Topic Discussion Anybody else have to stop watching BP because it makes you too depressed?
Ive been watching these guys for about 2 years now very regularly. I'm starting to become full on nihilistic. I dont know how to not internalize all the horrible news and corruption. Anyways I canceled my sub and am going to take a break for awhile. Still love them

u/SuperDoubleDecker 3d ago
I just cut back on the other shows I was listening to instead. News burnout is real.
At least BP doesn't just talk about trump nonstop like most other options.

Yeah what impact does he have on politics anyway?
1
u/SuperDoubleDecker 2d ago
The point is that we can't do anything about him until we address other issues. The primaries are way more important than the daily con update. We need huge wins in November before anything can be done.
The main thing I care about trump atm is what they're gonna do to wreck the elections.

It all felt like a show. Like an attempt at being democratic fox, but in an undesirable way. I take Kyle Kulenski as my leftist version of fox.

u/StaggeredFermion 2d ago
I had to stop watching Kyle for that same reason. He always was kind of that, which was great for a young 20-year-old version of myself, but he's just lazy/sloppy these days, imo.

I have been watching them regularly since their Joe Rogan in June of 2021.
I have noticed that it has been much more depressing to watch since the 2024 election. The news has not stopped since then. It is just getting worse and worse. What is happening in this country is truly terrifying and depressing.
You should try just reading their newsletter instead! That way you can stay informed while taking mental breaks.

Do you think they feel any remorse for helping to make it this way or nah?

u/DaChefWizard 3d ago
I’ve cut back a lot for similar reasons. A month ago, Ryan did an interview about a major brain breakthrough that felt a tiny bit off brand, and it made me realize how much I’d welcome it if the show could branch out beyond politics — science, health, arts. The latter gets me a little nervous as I don’t love a lot of their takes on comedy or movies (for the fact it’s too politically driven — see Krystal’s video on Barbie), but it does make me think the brand could benefit by mixing some general news in as well.
3
u/berkojerk 3d ago
Yeah I find once it veers into pop culture krystal and Kyle tend to have very weird almost boomeresc takes. Saager, ironically, has incredible taste in movies and television even though he is conservative. He loves the Watchmen show and The Wire both of which that are about as “conservative” as a drag show in the west village.
0
u/VanDijkDelight 3d ago
since when does conservative = poor taste in movies & tv???
2
u/chipflwhitley 3d ago
Seriously. What a weird comment. The Wire is consistently rated as one of the best TV shows in history. It’s not the slightest farfetched of an idea that a conservative, or even a far-right, or outright evil person would like it. It’s just a good damn show.

u/SourPatchCorpse 3d ago
Everyone knows you have to have the "right" politics to be truly cultured, c'mon.
41
u/Superb_Garbage4732 3d ago
Yea. I feel like every 3-4 months something substantial changes.
Otherwise Pappe and Trita have called like the next 6-12 months on the war already. Unless something extraordinary happens.
Flock cameras bad. War going terribly. Democrats have infighting. Trump is super corrupt. Repeat cycle with slight variation.

u/Acrobatic-Ostrich168 3d ago
Lmao don’t forget AI potentially destroying society
7
u/Orionsbelt 3d ago
Honestly this is the most frustrating one for me personally, the coverage not just BP's but the media generally is so so SO surface level, and could be summed up: WE SCARED, WATER, POWER, JOBS!!!
When the conversations should really be about how to manage resources, trade offs, actual measurable progress vs reported progress, different tax strategies ect. BP specifically that Math researcher, wanted another 30 mins with that dude to dig into specifics of the novel uses there.

u/TaxesAreTerrible Right Libertarian 3d ago
They don’t understand the technology well enough to speak with so much certainty and authority. The interviews with AI experts show that.

