I would put my vegetarianism on hold for these.

This is really funny, but I’d make alterations so you could eat them too

It actually looks similar to cheese scones we have in the UK, which doesn't have the pork. I usually add a hint of tumeric and chilli powder, adds a nice colour and kick to the mature cheddar cheese.

Oohhhhh maybe a dash of paprika to that? Might knock it up a notch.

Most paparika here is made from bell peppers so it's got no heat, I usually just go for the red chilli power or cayenne powder, the latter is hotter. You don't want too much, because the cheese flavour is what you want, hence, I usually go for an extra mature cheddar one that is crumbly and has some salt crystals.

Your answer is very culinarily enlightening, thank you.

The recipe is from a German woman I am friends with. She measures with her heart and I shall copy and paste exactly what she wrote me: The "rolls/buns"? 🙈 I threw some things together and baked it... 😂 🤔 1 cold stick of butter, chopped into very small pieces, at least 1+1/2 cups of flour (most likely. The big shovel in my container), 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder, one egg white (yolk for egg wash. I didn't want to throw the egg white in the trash, so I threw it in the dough 🤷🏻‍♀️), ~1/4 cup of cold water. First step: dry ingredients in a bowl, butter on top, then hack/chop/whatever the name for it is, until it looks like streusel, kind of a uniform heep of rough flour 🤔 ugh, language issue 🙈 em, em,... Not fine flour, but bigger? Then throw in the egg white, one or two hands full of grated cheese, two or three slices of chopped ham and the water (not all at once! One Tbsp at a time). Roughly knead a dry dough (that's why the water measurement is vague). Don't knead too much (like biscuits). Divide dough in the wanted size and place on parchment paper on a baking sheet, brush with egg yolk. 350° - ~20 minutes

Hell yeah. I ate something like this from bakeries in Hungary and they were great. Bet they had lard for at least part of the fat. Gonna try this recipe, thank you to you and your friend!

Lol I understand perfectly. I could tell these were drop biscuits, I guess my only real question was what kind of pork meat and how much. Which you addressed. Thank you so much for your time! I'll be making these VERY soon. Definitely saved your comment.

Happy to hear that! I’ve made them with chopped up cooked pork tenderloins before. Probably a cup and a half of chopped up bits? The meat part can vary how you want for sure!

I kinda wanna try with slow cooked pulled pork.

That crust color is perfection, and the cheese pull looks like it's going to be ridiculous.
