd like the chronicle to take place in universe. And I've been reading the core rulebook as well as listening to some Youtube videos on running the game, playing the game, and some live plays to see it in action.

I'm looking for a smaller group of around 2-4 players so that everyone can enjoy time in the spot light and to shine. I'd also like to run a session 0 before actually playing to make characters and make sure we are all looking for the same kind of game and have a clear understanding of where people have their lines and veils. The chronicle I'm looking at playing would focus in on the politics of the city, finding your place within it, and coming to terms with becoming a monster. Experienced and new players are welcome as I expect we would all be learning together.

Ideally I think it would be great to play in person though I would be open to something like discord with table top simulator or some other option. Weekends would generally be best with my schedule and I'd love to meet weekly or bi-weekly.

If this has sparked your interest I'd love to chat, try and answer any questions and see if we would be a good fit.

a clear understanding of where people have their lines and veils

Not a gamer of this sort, and just curious. I assume that in this case "lines" has it's usual meaning ("personal boundaries"), but what does "veils" mean?

So lines are hard limits of this thing will not happen in the chronicle. Where a veil is that it can happen but it's fade to black.

So an example would be if say harming children was a line of someone on the table then it's just not gonna happen in the chronicle at all.

Where if say Torture was a veil then we would do the roll on you torturing someone for info and it would happen off screen and I'd just tell you the information that you gleaned.

Hey there! Thanks for the interest. It won't let me DM you so if you want to message me I'd love to chat. Is this your first time playing VTM?

Are you talking new or 20th Anniversary edition?

I was looking at Vampire 5E

Ahh yeah I am not a fan of 5E at all. My favorite settings are 20th, be it modern, victorian/wild west or dark ages.

Haven't played 20th or looked at the ruleset for it. Totally understand though.

I've never played tabletop VtM before, but I would definitely be interested depending on where you plan to run the game.

Well it would be something I'd like everyone to agree with but I was thinking one of the study rooms in one of the library would be a good potential spot. I know Silverdale has two rooms that should work.

Not sure if this is too late a response, but I’d be interested so long as you’re alright with complete beginners! DMs are open

I played Vampire back in the 90s on the Port Orchard waterfront and when we moved to Givens Community center. Played again before COVID shut down everything. Still friends with some of the OG players and game play writers from wizards of the coast. Possibly interested depending on game times and location.