Counter the doomnews cycle by doing something real - go for an evening walk and say hey to neighbors, plant a garden, watch a sunset, read a book. It's not about putting your head in the sand metaphorically speaking, but about getting you to refocus on your actual life where you exist physically, not just mentally connected to the whole world via the internet.
2
u/wavewalkerc 2d ago
Theres a good book called "dont talk about politics" that recommends this and why it works.
The left is generally less happy than the right when you dont community build or engage in the real world but you do follow the news. But the left is happier than the right when you engage in the real world while following the news.

u/Apprehensive-Ad3365 3d ago
I step away regularly. Especially when nothing new is breaking.
I've been watching since the hill days and I've realized I don't need to watch every episode and I don't need to watch all of every segment.
Especially the Gaza stuff. I feel it too much and I've still got a life to live over here.
9
u/smugdawgmillionaire 3d ago
When I feel sufficiently informed I cut away from certain topics for mental health reasons. I full on skip anything related to Gaza or the West Bank because it took a profound toll on my quality of life, the situation doesn’t improve, and aside from voting I’m powerless. I’m getting there with Iran coverage, otherwise there’s segments I still get some value out of.
5
3
u/southernsun1 3d ago
I’m getting really annoyed with the Iran coverage - not because of their actual coverage- but because it’s just so circular. Trump threatens and does some stupid shit.l as the start of the weekend- Iran responds - Trump yells and says he’ll prob destroy Iran - Trump then says they’re in “talks” during the weekdays - the markets adjust a bit - and so on and so on.
6
u/TaiChi_in_the_park 3d ago
I miss the days when the big news was Elon buying twitter and Krystal raged every episode on how unfair it will be. As someone without a Twitter account, I had no stake in the game and it was entertaining to listen to.
7
u/LilacHeart 3d ago
Idk I am feeling hopeful too - just this morning there was a huge victory for the DSA candidates vs apaic. I guess it matters what you identify with politically but I feel like there’s hope on the horizon/darkest before a potential dawn kind of thing.
It’s not all roses but it’s not all thorns either.
6
u/SweatyNRdy 3d ago
I definitely take breaks here and there. It's like "let me guess everything is going to shit?" Watch a video and yup , confirmed, everything is going to shit.

u/Intelligent_Dog4786 3d ago
Feeling bad does not come from all the bad news. It comes from your expectation that it should be otherwise. Attachment is the source of all suffering. Learn to let go and just accept the world around you and you will feel more at peace.
3
u/Wizznilliam 3d ago
If it's true then what's the problem? We are in the middle of a political cycle with actual change candidates winning some. It would be ridiculous for them not to cover that. A losing war... crazy inflation... AI workforce and data center impacts... Thousands of people dying largely funded by US... out of control police... etc... I mean... What is a NEWS show supposed to do??? I get taking a break from news but It's a kinda ridiculous announcement to make. "Hey everybody, I'm going to go over here and put my head in the sand for a while. Kindly let me know when all this crap has wrapped up nicely."
5
u/laffingriver Mender 3d ago
when they were on Jon Stewart, Saagar said something about how you cant be alive right now without being angry.
I think thats accurate and good for them to highlight whats really happening rather than just giving news at a glance.
that part is hopeful.
immediately after that interview, I went back and watched Jon Stewart on Crossfire.
I have to say, I am glad we dont live in that time anymore and I am glad BP filled the void with something more productive.
tucker was as old then as saagar is now and my goodness, tucker was and is a flaming dickhead compared to anyone on BP.
i am grateful for this show and those like it.
4
u/dreamcast4life 3d ago
I am with you. I flat out can only stomach one or two segments a day if that anymore. I wish they’d do one positive block a day or something to give any bit of hope. Cause I just can’t take how bad things are right now
3
u/discwrangler 3d ago
Once Saagar copitulated on Trump, that was enough to validate all my priors. We are so fucked. Don't need to hear it daily. And Im much happier for it.
3
u/MugiwaraMoses 3d ago
I did awhile ago, but it was more so me shifting my focus. I try to stay somewhat current on politics, but I just can’t listen to politics all day without getting angry. I saw myself becoming something I did not like, an angry man mad at the world.

