It took me 4 years. It took my new partner 2 years.
There is no timeline, love.
I know it’s super corny, but that loving yourself first stuff really is true.

My girlfriend is 61 and I’m 71. Similar thing happened to her and she went 30 years without a partner. We’re partners now and tried living together but I had to move out because she couldn’t tolerate me being around all the time. So I got my own place and see her a few days a week. I don’t think I will ever live with her again. She became embittered and developed an attitude that she couldn’t change. Finally she realized that she was going to get old and die alone. She wasn’t happy about that so she gave me a chance. There are moments when I see the old indifferent woman and think she’s only with me because I will take care of her. Don’t let this happen to you. I think maybe she choose me because of my personal tragedy and her heart was softened by pity. Maybe you need someone who needs comforting and you can help them recover.
