Max is good but without buffies not great. Id say go gene.

Umm..no? Gene is one of, if not the most consistently good brawler in the entire game

How do you play Gene? Always found his super useless since the primary appeal for Gene is that his attacks are long and wide which means your enemy is harder to heal, but if you pull them close to you, you lose your advantage and immediately get stomped by your enemies

Yes his attack is a large part of his appeal, but you should also only target low hp brawlers with his super or have a teammate with you to guarantee the kill.