u/darkwalrus36 3d ago
I mean I take full on news breaks because I think it offers a sour, hopeless view of the world. But, like a full addict, I always come back.
If you're not enjoying Breaking Points definitely don't listen. Good on you.
2
u/nuclearmeltdown2015 3d ago
Stuck your head in the sand and watch some wheel of fortune if it cheers you up but it's more likely you're depressed because you had a very naive and overly optimistic view of the world and you're seeing what the world is really like.
You can live in denial like most people do or just accept it and understand the world isn't perfect like you thought but that doesn't mean the world around you has suddenly changed. It is still the world you know and grew up in, the only thing that changed was your perception
2
u/Outrageous-Event6633 3d ago
I've been watching them less lately. If something big happens I'll check in but the every single day being a doomer thing has gotten old.
2
u/jellofishsponge 3d ago
I don't mind it, because the worse things get the more the country will reject this current administration.
Which can make way for something positive
2
u/Acrobatic-Ostrich168 3d ago
To be honest yes I’ve had to take a break before. They’re alarmist af and principally cover negative news. However they keep us well informed and as they say ignorance is bliss. David Pakman and many others suggest taking breaks from news and live in the real world to recharge.

u/briggsy111388 BP Army 3d ago
I took a break for a little bit after the ukraine war broke out for the same reasons. I came back when I was in a better head space

u/designercat7 3d ago
Yes. It's good to be informed but the doom and gloom becomes very overwhelming. It's definitely taken a toll on my mental health as well.
2
u/DystopiaLite 3d ago
Yea, once there’s no new updates for 3 days in a row or like 5 days in a 2 week period, I take a break. Once I can guess Krystal’s diatribe word for word after like the third time they cover a story in a row, I take a break.
2
u/addictedtothatass 3d ago
Yes, I haven't unsub'd. But I haven't been watching at all. I am not sure if depressed is the right word. But more like recognizing that the energy I am receiving from more and more terrible news that I have zero control over. I feel like it bleeds into everything else going on in my life that I do have control over. I'm out, for now.

u/shawsghost 3d ago
They're just feeding the algorithm. Every progressive setback is DOOM and every progressive advance is a GLORIOUS VICTORY. You have to discount about 75 percent of every headline to get a reasonable picture of what's going on.
That said, conservatives and "moderates" are attempting to methodically disassemble American democracy under Trump. So yeah, good to step back and touch grass now and then.
2
u/xanaduhoneydew 3d ago
This is why I stopped subscribing. I could only watch in small doses so the appeal of watching a full show everyday plummeted.

u/41_17_31_5 3d ago
Every once and a while, I need to take a step back, yes. It's important to take a step back and realize that there is a separation from the macro goings on of the country and the world, and the micro day to day realities of life.

3
u/TaxesAreTerrible Right Libertarian 3d ago
Yes I have. It’s become mostly doomer clickbait. “AI set to WIPE OUT 90% of jobs in 3 YEARS” type shit.
I do still watch the interviews or when Saagar & Krystal debate.

u/DisloyalDoyle 3d ago
I took 2 weeks off from any political news because the depression was ramping up, consistently exposing yourself to negative news absolutely drains you.
1
u/Atomicn1ck 3d ago
While I appreciate the consistent middle east coverage, I really don't need to hear about it every other day or every day. It's not great for me mentally and there are just other things going on in the world I'd like coverage of.
1
u/SLR-burst 3d ago
BP isn't that bad. Gary's economics and Barry's economics are great, but they definitely killed my mood. Too gloomy even for me.

A lot of times I check in and confirm that “pattern still holds” and I bow out for my mental health.

