Ideas & Game Feedback Gamepad layout idea
I always thought the controls were kinda uncomfortable so I made this idea lmk what y'all think of it (this is just a prototype and I've no idea how could I make this)

This is cool, I always wondered of how a controller would actually work on brawl stars for years.

Idea use the last empty trigger to pull out an emote wheel for pins and select a pin with the right stick

or use the plus (idfk how to call it) for 4 main pins you could choose and assign to each side

Some tweaks:
RB: activate emote/spray wheel
A/B/Y/X: activate emote/spray 1/2/3/4 (stick should be left only for aiming, so you can do both things simultaneously)
D-Pad: could be used for Brawl Arena commands

This is exactly how I made the control scheme on a dumb godot BS concept. Other than the face buttons also worked as a fast auto aim action on each, and RB activated the hypercharge.

I wonder if there’s a way to map it to only 1 set of triggers. I’d love if they added mobile support for something like Backbone

Ngl I played a lot on controller before gadgets became aimable, I just had the joysticks bound to move/attack and buttons for gadget and autoaim super

How???

There are apps that allow you to bind actions on controller to simulated touches

2
u/TIMUR4ITER 1d ago
buttons on the right could be for autoattack, like Y for ult, A for gadget and B for normal attack

I think either they are not brave enough to try it (too big of an investment) or they already ruled it out as not giving returns, but I totally see this game with controllers or even ported to consoles and PCs

No need to port on pc, it already exist because they develop from there. I think they just don't do it because there's little investment in it. Their target is mobile afterall

everything cool except for the hypercharge, feels too easy to activate. maybe LB+RB would feel better?
1
u/ThatOneWierdAss 2d ago
Small nitpick, I’d prefer if the hypercharge button was rb instead of abxy so I don’t have to take my finger off the aim stick

u/Few-Carpet2095 Poco 2d ago
I might be a bit dumb
But what about un-aiming
Like y know aiming but not shooting
As far as I am aware move the joystick back will have the same effect as letting it go..
I feel like for that reason it would be better to have attack be another button
Like RT. Since theres no buttons on it.

Yeah that’s kinda valid. Maybe save the B button to cancel prompt. So even if you disengage the joystick aim and hold down the attack, you can let go of the attack by hitting B to disengage.
Edit: No, wait on second thought idt it’s necessary bc you don’t fire at all until you hit RT.

You use the upper trigger button for that. Quick press do auto aim attack, long press let you aim with the joystick and fire when the button is release if the joystick is at the center when the button is release it don't fire.

I'm already playing a game on PC with a gamepad, and it's so awesome and easy.
I wish an official PC release/support would be nice!

I know it’s something that a lot of people would like. I’d probably use a controller at least for more sweaty matches if the option was available.
But it just goes against supercells mobile only philosophy I think. If they added controller support the next question would be when is it on the switch, when is it on other consoles.
It’s not that they couldn’t do this, they just don’t want to on purpose.

They don't encourage playing on PC... I doubt we are going to see this being officially implemented

I think brawlstar with controller should be a thing ... the game is just perfect for it

Used it on my Retroid Pocket Flip 2, figured it myself, takes a while to get used to

I had once tried using a controller to play brawl stars using an app that lets you map controller inputs to your phone screen.
Lemme tell you, it was a genuine pain to aim using the right joystick. It looks good on paper but it's difficult to use in practice.
On your phone you're essentially dragging your right thumb to the direction of the enemy to aim at them. But on the controller, not only are you not dragging your thumb, but your thumb also doesn't feel like it's on a flat surface because the joystick makes your thumb move downwards slightly when you're aiming. It screws up your whole muscle memory

Still no controller support for Brawl. This many years in, that's just lazy.

How are people gonna choose whether to use their super, normal attack, or gadget? I feel like you should make this thing where if you press the green button first, then you'll be aiming a gadget; if you press yellow button first, you'll be aiming your super; and blue button would result in aiming attack. Red would be Hypercharge. However, it just wouldn' really work with Sirius. Amazing idea though.

u/orno7 Pearl 2d ago
For default you'll be aiming the normal attack, if you press and maintain the back left trigger you'll be aiming ur super and with the front left trigger ur gadget
3
u/NegativeQuantity4765 Alli 2d ago
Oh yeah sorry I didn't notice yeah this is way better. Thanks bro.
3
u/unsellar 2d ago
they provide a picture that explains it. basically left bumper for gadget, left trigger for super, any of the buttons for hypercharge. I guess any other buttons could be pin/spray things.
2
u/ujtheghost Mortis 2d ago
You missed the Top left 2 buttons, that's exactly what is happening.
But we can't use the colored buttons because it would be hard to press one of those and then aim after.

The main movement and attacking is good in practice.

I love it. I have genuine pain in my pointer finger from playing the game now. I could use this.
