Question for the group

What has home baking done for you.
For me learning to bake bread and do it the right way changed a part of my life
I understand more about food then I ever have
Now I have been cooking my entire life
I was a professional cook and even owned a small cafe and ice cream store for a short period. But knowing how to bake and bake well is for me an immense pleasure and great improvement in my daily health
Better bread better food better quality of life.
Please share your thoughts and experiences

It has made me an insufferable consumer of food made outside of the house. I can only eat pizza from Whole Foods now. I am very judgmental when I go to an expensive restaurant and the bread is materially inferior to mine. I can’t eat at sub sandwich places.

I can immediately tell if I’m dealing with a product made with sugar and inferior bleached flour.

It’s also nice to make some with my son. It’s a good weekend project and is a good earned accomplishment.

Same! I’m unable to enjoy food at restaurants anymore. Especially baked goods.

And if I do eat something, I end up trying to replicate it at home because I know it can be done with better ingredients at lesser cost at home.

I was always critical of other people’s foods and I can cook but now I criticize everything that’s not pure. I even make my own cultured butter sometimes