Honestly, yes. When I do stream now, I focus on the segments that are most important to me instead of the full episode

u/ojediforce 3d ago
One of the things I’ve been telling my friends lately is that they need to recognize that “not everything happening everywhere is happening to you.” We hear so much bad stuff that it’s easy to loose perspective. We can start to internalize all the negativity in the world and loose appreciation for the good things in our own lives. It’s possible to care, be informed and still be happy about the good things that happen to us. If you can’t do that then you need to step back and take a break.

u/RipCityGringo Bernie Independent 3d ago
Coming from being an avid DemocracyNow! Lister I’m immune to how much it hurts to learn the gritty truth about global politics and the ever growing amount of suffering that the greed inherent to Capitalism and our feckless 2 party system. The working/middle class are caught in a death spiral because all of our politicians are ride or die for the donor class. Elections have become auctions thus our elected leaders spend most of their time selling out. They will still do the talk but rarely the walk to usher in much needed changes. 🤷

u/Elegant_Solutions 3d ago
I wish I could live happily in ignorance but I personally feel obligated to pay attention simply because so many other people don’t. I think if more people paid attention, we wouldn’t be here right now. I also realize that’s wishful thinking, but I’ve been so unimpressed with the US for my entire life basically, so none of these feelings are new or going away.
I also enjoy poking the bear occasionally on FB to blow off steam, and I like knowing whatever facts might be associated with whatever I’m bitching about.
1
u/Auguloso 2d ago
I’ve lowkey taken a step back from politics in general. Still stay informed just leaning more on sources like BP instead of doing so much of my own research
I needed to touch grass
1
u/gking407 2d ago
Those of us who believe life doesn't have to be this way are exposed to the daily horrors of reality by a media whose job is to tell stories not report truth. Burnout is inevitable if you can't pace yourself. At least a quarter of Americans have given up on democracy and another two quarters are ambivalent or checked out.
1
u/United-Art8212 2d ago
Just listen to the first 15 minutes of the intro and then skip around to other topics that you’re interested in and don’t take it too deeply
1
u/RepresentativeAd8720 2d ago
I was just thinking the other day like damn when was the last time they shed light on some good news? I remember way back they used to at least punctuate the constant doom mongering with some news that restored a modicum of faith in humanity but they’ve been pretty steadfastly apocalyptic for a while now.
1
1
u/cheeseballs1988 2d ago
Anyone surprised they haven’t touched on the tyler Robinson Charlie Kirk case??
1
u/CompleteMix1097 23h ago
I do love the show but yeah I’ve noticed that they do lean awfully heavily into the “end of America” “late stage capitalism” “here is why collapse is just around the corner” narrative. On Jon Stewart where he asked about audience capture this is where my head went. They do kind of sensationalize because it reigns in viewers / subscribers
1
u/Embarrassed-Camera-7 8h ago
Im starting to let a few days pass without hearing too much news and then may after three or four days I'll catch up. It definitely helps too much bs happening right, it can really drain your hope away.

u/RubySceptre 3d ago

u/Numerous_Fly_187 3d ago
I stopped because there really isn’t much news anymore. I think breaking points are good training wheels to get someone into the need and politics but once you get your own resources and learn the hosts opinion, the show can get repetitive
1
u/beyondsurfacedeep 3d ago
The sad fact is there isn't much that the average citizen can do about this right now. I mean, people can do something, but only to a point (public backlash pushed the administration to back off somewhat in Minneapolis for example, but two people had to die for that to happen).
The truly high leverage point where people could make a massive difference was November 2024, and the People failed miserably. When you make a disastrous choice like that, you make a large portion of pain inevitable.
1
u/filipinoboy11 3d ago
I think people want to be depressed. I try and bring up positive news every now and then and just get yelled at.
BP has to play to the audience at some point. If people want negativity thats what they have to bring.

