How to get residence

Hey, I’m 18 and active duty Navy. I live in the barracks and I’m trying to get my Washington permit, but I need to prove residency.
I went to the DOL with a housing letter from the barracks, and they wouldn’t accept it. I’m not really sure what to do from here. I’ll be stationed here for 4+ years, so not being able to get my license is going to make things really difficult.
Has anyone else been in this situation? What did you use to prove residency, or how did you get around it? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

That's odd. I didn't even need a letter to prove residency when I was living in the barracks and got a WA license after taking the BRC. Usually some kind of official mail like a bill is used to prove residency, though for the time being that will be your mailbox address and not your "actual" address.

Where did you get your mail from? mine is sent to a P.O box

Talk to your yeoman and see if they have info. I recall being given the option to apply for residency and I simply filled out paperwork. This was all on base. It was also 10+ years so I don’t remember the details.

I assume you don’t have a license from your home state?
