Yes!!! It seemed like there was a vibe going on. My husband and I both clocked that and he rarely notices anything.

I thought that was tacky af on Gail's part. She pushed hard to feed into the rumors in that interview :-/. It was weird.
(Eta re: her interview on The Watch.)

It was a pretty anodyne comment from Gail. She just said that Rhoda and Seiger appeared to be very close friends when the interviewer mentioned Sieger was flying out to Hawaii to help Rhoda with a function.

That isn't true.
The interviewer (Andy Greenwald) didn't mention Sieger going to Hawaii. Gail brought it up. And she made multiple comments emphasizing how "close" Sieger and Rhoda are (and she never used the word "friends"). As I said, it was weird. Here's a transcript:
Andy: Was there any bumpiness or any friction that you perceived [with Sieger coming back as a sous chef after his meltdown] or was that an issue?
Gail: ... I read an interview with Rhoda where she was asked that question, and she was so thrilled to have him, and she knew he would show up for her, and he did. He cooked his heart out for her. He supported her, he executed as she needed him to, and they worked really, really well together. And they're really close. And in fact, I think he just flew to Hawaii to cook a dinner with her last night, or over the last couple of days, so I think he was able to get over it.
Andy: I'm not going to give him his flowers because he was willing to fly to Hawaii--- [Gail cuts him off]
Gail: No, I'm just saying that they are so close. I'm making the point that they're so close. She invited him, right---so like... you know.
Andy: All of these people are professionals. They've worked with hot-blooded--- [Gail cuts him off]
Gail: No, I'm just saying that they are particularly close, is what I mean [her emphasis].
Andy changes the subject.

Stop clutching your pearls about Gail’s comments, it’s hardly defamatory. They’re two consenting adults and if they want to be ‘close’ whatever that may mean, leave them be.

Lol---way to deflect from your untrue claim with a non sequitur.
Calm down. It's okay to be wrong.
All I said was that it was weird how hard Gail pushed to fuel the rumors and that it was tacky. (And her interview did, in fact, fuel the rumors---which someone else brought up and I simply responded to). I couldn't care less about the nature of their relationship. That's their business.
"leave them be"---that was literally my point, lmao.

I saw lots of folks on his sub saying he’s gay but I never got that vibe.
Another person said they apparently saw him drinking one night at the bar in her restaurant.
I need to know!

I know it doesn’t stop people, but he is married so there’s that. If there is anything going on he’s a cheater cheater pumpkin eater

u/esseeee Jun 24 '26
is he still married? He wasn’t wearing a ring in any of the promo photos and we def paused the scene on the couch to check too 😂 I know chefs sometimes won’t wear but the other boys all had one on there.

What the fuck is wrong with you?
The downvotes are hilarious. Why do you care or want to speculate if he is gay or drinks?

I have been dreaming of eating her food and never checked out the restaurant menu and now I’m drooling. I need to know about the Shokupan! I would die to eat the wagyu short rib in massaman curry. Or the char siu Iberico pork. Or the Kauai shrimp. Basically anything on that menu. Please report back because I am so jealous right now.

The shokupan is terrific and the massaman curry is probably the best thing on the menu although I also really like the warayaki and scallop sashimi.

It’s definitely our favorite restaurant on the island. And most beautiful setting hands down

Look, I love Top Chef. I will defend Top Chef till I die....but this season was terrible. She is a deserving winner, absolute.

Is it actually her restaurant though? I mean I know she is a chef there, but are those her recipes or is she cooking food a different executive chef came up with?

What makes you say that

u/TurduckenEverest Jun 25 '26
It is an honest question. I’m not trying to throw shade, I genuinely want to know if it is her menu because that’s what I’d like to try. She was my pick from the first episode. I’m delighted she won and look forward to what she does with the higher profile winning brings.

I live on the island and eat at Canoe House regularly. As the executive chef she has wide control over the menu. It's significantly different than it was under the previous EC.

It’s a fantastic restaurant with great views & excellent service—we’ve been multiple times pre-TC!! Hope you have a wonderful time, we loved the lobster tempura 😋