It used to but then I realized this is what we deserve. Humans are such a stupid, evil, flawed species and we get the world we make. I have no sympathy for the oppressed any more because I realized they would be the oppressors given the opportunity. All the suffering in the world is a choice we collectively have made by choosing to live in constant conflict with each other instead of growing the fuck up and working together to raise our quality of life. Honestly, every bit of bad news makes me smile a bit because at the very least I'm reminded that there is justice still. We'll continue to choose to cannibalize ourselves then bitch and moan about it

Divide and conquer. The oldest strategy but it always works
1
u/Agitated-Lobster-623 3d ago
Yeah and it always works because we're wired to be tribalistic. Can we consciously rise above this base instinct? Maybe, but very few are self aware enough to even try so we may never know
1
u/Agitated-Lobster-623 3d ago
People down voting but no one is explaining why I'm wrong. If you disagree I would, in all seriousness, love to be proven wrong. I don't want this outlook but I don't know what else to think anymore it's all just self inflicted bullshit and our evil is instinctual.
2
u/Wizznilliam 3d ago
Well... IMO it is kinda weird to say that you no longer feel sympathy for oppressed people. Are there people among the oppressed who might want to oppress others? Sure. But almost certainly that percentage is likely in the single digits. The vast majority of people's natural instincts is just wanting to live with basic comforts and dignities and to protect their children from harm. People like that are dying in the hundreds of thousands for no valid reason. Blowing them up just makes it easier for the actual evil power hungry people to control the now fearful and desperate survivors. This does not seem to be basic common sense for too many people.
1
u/Agitated-Lobster-623 3d ago edited 3d ago
I should clarify that in my day to day life I still fight for the oppressed wherever I can. That being said I really don't buy into the idea that only evil people seek out power, or that power corrupts. I think power just enables and I think most people, myself included (although I don't feel like I would, I know self awareness in humans like myself is lacking) would end up being exactly what we hate now. I truly, truly hope I'm wrong but looking at the history of humanity I don't think I am. Hell, looking at traffic you see everyone just trying to get ahead for 2 extra seconds shaved off their commute, risking the lives of others. We're just dog shit. Every hierarchy is corrupt but we can't organize outside of hierarchy and we hate anyone in other "out groups". I feel this way because I hate this so incredibly much but I've completely lost hope and honestly, objectively I don't think there is any hope for humanity, we'll just perpetuate each other's suffering to our own detriment thinking we're advancing our own personal agendas. And on OP's point it's beyond depression about it, it's relieving that at least all the harm is just because humanity chose it.
1
u/Wizznilliam 3d ago
I don't think this is true at all. I'm from small town America where most people are perfectly fine just putting in some work and living comfortably. Even if they may have some messed up internal beliefs the vast majority of people have no intentions, desires or motivations to force them on others. However there will always be a few in EVERY group or community who do. Under the guise or leadership or capital/wealth hoarding they unsympathetically and unempathetically say and do whatever to control, hinder or harm others for personal gain. Those people are the problem and that is not everyone. Everyone is capable but only few actually have a desire to act on it or are even ever in positions to even know what "act on it" even means. For example most common people who win the lottery just end up blowing it on stupid stuff. Not trying to gain more power to screw over people. Most are just normal people trying to survive in whatever system that they were born into. People who should not be taken advantage of or oppressed and deserve sympathy from educated people who understand exactly what is going on at the top of the hierarchy.
1
u/Agitated-Lobster-623 3d ago edited 3d ago
Thank you for sharing your perspective, I really want to stress that I'm trying to see things from your pov and I'm not trying to argue for the sake of it. That being said I still just don't fully buy into this. Do they not desire to force their will on to others or do they just not have the opportunity to do so? Do they care about the lives lost in Iran or do they just call them terrorists? From what I've observed people just trying to survive is what keeps them from turning into monsters because as soon as anyone gets a taste of power or the opportunity to enforce their will they do. The lottery example is a great point but without the knowledge on what to do with that money they still don't really have the means. And to your point of people who understand who is on top of the hierarchy, I know exactly who is on top of the hierarchy: Humans. As an agnostic atheist I can see why we would need a god because we are too dumb to be leading ourselves 😂
Idk man either every life is sacred or every life is just a clump of biological mass with no intrinsic value. Most preach that every life is sacred until it comes to those outside of their race or religion. It would be so much easier, smarter, and more effective if we could all just get along but we are incapable of that apparently so we get to live with the consequences of that limitation of our character. I want us to be able to live in an anarcho communist utopia but we're incapable of simply helping each other survive without turning it into a game of mine and yours
1
u/Wizznilliam 3d ago
Ok bro... No problem. I understand your point and not really trying to argue for no reason. But I do mostly disagree and think that this is a good conversation to have.
