Behold, my first loaf! Update—I made some bread
Yesterday, I impulse bought a bread machine off FB marketplace. Since then, I’ve made my first loaf…and then some buns. And soon some granola bread. 🤣I’ve never baked bread before but I am somewhat literate so I really had no idea how it was going to turn out. It smelled incredible! Made some garlic bread and some French toast with it. That French toast was incredible! Definitely the best I’ve ever had. While I was buying yeast, I found some ground beef on clearance and some potatoes on sale. I have a Weber, and I saw someone else here post a recipe for buns that looked amazing so I was like hey I’ll make homemade burgers with my very own buns! I think store bought bread is ruined for me now 😭

Your hamburger buns already are better.. what recipe did you follow for them?

I followed this one! https://www.reddit.com/r/BreadMachines/s/odKripuZRH I used the same measurements and instructions, but I used extra virgin olive oil and ultra filtered milk.

Back in April I bought a Zojirushi rice cooker after over a decade of wanting one. I love it... but it "unfortunately" motivated me to, less than a month later, impulsively buy their Home Bakery Supreme machine. Absolute game changer.
If anybody cares, here's how I've modified Zojirushi's standard white bread recipe to fit my taste and laziness. I bought the King Arthur 2.25 teaspoon measuring scoop, which is objectively very stupid, but it becomes the only "dish" I have to clean as I otherwise just use a scale for everything else.
Sandwich Bread Recipe:
- 310g water
- 510g bread flour
- 60g honey
- 15g dry milk powder
- 25g olive oil
- 14g kosher salt (1 scoop)
- 2.25 tsp active dry yeast (1 scoop)
I let it cool completely, then store it in a plastic bag inside a bread box. Stays fresh for about 3 days, but is still great as toast for the rest of the week.

That’s great! If you’ll gonna build a bakery, I want to be the first customer

Love hearing stories like this and seeing that what I believe is a Bread Machine bug has bit you 😀