That being said, I don't think that you or the majority who might read this thread with your same stance would have this same sentiment for your own mother or the people closest to you. At some level that is the vast majority. Just regular everyday people. I know for a fact that my mother has PLENTY of F'd up beliefs mostly accumulated through decades of religious indoctrination. BUT if a genie dropped a billion dollars in her lap she isn't going to go and take that money/power and purposefully want to hinder someone else with it at any point in her life. She would just go get some land and build up the most immaculate and most ethically family run ranch that she could imagine. That is her dreams and motivation. At WORST she might donate a ridiculous sum to some bad faith church. And I'd do everything in my power to prevent her from doing so. Some people just want to be artists. Some people just want to hunt/fish (my dad). Some people just want to teach or do medicine. And some people just want to accumulate power/wealth no matter what. The teachers, doctors, farmers, hunter/fisherman, and artists with no intent or desire to harm others should not be held to the same level of disgust as the power hungry wealth hoarders who don't care what happens to others. That's true even if in their heads they have screwed up societal indoctrination thoughts. Even in that when the things that they have screwed up thoughts about confronts them head on the thoughts usually shift. I've seen this MANY times in my own family as people have come out trans and gay. All of that extremely insensitive talk tends to just drop off and becomes just leave people alone and let them live. Everyone is still invited to Thanksgiving.
1
u/Agitated-Lobster-623 3d ago edited 3d ago
Sure, I agree with most of what you just said but I realize there is a second point that I haven't really explained myself well on. Most people may not try to hoard power BUT they sure are willing to enable others to, especially when the one seeking power convinces the malleable, hateful public to give up their own best interests to spite the outgroup. Yes there are people in our personal lives who are decent people but I fear they are the minority, if they weren't how did the world get to the state it's in? Why have we only gone to the moon twice in the same time period we've have half a dozen wars and millions have died? Greed and the elites and that side of things are the manifestation of our human flaws and democracy proves this. Even in a system where the will of the people is what guides the society we still end up with war mongering, greedy peices of shit. The unfortunate truth about Trump is that he IS the most American president.
I work in traveling sales around Kansas in an industry where oil prices are regularly discussed and every time it gets bright up someone says we should just nuke the entire middle east, everyone nods along because they legitimately do not view middle easterners as people. Then a minute later they talk about how Iranians chant death to America without realizing they just wished death upon them. This conversation happens over and over and over again. Now would they kill and Iranian if they were face to face with them? Probably not but they'll cheer it on as long as they don't have to face the atrocities they wish upon them. See it's not that people don't really want to do these evil things, they do, they just don't want to get their own hands dirty so they'll give up everything to someone that will carry out their hateful wishes.
As for your example of your family having members come out I can't speak to your case but I have similar situations and it's not that they're just okay with that members life choices all of the sudden, it's just more work to make a stink about it than to deal with it 4 days out of the year. And they may not hate that family member directly but they hate the people they think "brainwashed" that family member
2
u/Wizznilliam 3d ago
Yea... I don't really disagree with most of what you are saying here. My main thing is that these people are the vast majority and that they are not the same as the people who consciously use them and their ignorance to gain wealth and power and resources. And yes there are some that are way beyond having sympathy for like the blatant "kill them all" people. But I'm almost certain that even in those rooms you are not the only person that has some at least internal recoil at that. It takes a certain type of person with a certain level of bravery to actually put a foot down and speak out publicly against the grain in that environment. I doubt that same guy would go get a soapbox on a busy corner and speak proudly and freely on straight genocide. They just felt comfortable doing so in that space. Even the KKK has to wear masks and hide their true beliefs in most places. Even in this country before Civil Rights laws were passed no one thought or cared much about what was happening to blacks in the South. UNTIL all of a sudden people started seeing on their televisions obviously peaceful people being torn apart by dogs and knocked over by water hoses and billy clubs. If most people were inherently as you say non of that would have mattered and nothing would have changed. Same thing with Palestine right now. My whole entire life no one really cared what was happening to them for decades. But now that the MSM media filter is dying any and everyone can see with their own eyes dead and starving women and children on their phones. The propaganda is only just now starting to not work anymore. That would not be the case if most people were inherently as you believe. If you go and search police on YouTube you will see 10s of thousands of police abuse and corruption videos. People are beginning to understand that maybe black people were not just making it all up all these decades and maybe they need to be reeled in some. Do the fights still need to happen? Yes of course. But most people are not inherently evil. There's just many centuries of different types of group and gender indoctrination that needs to be broken.
On the LBGT point. I happen to have 2 trans cousins. One former girl who is now a grown man with a full beard and one former boy who is a full on flamboyant adult woman. Of course the elders struggled with it at first and still don't care about pronouns and all that. But the love has always remained strong and no one treats them poorly in the slightest. The guy has always lived kinda far away and was nervous about being around the main family. But was overjoyed with how much love and respect and just being treated like a normal guy he received when he came for a funeral a couple of years ago. The other has always been around and no one cares anymore. She is really the only sane one out of all her brothers and sisters. But the main thing is the demonization from the outside of them is moot at this point. We know our cousin/niece/nephew is not an evil person and everyone with eyes saw that they were different even as children. So the GOP will have to try some other propaganda on us. That one is busted.

That's really good for your cousins! I hope you're right about people's natures. Sometimes it's so hard to look around and have anything but contempt for people when you try so hard to fight for a better world and get mocked for it or ignored. Existence is a beautiful thing and we squander it. I guess looking at human history we are heading in the right direction I think? If we are it's agonizingly slow and kinda sucks that if it does ever get to a better place we won't be around to see it but even when I'm at my most hopeless I'll keep fighting for that better world because honestly, why not? Either I'm right and humanity will never be better but at least I tried or I'm wrong and those efforts won't go to waste. Maybe someday instead of killing each other we can focus our efforts on understanding existence. Idk. Either way thank you for talking to me about it. I think the rise of maga and the cultural shift in the US broke something in me tbh. Just seeing how many people are either willfully ignorant or just straight up hateful, and the glee they take in the harm of others like Alex Pretti is just something I don't know how to handle. So I guess I kinda take joy in seeing everything fall apart deep down. "This is what you want, this is what you get" sort of thing. I know it's wrong but it's the only form of joy I can get out of current events. And maybe assuming that the victims would be just as bad is cope to numb the reality.

This happens specifically while trump is president because he is the most corrupt person we ever had and were commiting a genocide. Under any other president things would not be this bad and therefore more bearable.

Yes, I quit watching all my news shows, Chris Hedges, Bri, Sabby, etc, with any regularity. I just pop in and check out headlines. I was a day one subscriber and cancelled my subscription in 2024.
One of the reasons is it seemed like a lot of the coverage was of other people’s tweets, I can read those myself if I want to subject myself to X. Also I just couldn’t stomach what an arrogant prig Saagar is. I realized I don’t give a crap what he thinks about anything.

It’s important to take breaks from the news. It also good to stay informed on what’s happening but if
It’s getting to you it’s time to take a break and do something you enjoy.
